  3. The Midway at Cloudland football game has been moved to Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. due to the current field conditions. I just received this a few minutes ago.
  4. I'm just a reader and have been for many years but I might be able to help you out. M. Potter 32 points, 11 rebounds Z. Potter 16 points 10 rebounds Hyden 12 assists, 10 steals, 6 rebounds Bullwinkel 8 points, seven boards 3 blocks. I had a good view of the game from where I sat and shook you hand as I left.
  5. Don't associate me with Lord Vador or anyone else on thie board. I haven't posted on this board in a long time so don't coming on here calling me out and trying to start something. Why not try encouraging all these kids instead of posting all this garbage for them to read. As for the kid in question, he's fine young man that I admire and hope he comes back and plays. He can help the team and that's the most important thing. Some of you don't have anything to do but try and stir up trouble. Their is more in life than just athletics. `
  6. Coach Shelton Could you please call me at the Elizabethton Star if you get this before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. I am working on the Cloudland and Cosby game preview. 647-8602 or 297-9061 Thanks Tim C
  7. I disagree. 15 and 16 year old athletes should not have to choose between high school sports during their summer vacation. I wish TSSAA would advise a system where the dead period would run from June 1 until July 15 or 45 days. The way everything is setup, kids are forced to pick and choose as to what sport they want to participate in and family time has become a thing of the past. Having that lenght of time would allow kids to work on their own, play summer baseball, take family vacations and enjoy just being a kid. I've always had a passion for sports and played at the college level but never was I forced to pick between the three during summer vacation. I help coach a summer traveling baseball team and some kids are unable to play right now because their high school coaches are forcing them to participate in basketball and football camps. Many high school baseball coaches are playing summer schedules adding more fuel to the fire. The only way to fix this is if TSSAA steps up and says "Dead period 45 days, June 1 thru July 15." Unless something is done sports will continue to overlap one another and kids will be forced to pick and choose.
  8. Goose, Give me a call if you would at the Elizabethton Star. I need some info to do a game preview for the paper. My cell is 647-8602 Tim

  10. Actually you did receive a first place vote from me. I'm not sure why it didn't show but you did receive one. I'm a homer. I voted Hampton 1, Unaka 3 and Cloudland 5 for what it's worth. I'm "LOYAL" to all the county schools. I felt like they had earned it. It might not have reflected in the polls but you did receive a first place vote. Heck, the Press paper didn't vote or you might have been higher. As for me being wrong again, think about the pick! It would be sorry on my part as a parent to look my kids in the eye and say, I don't believe you have a chance. We will soon but not this year. So with that said, call me wrong once again. As for Hampton, they'll get the Star's vote as the # 1 team when the polls come out on Tuesday. I'm a Bulldog 9 out of 10 weeks during the regular season. I hope you run the table and wind up playing in Murfreesboro. My posting days have been long over but I just wanted to let the Hampton fans "that I know and respect" how I voted. They've got some classy young men as does Unaka. I wish both teams much success in the last half of the season. TC
  11. Just came across the AP wire Hampton #3 Unaka # 11
  12. Thank you! I was trying to remember all the Bulldog seniors for something I'm doing.
  13. Sorry to interupt this entertaining thread but, Bulldog fans, need your help. What grade is Timmy Campbell in? Thanks
  14. Don't worry about the Valley. They have a couple of excellent applicants who should be able to elevate that problem to another level.
  15. Arizona, Recommended by Ray Smith, Coach of the Elizabethton Twins.
  16. Who piled it on? Know the facts before you call someone out on here who's done nothing but support this group. To each player and coach, Kudos on an excellent season. I speak for myself when saying you're guys exceeded my expectations. Best of luck to the senior players, Andrew, Carp and Brandon. You all had banner seasons.
  17. How about you Cy? Can you be better? Or Tim, can you be a better Sportswriter. The spellchecker says yes. The point is we all have faults and weaknesses. Ranger87, I would appreciate it if you left me out of this. I don't have anything to say regarding the Unaka baseball matter on here nor anywhere else. And if I do have a problem, I'll go to the source and discuss it, and not air it out on Coach T. As for my sportswriting, I don't claim to be very good at it nor will I ever be. My goal as a writer is to try and be fair to every Carter County athlete. I hope the things they read about themselves in my articles will make them feel good now and in years to come. In my eyes, all that perform are special. Some of us work hard for Unaka athletics, only behind the scenes. Most of the times, I've never been asked to do anything because many consider me an outsider but everytime I've been asked, I been there to do my part. How many times have games been covered on my days off? You yourself said you didn't take the paper so why should you worry about what I write? I don't know who these posters are that started this thread nor do I care. The comment I'm making is because my name was singled out in your post. But don't call me out for something that I have no control over nor do I wish to comment on. As for the baseball part at the state tournament, I hope our kids and coaches went down there and give it their all both on and off the field. Only they can answer that question. It's not something you'll find the answer to on Coach T.
  18. Then give me a call. I want to see if you might be interested in something?
  19. Here is an invitation to any Temple player or family that would love to leave the Chattanooga area. Stoney Creek and Unaka would love to have you, especially that sophomore guard. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  20. I was told today it would probably be Chris Ricker. If so, excellent choice.
  21. Did any of you ever think of a sportswriting career? I don't think anyone could out scoop old molesniper and many others on here.
  22. Bruce Pearl to Hampton Billy Donovan to Elizabethton /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  23. Congragulations Kevin and the boys. I knew something good was going to happen for those freshman that stepped on the floor in 2004 against Unaka. Rusty and I were glad to see you take home the gold ball. TC

    Unaka ?

GLee, I don't think these people look at the game the way you and I do. If we had our way about it, you and I would be rooting for the whole dang bunch, we've coached most of them. As for D, you had a big hand in that. Playing with kids like Preston and Scott is two good role models to learn from. Some coaches just have a way of making the game fun and you're one of those. Payne and Ensor fall into that catagory. Plus all of you knew the game. I'm looking forward to covering some of Eliz. games and seeing you and all those boys. I hope this is the year for the Cyclones. They deserve it. Hopefully we can make it back.

    Unaka ?

By the way, Drew is a (14 year old freshman). Could he pitch and beat Elizabethton or will he get to play against them on Saturday? Probably not. But he's out there working hard trying to get better and become a good baseball player. So are the other players on Unaka's baseball team. The fact that you have more than twice the number of students than us makes it tough for us to match up with Elizabethton in numbers. Therefore, sometimes we have to rely on a few few freshman or sophomores to step in and play every now and then. And believe it or not, we do have a few that can play. And while Coach Payne is an excellent coach, Coach Ensor had done a great job as well. We might lose big to Elizabethton but our kids will go our there and give it their all. I admire Coach Ensor for playing the schedule he does. I also give props to Coach Payne for being one of the best in the business. Elizabethton has come great athletes, some who have played for me at one time. My son's first Little League coach was Preston Smith's dad. Two of his teammates were Preston Smith and Scott Burleson. Take this piece of advice from an old man, lad. Enjoy the game. Pull for all the kids. If Unaka goes to the state tournament, applaude them. If Elizabethton makes it, then Go Cyclones. It's baseball. I remember a time a few years back in 03-04 when those Babe Ruth Rangers were able to luck out a few wins over Elizabethton. Now it might not happen often, but it did happen. If you'll let me know who you are, I promise to make sure you get the press coveraged deserved. As Jimmy Osmond once sang, "One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch," not even you Etowntrack21. Best of Luck to the Cyclones. hope you make it to the state tournament.
