Got to agree with Soccer Gypsey, dont know how MJ does it, but putting the effort in to come out with these rankings every week during the season has to be applauded. If it is not broken dont fix it, the game has been played for a long time with wins, losses and ties. The MLS tired to implement shootouts during the early 90s and that never lasted. If two teams have played an equal match then it should be a tie, pk shootouts a lot of the time give a false result with a lot of international teams sitting deep and playing for the pk shootout at the end of the game.

A flat back four will not stay flat, it will constantly be moving with players dropping to cover and pushing up to the ball to pressure. The majority of the time when the opposition is attacking, for example down the flanks a 'good' back four will be in a check mark or NIKE swoosh shape.

A flat back is not a offside trap, it can be played that way, however with only two refs at most high school games it would not be recommended. The flat back four is very good defensivly as you have players covering the width of the field, having four players who all pressure, cover and provide balance is ideal. With a sweeper / stopper system the sweeper is left to do all the covering and a smart team are going to move the sweeper to the other side of the field. if played correctly the 4-4-2 can also be very offensive, with the outside backs pushing up 'ball side' to contribute to the attack.
