  1. I am not totally sure, but it's very likely a torn ACL. She was supposed to go to the doctor today.
  2. Porkchop, I don't recall "dogging" anyone for a misplayed ball. If it seemed as though we did, I apologize and assure you that our intention was not to attack the shortstop or to single her out. If anything I'm sure we were trying to cheer on our teammate for a hard hit ball. And if I were to respond directly to your comment I could say something like, "I guess where your from it's ok to dog HF's pitcher for showing up at the game." Fortunately I am moving on and getting over this little altercation. Apologies have been made and frankly it's silly to continue this. I wish Dickson County luck for the rest of their season, and once again apologize if it seemed at all like he HF players or parents "dogged" any player on the DC team.
  3. dropball-- the reason zachsdad didn't "just let it go" after the first six sentences is because it was an issue that needed to be brought up. As he stated, the majority of the fans and players were perfectly fine, but those boys, and I say boys because their actions don't merit their being called young men, were out of line. I, personally, am glad zachsdad was able to be as civil as he was because had I been the one to start this thread I can assure you it would not have the tone it does now. The reason I am most upset is that those boys targeted a young lady that never said or did anything to deserve their taunting and I know it took everything she had to prevent herself from responding. And finally, the thing that gets me most and the reason I most needed to post is this: On Saturday night I had to watch one of my very good friends cry, not because of a lost ballgame but because she had to stand out in the field and be berated for an entire game, simply because she was on the other team. I understand it wasn't the whole Dickson Co. team nor all their fans, but the fact that it wasn't stopped by anyone just doesn't seem right. All in all i just hope that those of you reading this thread will remember that although you want your respective teams to win, it's never ok to attack another team and it's players who are just trying to win a game that they enjoy, and by you making vulgar and mean-spirited comments, you take away that enjoyment. So cheer for your team and at the end of the day be glad that you can hold your head up and know that win or lose your team and its fans are respected and have class.

    Hume-Fogg

    1981 Eagle: Are you a Shelby Park-er?!!!!
  5. I can only assume that MLK had a strong group of fans led by mightyroyal, the man with the 'fro. I hope I assume correctly. Sorry about the loss y'all. You played an awesome season!! - a friend from the Fogg
  6. Brooke Heriges, a freshman from Hume-Fogg will be one to watch out for over the next four years. She pretty much does it all. She plays just about anywhere and does so well. She also has a good bat and she is extremely dedicated. She is definitely a huge asset to the Hume-Fogg team.
  7. First off, I agree with Alex that Johnny Lee should have had MVP. As all of you have said he had an AWESOME tournament. And just because Corey Brewer is an all-american that does not mean he should automatically get other awards. If Johnny plays better than Corey he should gain the reward. Second of all, aj-- it's not right for you to attack the character of a person like alex based solely on some comments he posts on the internet nor on his play on the court. You've said several times your opinion of him has changed, but have you ever actually had a conversation face to face with Alex Renfro. I can't say he and I are best friends or anything but i do know him well enough to know what a well-mannered, kind, person he is and what a selfless player he is. I had to say something because I can't stand to see somebody attack a kid like Alex the way you did. Alex is a great team leader and motivator and it's obvious how much his teammates and coaches respect and admire him for more than just his talent on the court. That has to say something for what kind of kid he is. Good Luck to everyone left in the tournament but mostly good luck to Hume-Fogg tomorrow night! I know you guys can handle MLK you just gotta go in with a positive attitude and keep up your morale. The whole school has faith in you and I want to see you guys play next week since I can't make it tomorrow!
  8. Hey MaMo and Al! Congrats on your all-tournament and all district honors, you deserve them! Y'all are right on. I'm sick of hearing about how Hume-Fogg's going to get beat. I don't know if y'all have noticed but the Hume Fogg girls have been tough to beat this year and I know that they're fired up so watch out 7AA.
  9. Ryann King of Hume Fogg hit her 1000th point last night against East Lit. She is also a junior.
  10. Wow I love figuring out who people are on this thing! Anyway I agree with sean on everything he's said so far, especially your PT, B. Anyway, I hope you guys can pull it out this season. Y'all are awesome, you just have to prove it now!
  11. No matter what, beating DL is a huge step for the HF girls. In the three years I've been at HF, there has been enough if not more than enough talent to compete with and beat DL, however, Hume-Fogg has always had a problem with their mental game when it came to playing schools with big reputations like DL. They've now proven to themselves that David Lipscomb can be beat and I think a lot of that mental stuff is coming down..... Take it to 'em ladies....
  12. KillaWiZzeE21: I wish I knew who you were... I think I might... I'm an HF-er too! I pretty much agree with everything you said especially about east. A team can't win with too many cooks in the kitchen. That yelling at your teammate buisness doesn't cut it. As for MLK, you said that for an undefeated team you haven't heard much about a standout star... I think that's exactly why they are undefeated. It's a team thang baby. I just wish HF would pick up their momentum sooner.. I'm tired of being on edge!
  13. Lil Al, I'll agree at this point that the HF girls are the best in 8AA, but as for the region, i dunno. I'm pretty sure Jackson Co. and Livingston Academy are both in our region and HF has not managed to come close to Jackson County. I personally think that this is because of a mental thing, but unless the HF girls block out the thoughts of Jackson County being "dominant" they won't win region.
  14. I'm not sure but an earlier post by someone or other said he's ineligible for the remainder of the season. If this is so, there is quite a dent in the Hume-Fogg bench.
  15. Joe Ebanks and Jared Crowe are the two ineligible players for Hume-Fogg.
  16. I like dunks, and when the team is up or down I think it's perfectly fine, but when a game is tight and you have a wide open layup i would just prefer to see the guys score two points with a layup rather than a dunk potentially clanging off the rim....
  17. Thank you Topperman! I've said this all along; yes, dunks are impressive. That's why we all love the Harlem Globetrotters. But, there's a time and a place for it. Like everyone else has said, Brewer's dunk was only two points, two risky points, and they still lost!

Hawk17: No, a missed dunk didn't cost them the game, but there was one that from that game that just stuck out in my mind. Joe Ebanks had a wide open lay-up and ran in for a dunk and it flew off the rim, we got the rebound and two put back attempts with a foul on the last attempt and i think we only made one free throw. It just seems that HF tries to entertain sometimes when they should focus on simply scoring and running up their lead. I think this contributes to some losses. I agree that they are definitely the most talented team, but they seem to make a lot of these errors in judgement. It also frustrates me that Ranard Robinson is taller than most guys out there and gets in foul trouble so often for swatting at the bal etc. All he has to do is stand there!! I just hope they get it together soon.

I still wish that the guys from Hume-Fogg would get that gelling thing going. It stinks to watch such a talented team lose. Also, I still have a major complaint with them and with guys basketball in general: Why, in a close game, try to dunk rather than simply lay it up? I like dunks just as much as the rest of the fans in the stands but, it's just as entertaining when you're a good bit ahead of the other team. At the end of the night after a loss, are people going to remember the dunk or the loss?

I don't know if I'd go that far but I do think that Hume-Fogg has gotten to a point where sometimes making the flashy play or the "amazing" dunk is more important to them than the simple layup that will push them two more points ahead. Don't get me wrong, I love to see those awesome plays, but I love to see my HF boys win even more.
  21. Alex Renfroe is the kind of player you love to watch. He's all over the court, he's a team player, and he's a playmaker. Also, on defense, he absolutely hawks it.
  22. Anybody know the score and what happened in the Hume-Fogg/ Upperman game? Any info is greatly appreciated.
  23. Hey who won tonight? Anybody? Girls too if you know... couldn't make it to the game... flu. Thanks
  24. I think Hume-Fogg should have a very good chance against Upperman. It's true that Upperman put Hume-Fogg out of the tournament two years in a row, but the boys from HF have been looking forward to this game ever since. They're gunnin' for em'.
  25. Did I miss something? MLK is in the top 20, East Lit. is an honorable mention, and Hume-Fogg didn't even get on the list?!?!? I'm sure it must be an error.
