You’re wrong about this. I get being an an East Tennessee Homer, but York Institute lost by two to Gatlinburg Pitman in overtime. York does not have a senior on the team. They have a major D1 player that’s going to Clemson so takeoff your rose colored glasses. GC is also loaded and will be one of the favorites to win it all.

No, they did not throw a game. That guy is an idiot. They didn’t play well and in district 7 AAA if you don’t play well you get beat. This is not a cupcake district. Cumberland County high school is sitting at home because they didn’t play well. They are a very good team that did not make the region tournament and it wasn’t because they tanked. The Upperman program doesn’t dodge anyone. I remember years ago when you had Jackson County at their best Livingston and Upperman all in the same district and Coach McWilliams could have thrown a game to get opposite of the other two but did not. JC would go on to win their first of 4 gold balls in a row, Upperman won a couple of Silver balls along with Livingston winning 2 as well and not one time did Coach McWilliams throw a game to avoid playing those teams so keep your mouth shut about Upperman. This guy is just mad because his team got beaten on their home floor by a better team. Back to the topic of discussion…

Agreed!! 100% for those of us that have been around the game for a minute we’ve ended up on both sides of this argument. I guarantee you Coach Smith went out of his way to not score 100 points and to allow the other kids to have a little bit of dignity in defeat. When you have start up schools like this, they just don’t have the athletes to compete so these things happen. Maybe the Pickett County faithful have turned over a new leaf and they will cheer for Clarkrange and their players the next game lol

Upperman doesn’t tank. When you play bad you lose in our district. Tullahoma had some very good players they just didn’t execute well enough to win last night. As far as traveling to Tullahoma goes, it could be worse! Lawrence County is much further away lol.

Sometimes good teams have a bad day. Fulton has proven it can win at the highest level in TSSAA so I still say they are the favorites.

I just seen where Fulton got hammered by a very average Central Magnet team in December. They are not as unbeatable as I’ve been lead to believe.

Pickett County has a legit shot to win it all in Class A. Should be a great couple of weeks coming up!

The only way you get handed a gold ball is if you beat everybody on the floor and win your final game. White County is by no means a lock to win a very tough region or substate let alone the state tournament. However they have all the pieces it takes to win a state championship. They are the best team coming out of district 7 AAA and that is saying a lot because there are a lot of gold balls residing in these high schools up here.

I don’t see a lot of talk on the message boards about the AAA teams this year so I thought I would start one. Who does everyone think has the best chance of winning the gold ball in AAA this year? Who’s coming out of each region?

Do not know a lot about Tullahoma. I’m sure they have some good players and they are on their home floor so they will definitely be a tough out for Upperman. White County will win this region. I think LA advances to the substate as well and both teams go on to the state tournament. Upperman will reload after this year and be back on top very soon. Too many good players, and great coaches, to keep this program down for very long.

I’m thinking that Alcoa just figured out that not only can they play with Gatlinburg Pittman they can actually beat them. With the region tournament in Alcoa, they have to be the favorites to win the region tournament. No one wants to go to Central for a substate game. Been there done that did not end well.

GC vs York will be a dandy!

If Celina (now Clay County) would have had a 3 point line they would’ve beaten Bolton. Not sure what their record was but they had some unbelievable athletes lead by McDonalds All American Joey Coe. Someone from Clay fill in their stats.

I am sure Dyersburg has a very good team. There are always great athletes coming out of Dyer county. I doubt they could win if they shoot it this bad, but every team has a bad game or two. I have not seen film on them so I cannot say how they would match up against White county. White has a 6’3 post Player that will be an extremely tough matchup for anyone. In my opinion, White county has gotten better throughout the year and they are undoubtedly playing their best basketball right now. I think even Mushy Shockley could win with this team. For those of you that don’t know that’s an inside joke.

Upperman doesn't dodge anyone. They just aren’t playing well at the moment. Unless something major happens they won’t win a game in the region tournament. Scoring 35 a game doesn’t help. It’s hard to win when you can’t score.

White County is the favorite in AAA in my opinion. They’ve got size, speed, shooters and a good bench. They are solid on defense and have to be the favorite to win it all this year in AAA.

OK I was told it was at Lawrence County. So I hope you are right.

Can someone post the location of the region tournament with dates for boys and girls please. Thanks in advance. I am aware the top 2 seeds from each district host opening round while 3/4 travel. if one district sweeps the other district will they relocate it to the winning districts area?
