  1. Thanks for the info. I knew I could count on you. And yes, it should be fun. I heard Avery done very well at ASU.
  2. Can you tell me what time the first scrimmage will start and who else is attending besides us, Unaka and Avery? This will be interesting. Thanks!
  3. How many of you are actually on a cheerleading squad? We have our own board now so we need to recruit more members. This board could be very useful to us for sharing ideas and information so we should make the most of it.
  4. Thank you. I feel a little better now. I hate asking parents for money because I know some of ours just don't have it. I try to keep it at the very bare minimum because I don't want kids to miss an opportunity because they can't really afford it. Mine are required to pay $35.00 for shoes and we do camp at school to save money so they really only end up paying around $100.00 all together. All uniforms are paid for through fundraisers and the athletic department so I guess we are in really good shape compared to you guys.
  5. Just wondering who everyone pulls for.
  6. I was just wondering how much out of pocket that everybody else was expected to pay for camp, uniforms, shoes, etc.
  7. That's probably a very good idea!
  8. I've never saw a ref blow a whistle on a defensive player for falling down and missing a tackle. Mark was injured early in the Boyd game and did not play 100%. In three years he has rushed for 53 TD's, passed for 28, returned seven interceptions for scores, ran back 4 punts and 4 kickoffs for TD's and converted 55 2 point conversions. I don't really know his defensive stats but I know they are just as impressive. He is extremely quick and agile, not to mention the fact that he has a 3.8 GPA and he is one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. Everyone has an opinion, Mark Byrd is mine.
  9. It's just a clinic not a camp. We attend camp elsewhere but this is something that was offered and is fairly close to us so we thought we'd give it a shot. It is only 12.00 each and lunch is included. They are supposed to teach a short dance a few new cheers and work on stunts. It is supposed to be broken down into small groups to give each squad more personalized attention. We've never seen Emory & Henry cheer before so we weren't very sure of what their style is. Preferably it is UCA and not NCA.
  10. There is a one day cheer clinic at Emory & Henry on June 21st. Does anyone else plan to attend? I think they have these periodically but this is our first one. If anyone else has attended in the past I'd like to know what you think of the material.
  11. Thank you CoachT! Let's hope we can keep this clean and that everyone will post with respect.
  12. Hopefully the Virginia teams will give us a reason to leave the starters in for 4 quarters. I wonder how their passing game looks at Appalachia and the other two VA schools? Maybe they will help us prepare for possible future match-ups with the likes of Greenback and Boyd. Sounds like South Pitt is going to be tough this year. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Pujo-What kind of scrimmages are lined up? I heard that the one with "Judas's" team fell through. I was so looking forward to that.
  13. Pujo- I just read the article. Still got goose bumps too. Why can't August hurry?! I am so glad that Bo is staying. He will do an excellent job. RebelRon, we are looking forward to playing Appalachia. I have been reading about them and see a lot of similarities between us and them. I guess if anyone wants to rob a town they could clean house when we meet up with Appalachia! I'll have to agree with Pujo about Greenback. They are a great bunch and as long as we aren't playing them, we will support them 100%!
  14. Thank you RebelRon, we can't ever get enough about football! As for the problem with the basketball team, I don't believe it was ever actually diagnosed as staph but is some sort of similar bacterial infection. They were given 2 weeks worth of antibiotics and it seems to be under control now. I don't know if it was or was not reported but it should have been.
  15. Just curious if the Spradling kid played baseball for Smith at Avery. I know there has been lots of trouble. There is also lots of specualtion floating around here about what his intentions are for next year. A Spradling/Byrd connection, just think of the possibilities.
  16. So how long do we have to wait before this story breaks?????????????
  17. Pujo! Don't leave us hanging like that!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Come on CoachT, we have golf, bowling, even hunting and fishing. What about something for the faithful supporters? Maybe you could let the board include the band, the fans and the cheerleaders.
  19. Could you please post the schedule dates for me? I know who we play but I don't have the order. I really need to know what our open date is. Thanks!
  20. I have tried to stay out of this but I can't keep my peace any longer. The cheerleaders were not there due to some very unfortunate circumstances. I am sorry that there was not more crowd support, that is a real shame. As for the comment about the cheerleaders letting you down again, I have to say thanks because it was our impression that nobody ever noticed or cared if we were there or not. I hope some day some of you will wake up and realize that this stupid tradition of cheerleaders and basketball players hating each other is exactly what I said, STUPID. You go to the same school, you all wear blue & gold, support each other. I don't care if you like each other or not but at least learn a little respect for each other. Congratulations Lady Landers on a fine season. Roan Mountain is proud of you. [Edited by 67CamaroGirl on 3-13-03 10:09A]
  21. Dane, we are all very proud of you and your accomplishments, on the football field and off. We'll get'em next year!
  22. Win or lose we are all still proud to be Landers. Thank you for a great season, you boys mean the world to us fans. We'll get'em next year! Go Landers!
  23. Hey everybody that isn't lucky enough to be on their way to Chattanooga! We are on our way to watch the Landers play some football. Pilot stations are great! They have public interenet service! How COacht is that! Good luck Landers! We're all behind you, literally since we left at 11!
  24. Good luck DB! Cloudland is pulling for you!
  25. Thank you LanderGolfer. We appreciate your support! Having everyone in the community there really helps out. They participate more than the student body.
