  1. Any radio on this one? If so, please post. Other than 'the hill', who is in the championship game for the other region?
  2. I don't think they will win it, but are they going to make it to state? I got a feeling they are. They look like a different team than the one that lost to Cosby in the district title game. If they win the region, who would more than likely be their opponent? I haven't kept up w/ the other region very well.
  3. Sportznut, I agree with you concerning the free throws. But as i stated earlier, Midway missed more than enough to put the game away in the last quarter. Just goes to show you that every missed FT could come back and bite you in the end. Whether it was in the 1st qtr or the last second of the game. Congrats to the Tigers, you have a fine team.
  4. Thoughts and predictions. I believe they split during the season. If CAK wins this game, I think they will win the region. Go Dogs!!!
  5. Toss-up. Hackler should defend Blakney better than CAK's posts. With Peddicord taking some turns. I think Cosby's #44 won't get many open looks versus Rockwood. I'm waiting for Manning to have a big game in this one. He's been sitting back, being patient, not forcing anything the last few games...... Rockwood wants to make this a halfcourt game, obviously. With their 2 big men, they will want to take advantage of Cosby's lack of height. Cosby, as usual, has the edge from behind the arc. Rockwood will need to make a couple early 3's to stretch Cosby's defense and open the middle for Hackler, Harvest and Peddicord. Coaching is even, both will have good game plans and their teams will be ready. I'll go Cosby by 5 in a heck of a chess game.
  6. Why is it when a team doesn't play as well as they can, that it is always"we played our worst game of the year"???? Maybe the reason you didn't play good is because the other team on the court took you out of your game. It happens. Yea, Rockwood didn't play to their full capability. Midway must have missed 8 free throws in the 4th, or else this game is won in regulation. How many flops did Rockwood take on "charges". What about Coach K interfering(purely an accident) with a sideline pass? It's just the nature of the game. Breaks go both ways. Rockwood should have won the game by 20 points, but lil' ol' Midway took the fight to them and almost advanced. One thing is certain, if Rockwood players have that type of attitude going into the Cosby game.......the Eagles will soar.
  7. they were late for 2 games in a row. what kind of committment do these guys have to their team??? sounds like they should be playing for the 76ers, they'd make a good threesome with Iverson!!!
  8. I have read the comment in the paper. He did say it. I too think it was a statement intended for team motivation. We'll see if it works.
  9. Was that in the DPA? I didn't see it. Sounds unlike Coach Morgan. Maybe you could post the story on here where it said that so we can see it. Until then.
  10. Why is it that some teams don't want to count their H.O.F. games on their record? I notice Seymour's high ranking in the AP poll(with only one loss), but they have not counted their loss to McMinn Central in a H.O.F game. Even with that extra loss on their record, Seymour is a fantastic team and would still be ranked(maybe not as high). My feeling is this...... if they charge admission and sell popcorn, it's a game and should be counted on their record. You don't get mulligans in this sport and just not count a game on your record if you lose. I know TSSAA says that you don't have to, but show some guts and count it on your record. Bet most teams do if they win. Just a peeve of mine.
  11. Are you referring to Yanessa Simpson? If so, I thought she was a senior?
  12. This has to be an extremely difficult thing to do. Even for a coach of Andy's stature. Tophat, how successful(win-loss) was Ooltewah when the teams had the same coach? I just don't think both teams can reach their full potential having the same coach. The coach will be pushed to the limit in not only practice, but scouting and all the other "behind the scenes" things that go on in a high school program. Good luck to any person that would want to do both.
  13. I thought the rule was that no one in the school could coach a player in that school, until school was released for the summer(as far as AAU is concerned). So.........is it a violation to be coaching her right now? I'm sure Coach Carson knows the rule(s), I'd say he isn't coaching her right now. PLEASE correct me if my interpretation of the rule is wrong.
  14. Can this be true? A school the size of Sweetwater(AA) having one coach do both boys' and girls' basketball. Maybe this is just rumor.
  15. Some smaller schools have basketball coaches that also coach football, so I don't think girls basketball season could be moved to the fall. But doesn't Kentucky divide the games. Girls on Monday/Thursday, boys Tueday/Friday? If it works for them, why would it not work for us. They have just as many rural communities as we do with a couple of big cities thrown in the mix. The biggest problem I see is finding people to work the games(concession, gate, clean-up, etc.) four times a week, possibly. Also, parents that have both a daughter and a son that play would be ran ragged. [Edited by PhillipNeyland on 5-1-03 1:44P]
  16. I didn't see all the games, of course, but in the ones i did see i was impressed with point guard play. KAYA's point guard played well in the game i saw. He really controlled the game. I also liked the Elite's point man, #14. He had a consistent outside shot along with great handles. And the third point guard that I thought played well was #11 from the Blaze. Tall, lanky. Penetrated and finished in traffic.
  17. Last I heard he was teaching PE at one of the local elementaries and helping with soccer at Scott. Don't know for sure, just what I heard.
  18. Sorry.....I did mean Jacob. You obviously have some affiliation with the program, either personal or professional. Do you have an idea of when a decision might be made and how serious Seale is about the job?
  19. In both instances, she is no longer the coach. correct?
  20. I agree. They have a very good shooter, a big man, and some others that fill roles. I think they just ran into that "sophomore slump" last year after having a really good season the year before with Sexton. I expect them(no matter who the coach is), Wartburg and Harriman to be the front runners next year.
  21. The thing about most AAU teams is that they don't get to spend a whole lot of time together and develop chemistry. The Grizzlies have played together in high school ball and have developed some chemistry already. That might be why they appear to be playing better ball right now during the AAU season. Just a thought.
  22. Does anyone else think it a little peculiar/inappropriate that a referee uses the username "dabookie"? Maybe I shouldn't feel that way, and maybe he's a great guy and official........
  23. I have spoken with Gary and know for fact that this was definitely a part of the reason for his move, maybe a very small part. But none the less. What about Wendell???? Why isn't his name coming up in this thread as a possible replacement??
  24. Coach Barnes left for a couple of reasons. One was the money was better in Georgia. The other was an ongoing struggle with players' parents. Is Matt King a possibility for this job. Young and energetic, might be a good fit. What about Kevin Wendell? He has been in a good program with Eldridge at AC. He has to be a top name on a short list.
  25. What level do some of you see her playing at in college? She has good size and strength, nice shot, but I think she is slow. Like I said earlier, I saw Cleveland play only 3 times this year, but the thing that really sticks out to me is when McMinn attempted a shot with about 5 seconds remaining in the game at Cleveland. Tiff celebrated a little prematurely and began running down court with her arms up when the shot bounced off the rim. Yanessa Simpson (the person tiff should have been boxing out)gathered in the rebound and put it back for the win as time expired. Very odd happenings. That probably did not help her relationship with her coach.
