Congrats Walker Valley!! Looked like the toughest team in the tournament this weekend. Do I smell a AA State Champion? I feel I have to explain the 14-0 score. As I had posted earlier, we had prom this weekend and only one starter was there for the elimination round. Kristen Murr stepped in and did a great job on the mound, but she was the only pitcher that was there (out of 5). She was hurt in the Walker Valley game and our backup shortstop came in to pitch. Gutty performance by the Farragut JV. Way to go girls!!

It has been quiet this year. The rain, spring break, more rain. It just doesn't seem like the season has gotten started. We are bumping non-district games to get in District games that have not been played. If it rains any more, we will have to double up. We need two solid weeks of good weather.

Good game Hendersonville. Farragut had three starters. Everyone else was getting ready for the prom. Those two starters left after the Hendersonville game. Good Luck Lady Ads!!

They cetainly have the upper hand right now. The 1-0 win over Farragut last week was key. I think Sally knowing that she has to carry the load this year has helped them. Heritage and Farragut have not played yet (2 games next week). That may determine the other contender. Farragut and Bearden still have another game left, so it is really up in the air.

Farragut will be there for pool play on Friday night and Saturday morning, but elimination will be schetchy. Our Juniors and Seniors (and a couple of sophomores) have to leave early that afternooon. IT'S PROM NIGHT!!! We may have enough to put a team together.

The key hit from Downan came with a runner on second. She squared to bunt and our shortstop ran to cover third, and Haley hit it right to where she was. By the time short had recovered, the run had scored. Farragut had Jessie Howard at 3rd in the first inning with out out and could not bring her in. Those were the key plays in the game. Good game Bearden.

Looks like a great game. This district is up in the air again. Farragut and Bearden play tonight for the early district lead. However, with Maryville's win over Heritage last night, they may be a factor. Farragut goes to Sandy Springs tomorrow night.

Haven't heard the official word, but the rain is still coming and will be all day.

Farragut got beat by a very strong team from VA. It was a 1-0 pitchers duel. Farragut was up 1-0 on CAK in the bottom of the second when the rain came. We are to be back at the park for a 1:00pm game tomorrow and I heard they will start elimination at that pont. I also heard that Candice Irwin of Central went down tonight and was carried from the field. Is that true? Any word on her condition? If true, it is a shame. Great player.

Rachel pitched out of two key situations in the game. Farragut had 2nd and 3rd with no one out TWICE and didn't score. The only score came on a SAC FLY by Margaret in the first inning. It was a great game and a key win for Farragut. WB will hurt some people this year. Good to see you VTEC.

Should be a good game. We haven't played in two weeks so take it easy on us. See you there.

I just re-read this post after some time. I hate it when I'm right (it happens alot). Farragut has been off for two weeks now. We played Halls and lost on the first day, then rain outs, then spring break. I feel like we are strating the season all over again.

Dang!! I don't think anybody scored that much on Central all last year. Farragut plays WB next Tuesday, hopefully ya'll got all that hitting out of your system. Congratulations. Tell McGill not to get the big head.

VTEC, What was the score when Candice was pulled? Did Rachel hit the HR of Candice? Good Win, WB. Knox County Schools are on Spring Break this week, so most are not playing. Obviously, Central is.

I agree completely VCR. I was treasurer for our booster club last year and nobody told me about the gate money. When the person working the gate gave me the money I thought, WOW look at all this MONEY, and took it home to deposit in the bank. I got a call at home that night telling me to bring it to the school. I was clear from that point on. I do know that gate money gets used for the program because the booster club does not pay for umpires, away game buses, tournaments, tournament hotel rooms and unifroms. Money we raise does two primary things: 1) capital improvements to the field and 2) supplement program costs for anything not covered by the gate receipts. A big hit to our program last year was going to state in Memphis. It depleted our funds and we have been working all year to recover. Don't get me wrong, we wouldn't trade that experience for anything and Farragut is working hard to try and go again, but Memphis was expensive. I would like to hear how other booster clubs operate and what kind of fundraisers are done? VTEC, how did WB get that nice clubhouse built? VCR, same thing at Halls. We are contemplating an improvement like that, but I would like to hear how some other people got it done.

I am president of the booster club and none of that money comes to the booster club. It is managed by the school. We put someone at the gate, but the tickets are handed to us before the game and the money is collected after the game. I will check with the school on the admission. We did charge $4 at the gate for the Halls game, but if everyone else is charging $3, I will see about getting that changed. I know West charges $5.

Farragut at Heritage is cancelled. Next week is spring break and that means we will have played 1 game in the first two weeks.

How does the TSSAA let people get by with free!! Do these schools pay the TSSAA because part of proceeds is supposed to go to them.

I think $4 is pretty standard from what I have seen. One team in the Knoxville area charges $5, but the rest have been $4. I would like to know what some of the teams from other areas charge and how they handle gate receipts.

Riverdale will be tough this year. Farragut played Riverdale at the Beech Playday and fortunately won 1-0. Falon Catalano struck out 12 in 6 innings and many of our girls had never seen movement like that. I don't know about Blackman, other than they were are State last year. Riverdale has good hitting through the lineup. Margaret had 9 Ks in 6 against them, but they hit the ball well when they got ahold of it. Their lead-off hitter is tough. Congratulations on a good start Riverdale.

Coach23, how about Hanna Gaylon? Is she still 3B?

Vercoe must be OK. I understand she was injured at the Beech Playday?

BW really punched it. We thought it was going out. It hit one of the fence post and Amy Josephson (centerfield) was right on top of it, but it squirted back to the centerfield position. Both runs scored on the hit were unearned. W - Russell (7IP, 7 Hits, 1BB, 2K) L - Morris(7IP, 4 Hits, 0BB, 9K) This format for reporting pitching stats is a good one TNT. Mind if I borrow it?
