  1. Is this correct? If CPA wins over DCA and FRA, then they will finish 3rd in the region. If they lose to DCA and defeat FRA, then they have a good chance to finish 4th. Does anyone know what scenarios are needed for CPA to finish 4th?
  2. Someone told me that Wayne Co.'s special teams has really struggled this year. They said that their kicking game wasn't very good. Someone said that Collinwood started nearly all of their drives outside of their own 40 even after kick-offs and punts, but had no big returns. If this is the case, then their defense must be pretty good. However, in a match-up of evenly athletic and well coached teams the outcome is usually decided by special team play. From what I hear, Wayne Co. must improve in this area.
  3. Are we to assume that DCA hasn't got a ballclub capable of beating the last play-off seeded team from Region 6A? I don't buy that theory. If Forrest makes the play-offs, then they'll very likely lose to DCA in the first round. Also, if CPA wins out, then they'll likely finish 3rd in the region. In that case, they would play the number two team from Region 6. I've seen Forrest play, and after watching the game I felt like they would make the play-offs. However, it will be difficult to finish ahead of at least one of the following: Mt. Pleasant, Huntland, and Moore Co. It seems that Wayne Co. and Collinwood already have berths sewn up.
  4. Just as I suspected this thread has really taken off this week. With Wayne County being such a small county in terms of population (just 3 high schools all Class A but only two football schools), I view the rivalry between Collinwood and Wayne County as very unique to the state. It is a little disappointing that this game is not the last game of the year. In the last few years, Collinwood has definitely had the upper hand. Apparently, this year Wayne Co. has a good team, so maybe this rivalry will bring back the powerful emotion of the past. For those of you who have followed both teams, expect the winner to be the team to channel that emotion into positive plays and not negative ones.
  5. I found the results from yesterday's state tourney for a-aa on the results from aaa on the tssaa web site. Yesterday was a brutal round for all golfers involved. It came a downpour in the morning that caused a delay for around an hour, then the winds howled the rest of the time. I'm really not surprised the scores were as high as they were given the conditions. There were also leaves all over the greens. The players would try to clear a path to the hole in order to putt, then the wind would kick up and blow the leaves back in the way.
  6. Huntland is not going to beat Collinwood. In fact, I'll be surprised if they play within two touchdowns. It doesn't seem that C'wood is as good this year as they have been, but they've been unbelievably tough in this region the last three years. Thus, they could afford to drop off a bit and still win the region.
  7. the wide receiver from CPA's team last year went to college. I believe his name was Williams (I think he was a senior). Anyway, he made at least one spectacular catch in every game that I saw them play last year (3 games).

    TSSAA

I've heard several complaints about the TSSAA during the last few years (not just in football -- mainly in basketball). I have no idea the revenue or expenditures that this organization has, but I do know that in my circle they are not well liked. I think the main arguement is that they are not consistent in certain areas. Whether or not money has anything to do with this inconsistency is for debate, but some people think money is the driving factor. The split between private schools and public schools has already been put to vote, but to my understanding the TSSAA is wanting to put it to another vote (citing a poor voting turn-out the first time). I'm not sure how fair that is. It seems like in the Region tournament in basketball, I recall hearing about the TSSAA sending in four different crews of officials to work four different games. Thus, the schools were left to pay the mileage and travel to more officials. Now, when they are questioned about these things they (TSSAA) offer no reasons just simply react with displeasure. If they would be a little more truthful in some areas, then the fans would likely not always assume that they were to blame.
  10. I agree with that statement. Week to week improvement is definitely necessary. Overall respect for the program (respect from other teams and fans) comes after wins over the top teams in the region. There is no substitute for wins. However, you have to make small strides before big ones.
  11. Bear Trace at Ross Creek in Clifton is definitely among the top courses...
  12. It would seem that the Mt. Pleasant folks are overjoyed by the play of their Tigers in the early going. It seems that they are desperately searching for the respect of the other teams. I knew they weren't going to beat Collinwood. Making the score respectable is a far cry from winning. Just ask CA about their experiences with Collinwood the past few years. If the Tigers are up and coming as those on here say they are, then let them win some games against the top teams in the region and the respect will follow. Don't get overexcited when someone doesn't give the props to a team for playing a close game.
  13. Moore Co. may be improved, but not good enough to defeat Collinwood. Collinwood by a touchdown.
  14. Without the aide of turnovers Mt. Pleasant won't win this football game. From what I hear they have come along way this year, but let's get real -- Collinwood has the better team.
  15. Last year I know this region had a very strong Collinwood team. Also, Cascade had a pretty good team last year. I was just wondering how this region stood this year. Is Cascade as good this year? Collinwood? Also, it seems it is about time for Moore Co. to have a resurgance.
  16. How good are these Rockets? It seems that last year, they finished the regular season with a fairly significant win streak. This year they are off to a 2-0 start. Are they contenders for the Region 6-A title? I know that they overcame a lot of adversity last year, and that can help build a lot of character.
  17. Typically this is a good matchup of Region 6A schools. I don't remember how the series has gone in the last five years, but I believe Huntland won at Wayne Co. last year. Whose going to win this year?
  18. How does this year's Huntland team compare to last? If I remember they were a really good defense team last year, and on offense they played ball control with their running game. Are they the same type of team this year?

  20. Who won the matchup the last time these two schools met? What year was it? It seems like it has been a few years since these teams hooked up.
  21. Big free throws down the stretch by Sig Miller and Tyler York sealed this game for the Cats. Glad to see the Cats advance. I felt like they played pretty well against some tough defense from Culleoka. It would be nice if the game was called where the defense couldn't ride the dribbler. Anyway, see all the Cat fans at the game tonight. If I can stay awake.
