  1. Cloudland 24 Oneida 21 It's going to be a very cold night so I hope everyone is fired up enough to stay warm. Oneida always has very good fan support so the Lander fans better not come in all dead headed tonight. Noise makes a difference. Remember Cherokee?
  2. I just wanted to give a big shout out to my buddy K-rich and say best of luck to the Rangers tonight. Congratulations on a great season! I hope all Carter County teams can postpone basketball for a while longer.
  3. You're welcome. It's a red RS w/a black vinyl top. Hope you have a safe trip to the game!
  4. I believe he means that they might be the hardest hitters in region 2.
  5. Certified Cheerleader? Now that is just too funny. I guess you could say I earned my certificate alright. And yes, I can name them all by first and last name but then again so can pretty much everyone else in Roan Mtn from the age of 3 to 93. I guess we're just all a sweet bunch. Go Bill & Possum! I'll be rootin' for you, as always! Play hard! Oh wait, perhaps I should re-phrase that and say, Go Johnson & Pritchard! There now, does that sound a little less sweet?
  6. I'm by no means saying we aren't supposed win. We're Cloudland fans, we always expect a win. However, we've dealt with naysayers all season about how "down" we are this year. Heck, 73% is already picking Oneida to win, so all I am saying is that we could care less what the prediction is, it just gives us more to prove since everyone is assuming that we can't pull out a win without Dakota and Mark. Last year was great and so were all those guys that played but they're gone now but our pride isn't. We know Oneida is coming and believe me we're ready. They're not being overlooked in the slightest way. I'm not ready for basketball season yet and I know a whole lot more people in Roan Mountain that aren't either. Oneida has a safe trip up here. Better listen to Maynardette, she gives good advice.
  7. We'll be glad to take the title of the underdog. If we come out on top that will make the win that much sweeter. Best of luck Landers, I know you will play your hearts out!
  8. Abe, we are all very proud of all of you for sticking things out and working hard to have a very respectable season. I am sure that there are plenty of people that are shocked or surprised because there was so much hype about this being a re-building year and when you had a few losses, a lot of them sort of went diving off the band wagon. There is no shame in losing, only in not trying your best. I think those that doubted you are taking a second look at you now. The playoffs look promising. Just focus on one step at a time like you have been. Best of luck at JJ Kelly!
  9. Congratulations to the Landers! Even though things got off to a slow start, it only made you better. Coach Keith and staff have done a great job keeping things together. Everyone should remember that there may be times when the Landers are down but they should never be counted out. Keep up the good work!
  10. I hope we have a good, safe game with no injuries for either team. Bill & Possum, I'm proud of the way you have stepped up this year! Go Landers! P.S.-If anyone asks, you haven't seen me. I still owe KRich a hotdog.
  11. Why in the world would I want to use MapQuest and miss all the fun and adventure of using one of Keith's famous maps?
  12. Just wondering if anyone is traveling to Rye Cove and if Mr. Keith has made a map yet.
  13. I was at the game. They played tough but they made some mistakes and had a some turnovers that hurt bad. I don't think they laid down at all. They had some injuries throughout the game and they struggled toward the end. Possum had some awesome hits. Jonah was a workhorse and I thought BJ played the best game of his career. These losses are hard but if they stick together as a team, it will make them tough when it comes conference time. We just need to get through these first few games without any injuries. That will be a huge factor because there isn't a lot of depth. We haven't been off to an 0-2 start in a long time but don't count them out because I saw a lot of heart last night, regardless of the score. I am proud of them! Also, I just want to say that it was sad that the stands were empty. A little support would be nice. They deserve it.
  14. I must say that I was disappointed that we lost but I also know that we can't be on top all the time. This is a new year so let's just stop comparing this year to last year and move on. The kids and Coaches deserve that. The real fans will still be there and I guess everyone else can go find another game. Play hard and don't give up!
  15. Thank you, it's good to be back and it is also good that it is time for Cloudland football. 44-I haven't seen Pujo on in awhile. His brother coaches at Avery now and I expect that he is following their program now.
  16. I personally can't wait until Friday. I am ready to see some good hard fought football games this year. Blow-outs are boring. We've lost a lot of good players in the past and still done well and I even remember when we lost Coach Orr and thought that would be the end of Cloudland football. It was not then and it won't be now. Coach Keith and Coach Oaks are very capable because they've been there through it all. So perhaps we could all work on boosting the morale a little. This is a different team because the seniors graduated but those that are left know what it takes to get it done. It will be a close game but I don't think Cloudland Football is ready to lay down and die. Best of luck to Poss, Bill and Sam!
  17. Let me be one of the first to say congratulations to the Rangers. Thanks for representing Carter County and bringing a gold ball back to a small public school. Lots of people are proud of you, even in Roan Mtn. Good job!
  18. How tough the drive is depends on where you are coming from. The school is right off hwy 19E so it is not hard to find.
  19. The games start earlier than usual. Girls at 3:30 and boys at 5:00 p.m. Cloudland has lots of potential but not a lot of consistency this year. I hope that they are back on track now after redeeming themselves against TCC the other night.
  20. Thanks guys! I hope that we do well because we have a lot of Angels that have not been adopted yet so we are going to need every spare dime we can get. It really makes you feel fortunate for the things that you have when you realize that so many in your own community are in need. Good luck at Science Hill Rangerbook and tell all my buddies on the Creek hello.
  21. The Cloudland Varsity Cheerleaders will be sponsoring a soup bean dinner on Friday, December 5th before the game against Cosby to raise money for Project Christmas Spirit. The dinner starts at 4:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and costs $5.00 per person. Price includes dessert and iced tea. All proceeds will be used to buy Christmas presents for needy children in the Roan Mountain Community. We also have an Angel Tree up at the bank if anyone would like to adopt an angel. Thanks to everyone who has already donated money and offered to help with the dinner!
  22. Gosh guys, I hate that I missed all the suspense but I have been way behind at work since our little break. Nikki is with Dane and I could have called her. Oh well, I am just excited to death that they both won. Congratulations to Dane and Mark and all of their families! We are all very proud of you!
  23. My heart goes out to all of you. I know how it feels to lose a friend at young age and there are no words that can comfort you right now. Just know that you will always have great memories of your friend and when times get hard you can think of her smiling and that will make you feel better. I'll pray for all of you.
  24. Way to keep it alive in the East. Keep on rolling! The Highlanders are pulling for you!
