QueenBee, the team plaques were presented to the head coaches while the players stood on respective baselines. Then the teams were thrown a garbage bag with T-shirts in them to disperse amidst the players. No MVP, no all-tourney selections and the tourney officials seemed to be in a hurry to get out of there. Other than that the tourney seemed to run well from the winners bracket perspective.

I wish Unicoi County good luck this next week but you don't have to worry about hitting "off speed" pitches. It's the 60+ mph pitcher which every team probably has that will give teams trouble. Several of them pitchers will have pinpoint control along with a wicked riseball(Rhodes). Small ball could be the rule of the week.

Lets go with the favorites and then maybe sleeper: D2-Favorite Baylor, sleeper Brentwood Aca. . A- Goodpasture sleeper Boyd Buchanon. AA- Lipscomb sleeper Lenoir City. AAA- Soddy Daisy sleeper Farragut.

Lenoir City is 28-10.

They did pitch to her but they pitched carefully. She was 2-3 with 2 singles and they walked her once. All year teams have pitched carefully to her but in all of my years watching baseball and softball (and thats alot) I don't recall anybody that is so patient and will not swing at a pitch out of the zone. She is gooooood!

Lenoir City goes back to state with an 8-0 win over the Cyclones. LC hit the ball well but received alot of help from Elizabethton (errors). Hicks let up 1 hit and had 15 strikeouts. Two outstanding plays by Vaughn at SS and Waller at CF. We didn't have any HR's but Hicks hit one off of the fence in the first inning to score what proved to be the winning run. "Betsy" played hard and showed good sportsmanship tonight and we thank them for that. MEMPHIS BOUND!

i have never seen unicoi co. play so it is hard to put a prediction on the game...they do seem to be on a mission though this year with some determination...on the other hand though one thing i have learned over the years is to never rule kingston out...they have won some games that have surprised and turned some people's heads. knowing girls from kingston and being in their district i will be pulling for kingston!!! good luck kingston!!! i look for this to be a real good game.

Region 2AA score Lenoir City 5 Kingston 2. We welcome the Cyclones down south here on Friday. It will be nice to play somebody else for a change since we have played Kingston 4 times in the last 12 days. Kingston will travel to Unicoi county on Friday. Do we have any predictions for these games?

Lenoir City-3 Alcoa-0. Alcoa 1 hit and LC had 3. Rumor has it that Kingston went up to Gibbs and beat them 5-3. Anyone know the facts?

I agree wholeheartedly TNT, J. Moore I believe could throw runners out from her knees. I have seen the catcher from UT play several times and my own personal view is that Moore is better. As far as Gibbs goes they will be in the hunt every year as long as Coach Mitchell is there. I just hope that we can get by Alcoa on monday to maybe play them on Wednesday. It's been good games for the past couple of years between Lenoir City and Gibbs.

tough loss for Motlow but they can still play thru the losers bracket. Never say die! LC's first game tonight was against Kingston after a first round bye. We won 10-0. Tommee threw her first perfect game of the season but I'm just a proud dad.

An earned run is when a person gets on base and advances around the bases without the benefit of an error. I know my daughters ERA is higher than last years it went from 0.54 to 0.86. We also replaced all of last years A and AA competition with AAA compeitition and towards the end of the year i can see a real improvement in our teams play which is where a good ERA really comes from. Strikeouts are great but turning double plays and getting someone to pop a bunt up or getting a pop up when the batter needs a grounder is just as great.

I am senoir on the Lenoir City softball team and couldn't imagine having to quit this season. You did the right thing but it isn't whether or not you did the right thing. The matter here is that you had to do that. A player should never have to do that and give up the game they love to play for a coach. Luckily I am blessed with a couple of caring coaches that don't only care about us as player but also as young ladies and their futures. I am sorry for the situation you were put in. I have had a coach that has made me quit even though I loved the game before (this is pertaining to a different sport) but it is all the same when you love to play. A player shouldn't have to go through that. Coaches have to not only look at the player and their stats but the person they are and the life they live. I am truly blessed with sincere coaches and stories like this should make other players feel lucky for the coaches they have. Even though you had a bad situation you were wrongly put in don't lose the love for the game it only can make you stronger when they try to make it not worth playing. A coach can take your playing time away from you but can't take the love for the game.

DDP- It was a good game against Bearden. We chipped away at them with a run in the 1rst and couple more in the second. Heather pitched for Bearden and did an okay job. We put alittle pressure on their defense and the defense let her down. They are a tough team with good hitters so I look for them to compete well in their district tourney. somuch78- they named an all tourney team but I only know the girls from Lenoir City. Sarah Vaughn and Tommee Hicks.

Lenoir City beat Knox West 13-1 and Bearden 5-1.

Just finished a good ballgame between Farragut-Lenoir City. Farragut wins 4-1 in 8 innings. Two good pitchers pitched well and 2 good defenses that played well. tough loss for Hicks with a drop third strike and a throwing error to let up Farraguts only run in regulation. good luck to everyone in upcoming district tournies.

Lenoir City-5 Tn. High-3. Sarah Vaughn hit a mammoth home run to help aid the victory. Defense played really well after the 2nd inning. Long day tomorrow with Farragut,West, and Bearden.

yeah LadyJacket04, It is really nice to see you back on the field. Good to hear you all are playing well. Well in a way that is! We swept the double header last night with Scott Co. Last district game is against you all. That is going to be a good game. We play in the Region II Challenge this weekend. We have 1 game tonight and 3 games tomorrow. There is some tough competition in this tournament. We are going to be at the ball fields all day Saturday so it is going to be nice to watch some good ball be played in between games. We received our schedule tonite from the coach and our schedule has L.C. playing Farragut on Sat. at 10:30 am. Either Farragut or Wm. Blount will be very tough but playing against good teams this time of year will help us get ready for AA competition. DDP hope you can come over and watch this weekend. Does anybody know the schedule for the tournament this weekend at Karns/Farragut? All I know at the present is that we (Lenoir City) plays at 9:00 friday night. Don't know whom or the rest of the schedule. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hey dirtydiamondplayer, We lost 1-0 to anderson co. It was a hard fought game but we made mental errors on the bases and hesitation beat us. We just couldn't do anything to get a run across. It just wasn't our night. We put the ball in play we just couldn't hit a hole. AC played well and it was a good win for them and a good loss for us. I know there really is no good loss but it woke us up a little I believe. The last district game should be May 6 with us and Kingston. We play Scott Co. tomorrow. Practice today is going to be tough I have a feeling. We have kinks we need to work on before the big tournament begins. We will and we will bounce back from this. You take your wins with your losses. We win as a team and we lose as a team and when things need to be worked on we work it out in practice as a team. The team has really came together and become strong. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Just remember all that truely matters is the district tournament and season is just a warm up for it.
