  1. Sherman did not mention anyone getting hurt, but he did say it was # 10 and # 3 that brought Ensworth back in the second half.
  2. not that I am aware. I have a friend at the game giving me periodic updates.
  3. BA 27-24 with 6 minutes left in the 4th
  4. BA 24-10 at halftime from someone at the game.
  5. BA is co-ed, as is Ensworth. Both chose to "play up" in a higher enrollment classification. The logic of doubling single sex schools (and this applies to Harpeth Hall and GPS, for example) is that the school has a larger pool of students to draw from than an equal sized co-ed school: in a 500 student co-ed school it would be expected that roughly 250 would be of the opposite sex, but in a single sex institution all 500 would be of one gender, hence a greater population of potential athletes to draw upon. Am I correct in this assesment?
  6. I think the schools you list as having doubled enrollment is not because they give financial aid, but because they are single sex.
  7. They (McCallie) had a game scheduled and when the opportunity to play Riverdale came along made arrangements to get out of the scheduled date in order to make the Riverdale game happen.
  8. I believe stbulldog is correct: two divisions in DII, with the listed "AAA" teams, the "AA" teams, and JPII being in the "AA" division, while those listed in "A" will stay there.
  9. I have been under the impression that the NFHS rule about recognizing only one sanctioning body per state is part of the problem as well; being that a game between two schools from different sanctioning bodies is not allowed. (And I think the penalties for such a contest can be quite harsh.) If the TSSAA wins, and there is a total split between public and private, I would expect discussion and possible future legal action in that area.
  10. He is: New Chattanooga Central Football Coach Announced
  11. any word on the DII winners?
  12. as someone on the periphery of chattanooga private schools, I can safely say that from what I've heard, and those people I have talked to, there is nothing but the utmost respect for Riverdale, their players, and their coaches from the McCallie people. I saw the game earlier in the year and was impressed by the sportsmanship shown by all those involved on the field. Coach A is a class act, and I wish him and his team well for the remainder of the season.
  13. I watched it and had no problems. I thought the quality was very good as well. Looking forward to seeing Friday's game now.
  14. I think Tyner being a "magnet" school might have something to do with it.
  15. I would love to see Riverdale - McCallie at Finley. McCallie tried to book Finley, but it was taken that weekend. I spoke with someone in the athletic department at McCallie and he said they hoped to be able to make the game with Riverdale a "regular" thing, and have it at Finley in the future.
  16. I know that the schools have to "rent" the stadium in order to play a game there, and they give up all concession and parking only taking the gate. If I remember correctly the price to rent the field is in the 5 to 6 thousand dollar range. If you don't draw a good crowd you lose money on the deal. I know the Baylor/McCallie game has been there the past five years at least. I don't think UTC has much to do with the running of the stadium as it is owned by Frank Burke (or more correctly he runs it) who owns the Chattanooga Lookouts. Having said that, I would think the more UTC could show off its facilities to potential recruits and walk-ons, the better off they would be...
  17. No announcement has been made officially (that I know of), but McCallie has dropped Treadwell and replaced them with a game against Riverdale.
  18. The latest I've heard is that Bill Curry (Current ESPN Commentator) will be interviewed next week for the AD position...
  19. From looking at early results I would say that the two favorites right now have to be BA and MBA, ,with MUS and McCallie having an outiside chance. I've been hearing that Marty Ross from BA has a hamstring injury and may not be able to compete, which would hurt BA in the points race, and be a shame for such a great young man.
  20. Sorry, CC, I didn't mean to speak for you, or step on any toes. I didn't read the original question very carefully. My bad.
  21. They were a one year deal, as Georgia contracts were re-done for the upcoming season.
  22. For the past four years I have been checking both the Earl Nall poll and the Kenneth Massey poll. Personally I like the Massey poll better--it gives a good overall non-classification ranking and is also broken down into divisions. Check it out at Massey Ratings
  23. check the thread in the 4A-5A-D II message board, it seems to have the answers...
