  1. No coach slapped any player. There was pushing to seperate the two teams. That rumor is false and all tapes were looked at to come to that conclusion. Just to set the record strait.
  2. Rossview should have the entire schedule as well. I think this year will be as crazy as last year. It could be the final week before anyone knows who is in first.
  3. Rossview won by 21 tonight but the game was alot closer then the score. It was a tough win for the Hawks.
  4. Rossview won by 40. It was close early but the cubs just scored 2 pionys in the second and the hawks scored 25.
  5. Yeah They did! I was there watching them in the stands. They beat them on Gallatins home court.
  6. Who ever wins the regular season title this year will have several loses because every team is so competetive. Any night a team comes out and slips they are going to lose. The only team that will be down is springfield. Everyone else has a great shot at it. I think CHS didn't look very good at the jambore as a team but Caldwell was the best player. I know that I am not telling you somthing you don't know but if anyone can slow him down then they can win that game. Has anyone ever put an athletic big guy on him. It would be alittle harder for him to get a clean look at the basket. Kenwood looked much improved but can they put it together for the whole season. I thought Northeast looked like the team to beat but time will tell. Tonight Northwest has a huge test right out of the gate with Gallatin. They are big and fast but Rossview did beat them this summer. 1 Northeast 2 Clarksville 3 Dickson 4 Rossview 5 Kenwood 6 Henry County 7 Northwest 8 Springfield
  7. I have coached for the last 12 years as an assistant and taken all of the TSSAA classes for certification. I can be a head coach of a major sport. I choose not to due to the time it demands. I work a regular job and have been able to due this everywhere I have coached.
  8. Monday is the big day!! Most schools have just two weeks until they play. It doesn't seem like there is enough time. Should basketball start a week before or should the Hall of Fame Games be done away with?
  9. Fred Harper is the only boy's coach Rossview has known. The school announced his retirement today. This year the Hawks made it to the region for the first time in school history. He will be replaced by Johnny Jackson who has coached at Clarksville Academy, Cheatham Co, and the last two years as the Rossview girls coach.
  10. MCHS is in the middle of the pack in district 11 aa and have had up and down play this year. They have a good shooter in flake and they always play had. Rossview has won 4 out of last 5 and they are being lead by soph Amanda Reeves. She is a streaky shooter but she can catch fire in a hurry. I think both teams match up well. I say Rossview by 5 since they are at home.
  11. I saw creekwood play twice and they are a scappy team. I think they will finish in the top four. They have some nice sets and the two post players play well together. Their only problem is the district they are in. This distict reminds me of the SEC in football. It is just tough to get alot of wins and they have some very good teams in the top three. Creekwood would be better off to be in 10-aaa. They would the third best team behind Dickson and Northeast. This District has been about match-ups for the last several years. Any given night someone might lose. My Rankings 1 Harpeth 2 Cheatham 3 Sycamore 4 Creekwood 5 MCHS 6 Waverley 7 Stewart co 8 Fairveiw
  12. Van Halen "Right Now" is one of the best songs for introductions. The intro is sweet!
  13. I agree, We have a meet the players night where the parents come to practice. They watch us coach there kid and we don't hold any thing back becuase they are there. Then we meet with them and tell them "we will talk to you about anything about your child but playing time or any other kids playing time. We discuss it up front and then that is it.
  14. Rossview host Dickson Co on Feb 14 at 6:00
  15. I don't think that there are many coaches that set out to humiliate a player. I know from my own expierance that you can sometimes get caught up in the moment and rip a player for a bad play and it can embarrass a player. I have also went back an apoligized for it. As long as they know you care for them and you are tring to make them better they are ok. It is like a parent and a child relationship some time you have to be the bad guy. If you don't care about them and you are ripping them all the time they are not going to respond to you. The coach has the responsability of getting a goup of teenagers to focus on accomplishing a goal that he and the team has set to acheive. That is a fancy way of saying they are trying to win. There are alot of dynamics that are involved. You as a coach are trying to mesh poeple form differnt backgrounds, home life and maturity level for just a few examples into one unit that can accomplish a goal. Sometimes you can't say please and you can't beg them to do it. Many times you end up ripping a player to get him to do what he or she is suppost to be doing. Most kids don't know how to work or work at the level it takes to win on a regular basis. It is not always easy or fun to put out that effort so you half to get after them in paractice and in the game. So some times what you see as a fan is not in the context of what is really going on between the player and Coach. You are seeing a snap shot what is really going on or has gone on in practice. You can't always judge until you have been there. I am not saying it is ok to purposely attack or humiliate a player. I don't think you should ever cuse at a player in High School but many Coaches choose to do that. Just know what all it takes to do the job before you make a harsh judgement.
