  1. With the loss of Trey Alred due to discipline kinda hurt Marshall County. hey do have a young coach that has a bright future. Give him time, and he will bring the program back to where it was a few years ago.
  2. This is a pretty young team. The Roberts kid is young, and will be brilliant one fay. They have a good coach. The only thing at this point they are lacking that a, Humboldt, Union City, Dyer County, or a Southside has is a super star. Gibson County plays with heart but lacks the athletes that they other power AA teams have. Down the stretch GC will win games because of their heart and their new coach. As you can see GC plays more of an up-tempo game with its pressure. I can see a difference already.
  3. Being Pretty hard on the MVP of the your football state championship game..lol Is he that big of a distraction?
  4. Mike Walker, and maybe Reggie Robinson, he had a pretty decent career.
  5. Crossup, what about this new kid that is suppose to be eligible for fridays game. I heard he is like NW's secret weapon? Is that true? It also seems that you are very close to Townley and co. You should tell him to be more aggressive. He has to take more shots. It seems as if he has no help. If he is avg. 20 ppg, he needs to average about 28 for them, to be contenders in the district. Also what is the purpose of the NW offense, is it to get it inside or take the best shot? It seems as they are very confused at times, where the ball should be going?
  6. Quinn's is still getting recruited to play at the next level. He is very capable of puting up 15 per night, he is explosive, and very athletic. He just defers to Bracey. Thats why he might have 15 here, and 12 here, then an occasional 8 there. He does what his coach needs for him to do to win.
  7. I agree, Ramon Williams may be the most underrated player in the entire state. Averging 18 points for the best team West Tn, says a LOT, but all you hear about are the Delks. They are very talented and are deserving, but Northside has other kids that deserve recognition as well. Like Jerrell Shankilin, he is the glue of the team. (takes charges, dives on the floor, and plays lock defense)
  8. They have a very good coach, just be patient with him. He can turn that program around with time.
  9. Bolivar vs. Jackson NS, Who are you picking in this one? Northside took the last one on a neutral site. This one is in Jackson. Every NS starter will play some level of college basketball. Bolivar is lead by two young studs, but Northsides experience will decide this game. Northside by 10.
  10. I tried to stay away from this post, but Big Jack lured me in. A coach should only control things that happens on game day not every day life. How can a coach tell a player what to wear on days they dont have a game or practice. Dont get me wrong abide by the rules, while in school, on a road trip, or team function, because the coach is responsible for the kids, but telling them that you cant wear an earing or wear you hat a certain way is ridiculous, and punish a child for it is even more crazy. Let the kids be kids, and the coach be a mentor, not a dictator. You are hired to coach, and win games. What happens a coaches control starts to affect how much a team wins?? Then you have a problem. Cause I know that you will not want to play for that coach, and you will not have any trust for the coach because he is not looking after their well being. He just doesnt want to be affliated with kids that dress like that, so he controls what they wear. Clothes DO NOT make a kid. Good home training does.
  11. Gomab, I agree, Pete Rogers is a good high school player, has alot of heart and will thrive at the NAIA level. Im not sure if Antwan will be a star but he should have a stellar career. Only time will tell, but he be very solid, because of his athletic ability. He will be able to defend most threes, but still will be undersized. Most DI 3 men are 6'5 and above, unless its low mid major, If they are any shorter they can shoot the lights out and their team runs a three guard offense. Please dont get me wrong, He is VERY athletic with alot of heart, so anything is possible.
  12. Harris can play DI but not in the post. He is a phenomenal Athlete. I think Drake's brother will stay out of his decision. Its not about how much natiional attention you get its about where your heart is at, and Drake's is on the hardwood.
  13. Harris was getting alot of DI attention post AAU season, and probably should have taken advantage of the early signing period because he is not on a stellar team. He played on the wing some in AAU, but has to play in the post fro his high school team. He is 6'3 super athletic, but lets face it he cant play post at that level. Im not really sure who is recruiting him now. Reed will play basketball, although he is a good football prospect. Sources say that his heart is more into the hardwood.
  14. So the kids were African American? I wasnt sure all I heard was that they were ethnic. I cant believe this. So it has been confirmed. Laps before a game against a county rival, and this supposedly happened the night before when they didnt even have a game? WOW, what kind of program is being run down there. I remember my coach giving us a dress code on gameday, but on our own time we could wear what we wanted. This is borderline funny.
  15. K. Townley is a very good high school player but coming on this board and saying that Florida contacted coach Ross is a little off base. Louisville signed Sebastian Telfair #1 point guard in the nation, and Florida usually gets parade all-americans every year. Townley is very good, and will play college ball but not at a Sec school, Conference USA. All of your other picks are solid, but I think Greg Bronson needs to get some love. He is a future star at CHS. You heard it here first. He is a super soph. He is avg about 9 points, but has put up a few double figure games including a 23 point performance. He is just waiting his turn. Reed, and Phlegier were AAU teamates last yr, and they made All Tourney in almost every one the played in. They are having very good yrs. Harris is playing consistant as you stated. Quinn B. is very underated. Could be a star, but is your consumate team player. Burney has had the luxury of signing early hasnt put up big numbers since is 34 point effort. Team is stuggling. I cant leave out Bolden, he is one of the most underated plaers in the city. Plays very hard.
  16. Last I heard his dad is a professor at Freed, and his brother Eric played ball at Freed, after transferring from MTSU. Freed is a tradtion rich Baseball school. From what I heere he is a more hearlded as baseball player than basketball. But could very well play 2 sports there.
  17. #1 bear, Ive heard this to be true as well. I couldnt believe it because it was before a ball game, but what I heard.....Is that about 5 players had on earings, valor suits and ball caps twisted to a side at a Trenton girls game the night before they played milan. He made them run like 75 lines right before the Milan game( No wonder the blow out score!). Keep in mind that all of these players are of ethnic origin. And from what Ive been told all these guys are great kids. If this is to be true he is in a heap of trouble. Why cripple a kid of his culture, on a day that they dont have a game! If they were at the local Krogers with the same outfit would you make them run the next day as well? Wow it really is a dictatorship over there. Who wants to play for a guy like that. Can a coach do that???? Is that ethical? Please opinions! And this is someones pick for best coach..
  18. JVaughn, It is very early, but in scrimmages, and practices is where you shuffle, not in games that count in the W/L column. Its not the second half of the season which means district time, and Trenton has not improved as a ballclub. They are inconsistant at best. So he is sitll trying to find a rotation and its January. No doubt Trenton will be one of the last standing, because West Tn class A ball is not very strong. Halls, Greenfield, and Trenton, West Carroll, and the private schools of Jackson. Not very competitive, huh. Mcullar was a good leader, but he had a kid named Quinton Yarbrugh that scored like 35 + against Mem Mitchell, and never really played much....And do you know why? It was because he was too Flashy..... Give me a break....He was better than MCcullar and Wilson both, but didnt play because he was too flashy???????? Remember the jury is out!!
  19. Jvaughn, There is a difference in being animated, and just being plain obnoxious. You can put everything in it (Heart, time). But that doesnt mean that you are have the ability to coach a ball club. Trust me I know it doesnt take alot of height to win in class A, but to have it is a plus, and they do. The reason they dont have those championship is there is no leadership, or mentorship, but alot of dictatorship, but thats another issue. Hands down my Starting five would be the Easley, Ramsey, Fields, Doaks, and Avery. But what do I know. Im no coach, just a very avid fan. He can go deeper, but he has yet to develop a consistant rotation, or starting lineup. There is no, "let me go with my best five, take it hard on the chin, but we will be ready in March" mentality. You cant yank a kid after a mistake and expect him to play with confidience later in the year. I just see a scatter brained coach that has a goldmine, and doenst know what to do with it.
  20. Im not saying that Sisco is a bad person, but he doesnt seem to have a feel for the game. They were in all of those games, but there was no strategy involved so he got out coached. First he puts Avery on Henry Atkinson, who may be arguably one of the best peremiter in rural West Tn. Avey is a good athlete but having him guard him one on one a pee-wee coach can make a better judgement call than that. He subs for mistakes not for situations, or fatigue. I think its best for Doaks as a individual to play perimeter, but he isnt ready for that. Thats what AAU and the offseason is for. Avery can play inside and out, but lacks the strength to bang, as well as Doaks. Ramsey can shoot the 3, and Easley can run the offense. It seems to me that these kids. Detric Fields is the best athlete on the team. You have a soph class of studs, to go along with Doaks, and Avery. The past trenton teams were short. Easley, Wilkes, and Tyler were all under 6'3. They beat up on AA, and three A teams during their stretch without a legit inside player. This team has size, speed and heart. But if you cant develop a consistant sub pattern, you will never get your young players ready in March. How will the younger players develop and know their roles if you have Doaks and Avery play guard. He has missed the opportunity to get them ready and build confidence in the early games by being stubborn. Now its a crap shoot. They may make it far in march, but ALOT has to change. I once believed in this Sisco, but now the jury is out on him.
  21. Trenton has not had that tough of a schedule. They actually have more overall talent than the teams that beat greenfield about 20 times in a row until 1997. They have size, speed capable guard play. From what I can tell he doesnt even know what he wants to do, has no rotation, no patience, and is about to ruin a great stretch of talent. Harry Ferguson had his only losing season in his last, then came Sisco. He has underachieved at Peabody. He kicks bleachers, yells at players. I guess he went to the Bobby Knight school of coaching. He cant even find a point guard, is it #15, or #41 or is it the Doaks kid, and STORM, if you are out there I guess the Easley kid did not establish himself as the starter.
  22. Clint Sisco, what a joke....revitalized Trenton....Thats even more funny..lol
  23. Humboldt is a year away from being a state wide contender. Ive heard that they are not well coached, but I also heard that the coach may step down at the end of the yr, or asked to leave. However like most things it could just be speculation. I really dont think height will be a major factor for them, Trenton Peabody had 8 yr run of vertically challenged athletes, and was always the top team in West TN (91-99) Those teams Handled Humboldt, Milan, and GC. They actually made it to state two out of four yrs. So it can be done with a short team, but they have to play very fast, use pressure defense and use their speed as an advantage. Joe Shivers has been a phenom since age 12. He can shoot the lights out, but before he becomes a legit D-1 prospect he has to learn to how to put it on the floor. He still has time for that.
  24. Well GC will always be in the hunt, David Russell is argubly the best coach in the entire state. ie..discipline, X, 0's, conditioning. He usually doesnt have the althletes that say a Peabody has, but continues to develop stars from the ground up. Ny far the most talented player he coached was Michelle Street, T. Tuggles was good, and we cant forget the J. Henson, she gives Street a run for her money. But now at GC he is buliding a legacy that will continue until he decides to leave. He has brought GC basketball back to what it used to be. Thats why GC will always be in the mix come March. If it comes down to being outcoached, it will not happen.
  25. Fan000, Duke?? I have a very good friend that was not very decorated out of high school, only avg 10 points. He had a coach that would not help him go. He went on to JUCO and averaged 20ppg. Then went to a NAIA school and averaged 25 and was an All-American. I wont reveal my identity, but I was up for the most prestigious honor in TN, went on to play DI, and now im here posting on coach T, while he is on his way to the Phillipines to make nearly 6 figure dollars. The point is its about talent, timing and having a little luck on your side. Jarret is a smart kid and will play college ball somewhere. What happens next who knows. Kemp, the Delks, and co. are getting attention soley because of their youth, and upside. They are talented young players, with good size. But no one knows what will happen to them when they get to college.
