  1. we know that meow. some great people in the mountain. unfortunately the ones that are not so great from the mountian, the creek, and the hill are the ones that are heard from the most. like i said creeker.
  2. keep making excuses, sc. why wouldn't the rangers come to play? wasn't Cloudland up by a lot at your place? didn't imply you said something about the refs or others not being there but these are some excuses other ranger fans have made in past threads. it just always seems to be "wait until or we'll see". i believe we saw last night. it's not common courtesy to give credit where it is do just common sense.
  3. sports(no clue)84, by the way Happy Valley is not even in the same classification as the highlanders and rangers. so wishing us not to do well in the tournament has nothing to do with you and the rangers. just because we came up there and beat you doesn't mean you have to hold hard feelings. we don't feel bad towards you. we hope you make it to the regional, oh forgot, since there are only 4 teams in your conference, everyone gets to go. way to work hard for that. well at least you can say you played one game in the regional. you are at least right when you say the lady rangers are better. don't think you all can guard them. maybe defend one but not all. and remember it's hard to estimate something that might show up (Daniel Boone, but still lost) and might not (university high, better hope you don't play them in the tournament).
  4. way to stand up and be a man, buzzcut. too many ranger fans kept posting wait until the game, the game happened and now they are saying it didn't matter. give credit where it is do. the rangers have a good team but got beat by a good team. both teams are pretty evenly matched. the game did matter is the aspect that now the highlanders know they are capable of beating the rangers. before all they could do is say so. now they know. some of you ranger fans, not all, this is why some people are so harsh on you. even in defeat there is always an excuse, game didn't matter, refs, someone not there and so on. better decide a way to get a little better so this doesn't happen again. don't think the highlanders will make much noise in the tournaments because they are very inconsistant. have a tendency to be a no show, but on certain nights can play pretty good. right ranger fans? and by the way, honestabe, the conference title does matter. an honor to show how hard a group of young men have worked for an entire season. do you think it wouldn't have mattered if the highlanders had won it?
  5. stick to the thread, ucwhosyourdaddy. better worry about teams you do play, like the lady warriors.
  6. coach able would be a wise choice if it came available. he has done a great job leading the jv of the lady warriors for a few years and been a great assistant coach.
  7. why is it when something goes wrong it's always the coach's fault? try putting some blame on the players. do you go to practice every day? do you know what they are trying to teach them? just because players don't do it doesn't mean it's not being taught. again I don't go to practice so I don't know either. but it is not always the coach's fault when something goes wrong. it's probably a combination of both. players have a tendency not to listen to their coach when other people are telling them that their offense stinks. it gives them an excuse not to exicute and try to do things on their own. coach farthering would probably make a good coach but if they were looking to make a change coach larry able from the valley would be a better one. but again, might be the coach's fault, might not.
  8. know coach pitts from his east tennessee days. great man, great coach, great father. what is wrong with his daughter? praying for the pitts family.
  9. look out for Cloudland. why? they are a very inconsistant team. sure they might be able to play with some teams but when it comes to crunch time they have a tendency to disappear. much like the lady warriors. even though the warriors did have a big win against Sullivan Central. the only two teams that seem to be winning consistantly is unicoi and Unaka. the lady cyclones are playing a little better but did get beat by the lady warriors. so first and second are pretty solid with the others could be in any order on any given night. these teams had better find some consistance over the final couple of weeks or could find themselves an early exit in the tournaments.
  10. osubrutus, why be putting down the lady warriors. i think the lady cyclones should have read more of coacht before the last time they played. believe the lady warriors took it to the lady cyclones. should have gotten ready to play them. maybe they won't be so easy to overlook the next time. maybe you should have time to think before making any other posts.
  11. Just heard a rumor that Coach Renfro had resigned from the coaching staff. Know he and Coach Bayless had a few words when he got a technical called on them at the Elizabethton game. Anyone have any information on this situation?
  12. obrutone, stay on track. not about Unaka here. get over that one. hv shot more free throws because the lady cyclones played terrible defense and had to foul at the end. the cyclones shot fewer free throws because hv played a solid zone and the cyclones settled for the outside shot. the lady cyclones did more reaching and slapping at the ball than they did defending it. hv blocked out on most of the missed shots from the cyclones and got some frustrated fouls from the lady cyclones. again, hv just looked like they wanted this game more than the lady cyclones. hope they can keep that attitude with them. have been and up and down team lately. kept looking for baughman to step up and take control but she never surfaced. was something wrong with her (beside the above mentioned)? sparky can sit back and have a real big smile thanks to the lady warriors. coachh, wondering why not much trapping or pressing (except at the end). didn't you all think they could do this to hv?
  13. i see no one has wanted to stand up for the cyclone faithful. are there any of you out there?
  14. hv beats upon a lack luster betsy cyclone team. the game was even played at the tempo the cyclones wanted and still couldn't muster much of an effort. hv dominated them on the boards, getting at least 5 offensive rebounds of missed free throws. hv would make a crazy pass, trying to let the cyclones hang around, and the cyclones would make a steal and then blow the lay up. cyclone faithful what has happened to your beloved team? the effort wasn't there for them tonight. something wrong in ole e-town? hv outplayed them with effort. something the warriors haven't always done. the warriors' zone seemed to stifle the cyclone offense and the cyclone zone didn't seem to have that much effect on the warriors. if the warriors could pass the ball a little better the cyclones would have gotten beat by 25 to 30 points. great job hv and not so great job Elizabethton.
  15. sparky, guess you were right. about the only one I heard predict the lady warriors over the lady cyclones. even myself didn't give the lady warriors much of a chance. they did a great job of coming back in the 3rd and 4th quarter to get the victory. the lady cyclones didn't look like they wanted to be there. guess the annoucement of a two hour delay made them forget about the game. ms. do it all baughman was a no show. someone told me she need just a few points to reach 1000. if she continues to play like she did tonight might take a few more games to get it. bottom line was it looked like the lady warriors just wanted it a little more than the cyclones. a good effort by the lady warriors even if the first half was not a good game of basketball. the lady cyclones just couldn't find an answer for williams on the inside. want to know coachh17 remarks about the loss. wonder why the lady cyclones don't do anymore trapping or pressing. unicoi will not have any trouble with the lady cyclones if they play them the way they played hv. congrats lady warriors. hope this win drives you in the right direction.
  16. lady warriors are struggling right now. if they don't guard baughman any better than last time she might get 40. even though they won at north they didn't play very well. look for the lady cyclones to win by 20.
  17. thanks for the info, redupset. is coach livesay still coaching there?
  18. anyone have any information on the Morristown East girls basketball team? haven't seen any threads concerning their play or how they have done this year. any information would be appreicated.
  19. what, a little desention on the creek. want to see an answer for this from some of the ranger faithful. sounds like mister ensor made someone mad. sometimes losing games, even if it's against very good teams will let a little doubtfulness creep into the scene. good assistant coaches, and i think unaka has them, do more of the patting while the head coach does more of the getting on players. this makes for a very good and productive coaching staff. saying it just isn't any fun anymore is a cop out. you'll get out of it exactly what you put into it. it's fun when your winning and normally finger pointing when you don't. i know unaka's schedule has been very tough and this is the downside to a tough schedule. it's hard for everyone to see the big picture when some losing is occuring. as for the game, will be interesting to see cloudland coming off a big win against north greene and unaka coming off a loss to harriman will react. the mental side of the game is a major part of who comes out the winner. if what mountain dew has said is true (players talking), then this game might be a lot closer than what i thought it was going to be. unaka playing at home with their crowd will have to have a slight advantage. again the ranger faithful please give us your insight to this post.
  20. but that doesn't give me much information. did you see the game? was it unicoi's defense or lack of offense by the warriors? i know what you think personally but would like to know something about the game please.
  21. The Unicoi Lady Blue Devils beat upon the Lady Warriors of Happy Valley on Friday night. Can someone give me some details of game?
  22. you keep saying if a kid can't take it, that's not the point, a kid shouldn't have to take it (cussing). how would or do you feel when someone cusses at you. not very good. a coach must get on his/her players sometimes but it can be done without abusive language. and that is what it is, abusive. it doesn't matter weither you're behind closed doors or not. kids aren't stupid. they know exactly when you are getting on them weither cuss words are used or not. maybe cussing is accepted more in other areas than here in east tennessee. i know on the football field it seems to be the norm. but that doesn't make it right. push kids, get on them, drive them to do their best, just don't put your hands on them or cuss them. a coach should set an example for his/her players. what happens if a players cusses on the court? technical, because it isn't accepted. there are many ways to get your point across to a kid. different ways for different players. if a kid has to be cussed to get their attention, then what does that say for the kid or the way he/her has been handled. motivate, teach, care for, get on them if needed, just don't cuss them. leave that for the ones that can't come up with anything better to say.
  23. gr8one, I wasn't downing playing his ability to coach. just the fact that there is more to coaching than x & o's. in my opinion to be a good coach one must do it all. most of the successful ones do this. after reading some of your other posts I believe you are not a UH person but from the creek. if so, look at your boys program and see why it has been so successful. coach ensor does it all, not just the "coaching" part. the players respect the program too much to do anything publicly to hurt it. sure kids will be kids but they must learn they are consequences for all their actions and must to taught to think before they act. the bottom line is that a coach is responsible for his/her teams actions. they need to be taught that something like this shouldn't occur before it happens, not after.
  24. gr8one, high school kids are getting less mature each year. they need guidance from someone. a lot of these kids do not get any from home. a good coach is there to help them learn not only the game of basketball but the game of life. a coach is the only "daddy" some of them have. a player should have enough respect of their team and program not to do something that would embarrass it. a player should have enough respect of their coach not to do something to embarrass him or her. so to say it is up to the players responsibility is not soley true. these are young men and women that need help. sure a coach cannot watch over his/her players every minute. but the time that they have with them they should instill pride in the program to keep something like this from happening. if a player loses this respect or pride then incidents like this will continue to occur. by the way, gr8one, if you are from UH then I might understand why the boys basketball team behaved like they have in the past. (but it has gotten better)
  25. thanks for the info. who were the technicals on? were they deserved?
