  1. The 2004 DID win the state title. The 03, 05, and 06 teams made were eliminated in the semi-finals of the state tourney.
  2. With Goodpasture making its record 5th straight state tournament appearance, how do you think this team stacks up against the 4 previous ones? Here's what I think... 1. 2004 2. 2005 3. 2007 4. 2003 5. 2006

  4. I like how you say keep talking when no one even mentioned Ezell until you all started talking about how your lineman handle a Goodpasture Lineman. This thread wasnt about who had a better game 1 night it was about who was the best.....which means who played the most consistent the whole season even agaisnt good competition. If Coacht is what drives your season I guess your not going to make it far this year either. Coacht is far from what should drive your team throughout the season.....I guess its BYE BYE to Ezell in the first or second round if that far
  5. Who has the most Complete OL and the most Complete DL in 2a?
  6. Who will be some of the best Lineman fighting in the trenches of 1a and 2a next season?
  7. Goodpasture has many more lineman besides Mark Fisher. They have Lance Locke,Quinton Groves, and Im sure that he cant manhandle any of those three.Goodpasture rushed for over 4,000 yards I dont think Ezell has enough good lineman that can do that.Who won between Ezell and Goodpasture??
  8. I know that Mitchell will be a favorite...but any other predictions?
  9. Even Siegel won the one earlier this season....Whites Creek starting pg/sg didnt play
  10. I know that Goodpasture did pretty well during most of the season but what happened in the BIG GAME? Are they strong or just big?
  11. Wow this game should be a heckuva showdown. Neither team showed much care for the other in their last meeting at Goodpasture, and we can only hope that the ragging SC cheerleaders don't make as much of fools of themselves as last time when they called CJ Davis, um, the "n"-word. The Bison, I am afraid, do enough trash-talking on their own without their rowdy cheer squad to help them out. This aside, SC has a scary team; athletic, quick, and full of good 3-pt. shooters. However, Goodpasture has caused them problems twice before and I sense the emotions running a little high in this a loser-goes-to-baseball-practice-tomorrow type of atmosphere. It is very difficult to beat a team three times in a season, but I think Derek Brady, the Cougars' defensive leader and Davis are level-headed enough to outlast the Bison, who have in the last two games become rather whiny/emotional/hot-headed. Goodpasture's emotional side could rear its ugly head (Buchanan and Frey have to watch themselves), but I think this is a matchup where simply cooler heads prevail.
  12. Well, turns out that loose balls, rebounds and breaks did go the Cougars' way. Surprisingly, Goodpasture was able to attack the LA press with little damage, and when it became a half-court game, CJ Davis became unstoppable even without Frey in the game. It didnt hurt having the X-FACTOR, Chris Buchanan, cleaning up his every miss, or Matt Fox, a rising junior center deny half of LA's attempts in the paint. Also, great defense tonight by the Cougars. Should be another battle Thursday night.
  13. The Cougars are struggled big time last week in the District tournament. Sloppy ball-handling, shooting, and lousy defense made it easy to see why they finished 4th in the district. Initially, I thought they were done, but after having almost a week to regroup, I think Goodpasture finds themselves in a good situation here (In contrast, an awful situation for Livingston, to have to face a 23-6 [/i]4 seed.) It sounds very cliched, but whoever wants it more--loose balls, rebounds, hustle plays, charges drawn, etc.--is going to take this one. Goodpasture has occasional lapses in the hustle department when things aren't going their way, so they need to stay focused and I dont think Livingston--or many other teams--will be able to stop that three-headed attack. CJ Davis can score on anybody, Zack Frey, when hot, could hit fade-away jumpers from the the next county, and Chris Buchanan--who I have said all year is their best player/X-factor--is an absolute monster on the boards. With about 15-18 from the Brady/Nipps/Batson trio, the Cougars will win handily.
  14. Laura Lamberth from Goodpasture is an amazing center mid. She's only a Soph. and plays club ball for real madrid in brentwood. She is by far the leading scorer and leader in Assists for this years team, even though the team isn't that good. She's been playing Varsity since her 8th grade year. From whats been said, there are colleges looking at her already, and for good reason, she's an amazing player.
  15. Look, moose, and everyone else involved in this constant back-and-forth smack talk, I think EVERYONE in the situation needs to grow up. OK, Ezell beat Goodpasture on January 7th, lets give them their props. OK, Frey outscored Lackey, lets give him his props. But can we stop overhyping everything? I mean, Gettis outscored McCool, lets talk about that. Their are more important things to talk about on this website than our hard feelings about each other. It was a great game that will be even better next time.
  16. In response to all of the "recruiting" talk, I believe that people should research this and get a little background on the situation before they make brash comments about it. Here is Goodpasture's lineup: 1. Chris Lowe-came to GHS in 5th grade 2. Austin Tice-attented GHS his whole life 3. Jay Moreland-attented GHS his whole life 4. Brad Cobb-attented GHS his whole life 5. Danny Pulley-came to GHS in 9th grade 6. Cory Herbert-came to GHS in 10th grade from another private school(DCA) to play for a better program 7. Justin Sturdivant-attented GHS his whole life 8. Michael Shaw-came in elementary school 9. Chassen Haynes-attented GHS his whole life 2 starting pitchers, Michael McGee and John Hooper have been at GHS since middle school and the other, Eric Diaz has been at GHS his whole life. Edward Porter, Raleigh McCool and Will Cripps, the first 3 guys off the bench, came in 5th grade, 5th grade and was there his whole life, respectively. So, either Goodpasture is recruiting a lot of benchwarmers, Coach Estep has an eye for VERY young talent(I heard he was after this 5 year old kid who was tearing it up in tee ball), or this is just another lame excuse by inferior progams.
  17. As a current Goodpasture player, I must say that it is extremely cool for a kid to have 6 different jersey tops, 4 different hats, and a zillion different combinations to choose from. We have our traditional blue hat with a white G-paw(which by the way I think is the coolest high school logo I've ever seen), a blue hat with a gold G-paw, a white hat(introduced last season) with a blue bill and G-paw, and a blue hat with a black bill and G-paw. We also have a white and gray sleeveless top, a blue top, a black top, a gold top(the consensus view among players is that it is the sweetest one we have, I personally love it), and a new pullover top we got last season(we have inly worn it twice, last season in the district tourney vs. Ezell, and last season's region final loss to DA). We also have a black and blue belt, socks, and mesh undershirts. I feel very privileged to have so many nice things and appreciate Coach Estep for getting us these nice things. We will be wearing white with blue trim today vs. Forrest, so who knows which tops we might pull out. Should be a great game.
  18. Does 13 to 2 answer anybodys questions?
  19. I think I remember when Goodpasture played NCS in a scrimmage they won by 20(?) and NCS was ice cold from 3. And I was at the GHS-CPA game and Hobgood blatantly fouled Daniel. CPA is an awesome team who deserves all the credit they get, good luck to them in the region. I think Sikes is the one to watch out for. HE can throw it down.
  20. I am very impressed with CPA's team this year. They rebound well, play pretty good defense, and can score with anybody. I am also impressed with their "never-say-die attitude". It seems that everytime I see them they are fired up and believe that they can win. DCA, on the other hand, I think had a much better team last year. Trainer can hit some 3's if he gets hot, and Loftis can always score, but I think their offensive scheme and overall talent on offense is definitely near the bottom of the district. They do play well defensively but cant seem to get the big stop or big play they need in close games. I have seen them play 3 times. They lost in OT to Page and Rossview, games in which they played pretty well in regulation but folded in OT, and againt Goodpasture, where they had 2 oppurtunitities to win the game and they couldn't. I like CPA in this one. I think they are a much better team, but the way this district has been this season, I wouldnt be surprised if this wasnt a very very close game in the end.
  21. Wow. I just didnt know Greenbrier had that kind of height. I was just wondering. How is their season going so far?
  22. How about we all stop taking shots at each other. Obviously the 'Dever boy' didn't like Greenbrier's future in basketball, and is a great guy and he's fitting in great at Goodpasture, not only on the court but in school and is having a great time. I'm sure Greenbrier is doing well and a Goodpasture/Greenbrier matchup would be interesting. But could Greenbrier match up with the tall guys?
  23. Goodpasture: How about this squad: Ron Mercer (Kentucky and NBA) Drew Maddux (All-SEC at Vandy) Sam Howard (One of Vandy's All-time best 3 pt. shooters) Alan Banks (Lipscomb) Albert Hacker (Lipscomb) Ryan Daniel (Senior at GHS-UTC college) Lucas Romine (Berry College) Ryan Batey (SW Missouri)
  24. I think Goodpasture is definitely state material. You just watch man. But we'll just stick to playing our game and not talking crap about something thats 3 months away. Just dont count us out.
  25. I agree with TrojanMan. Lipscomb did in fact send in their "hatchet man" to, let's say, "prod" Ryan. I played in this game and practice with Ryan everyday and he doesn't lose his cool unless he is provoked. Being on the floor while this was going on made it easy to see that this Lipscomb sub came into the game with one purpose. He didnt come in to score, to play defense, or to give someone a breather, I dont know if this was the coach's plan or not, but the Lipscomb player came into the game and began cussing at Ryan, pushing him, giving him cheap shots and INTENTIONALLY trying to get him out of his game. I'm not trying to justify Ryan's retaliation, but I witnessed this incident first hand, better than any fan could see it, and, in this situation, both players were guilty, although only one got caught. In fact, the referees, who blew calls most of the night, did call a personal foul on a Lipscomb player, but it was the wrong one! Ryan was blatantly shoved, held, pulled on, hit, and cussed at until he retaliated with a simple shove. Most people also dont know that he his seriously hearing impaired. It is very possible, in fact, this is probably what happened, that he did not hear the whistle, and that is why he continued to go after Lipscomb's "enforcer".
