  1. No one said greefield didnt play a tough schedule. But look at the out of district schedules and no one should say that Dresden is trying to just play teams that are automatic wins. That is exactly what rascalflatt was saying. That was the point of the last post.
  2. Lets talk about schedules. You have to play district and you choose your out of district games so if you are looking at who plays a tough schedule look at out of district games. Dresden's non district Madison, Westview, South Gibson, .Bradford (of the toughest district of the world), Lenoir City(3a), Kingston(2a), Greenfield Greenfield's non district Liberty(very good 2a), Clarksburg, McKenzie, Huntingdon, Gleason, Dresden, Perry Co., and Camden(who lost to McKenzie and Huntingdon). So when you look at out of district Greenfield chose to play several teams from the weak district 13a and Dresden played 3 2a or 3a teams and tough single a teams. Im pretty sure that Dresden wants to make the game up and will if there is any way possible. Never seen Dresden' girls not play the best. Last year they played Gibson Co. and Westview out of district. So much for just looking for wins.
  3. Does anyone know the schedule for the Huntingdon jamboree this Saturday night Nov. 13? I was wanting to go watch a little roundball and knew they were having a jamboree. thanks
  4. Street was at the State CrossCounty meet where she finished 2nd. She will be there from now on.
  5. Actually, the game was a 2 pt game with 3 minutes or so to go which was not what I was expecting. Dresden didn't score on a couple of possessions when they had a chance to tie it and and Creekwood made a few FT's to extend to four with just a few seconds left. Creekwood looked like they played 10 players while I was watching them and Dresden only played 7 it appeared. Saw the last 10 minutes or so.
  6. It is really great that you had all these scores. Thanks. I think on a couple though that even though the winner is correct that maybe the score or amount is incorrect. Creekwood-Dresden game Creekwood won but only by 4. They have a very good team. Saw the end of that game. I'm also pretty sure that Peabody beat West Carroll by double digits. Watch the 2nd and 3rd qtr of this one. Saw most of the other games that you have scores for. You do a great job. Keep it up.
  7. practice rules need to be that you can practice anytime while in school but cannot practice a player/players that are in-season in another sport. Have a dead period 3 weeks after your season is over for players to recover. Then place more limits or do away with completely the organized summer practice. Have open gym all summer if players want to come. This would give players more time away to go on family vacations or be kids but also not cut actual practice time out. Who can travel while school is going on whether teams can practice or not?
  8. Maybe put down was the wrong wording to use. I've read the post about winning the District 3 times now to make sure I wasn't see things wrong. Nowhere did they say that Dresden would win the Region, said it was a toss-up. My question is I guess why bring everything up about the other District when nothing about this post said anything about any of those teams. I was trying to look to see if I could answer your question about if Dresden beat Lake Co., Bradford, or Greenfield. They didn't play Lake Co or Bradford (snow cancelled both games), and Greenfield beat them 2 times I believe, once in a close game and once in a blowout. Dresden has to improve alot to win the region or compete to but they have everyone but 1 player back from last years team that had Humboldt on the ropes in the Region and Gleason in the District Championship game.
  9. I don't think the previous post said anything negative toward any of those teams. Actually they said that they knew there were some really good teams in 14A. Why come on this thread and put down the team it is about and start building up Lake Co. I know as does everyone else that they have a great team. Also I think most people thought that Gleason would finish no higher than 3rd or 4th in that district last year and we all know what happened. They won the region. Good luck to all teams! should be a fun season to watch.
  10. Why were the parents after Coach Lee? Were they parents of younger players or the seniors this year? I thought LC lost most of their team this year, do they have a lot of talent coming back?
  11. 1st off let me say I was at the game and not from either town so I'm unbiased in my views. Congratulations to both teams on great years and a hard fought game. Now on to the game and officiating. The officiating was not great for either team. They missed calls that hurt both teams and helped both teams as happens in most every game. The foul count in the second half is somewhat misleading. it was 9 fouls on Gleason and 4 on Middleton. I know this because I was thinking that Middleton would foul at the end so Gleason couldn't get a shot up and they would be able to do that 2 times before being in the bonus. The reason Gleason had 9 fouls is because with about 3-4 minutes to go in the game, Coach Ayers told his girls to be aggressive and foul becuase at that time the fouls were Gleason 2 fouls Middleton 1. He wanted to get close to the bonus I'm assuming so that if Middleton tried to hold the ball that Gleason could foul and make them shot FT's which they weren't making very well. This got the foul count up and Middleton was not fouling intentionally so their foul count stayed low the entire game. I felt like Gleason was much more skilled than Middleton but Middleton played great defense and made just enough shots. Gleason didn't play near as good as they had been and that is the reason they lost. Missed 2 or 3 point blank shots that they normally make, shot the ball too early at the end of the 1st half which led to 3 pts. for Middleton. Any of these things go the other way and Gleason is at state this week. Congratulations to both teams on Great Seasons!
  12. Are you actually admitting that you want Dresden to play dirty? I believe Dresden is the better team, but I sure hope that you are the exception to what Dresden stands for and not the rule. Play Dirty?? Who--- Dresden??? and then whine about the ref's personal foul penalties/unsportsmanlike conduct penalties?? Dresden is always the victim---- they ducked out of their old district to get away from UC, Humboldt, Westview----- one of the posters said earlier about fearing the competition because of their new found/ Chuck West vote district, competition for who...they are Single A with a Double AA population and won't break 500 in basketball either. Keep drinking the kool-aid junior--- I hope your team actually makes the playoff---that'll be an easy draw for somebody Hater I was wrong about your point of view I now realize that you are mad because your team didn't get in the district you wanted them to. No one from Dresden drew up the districts. Why can't you realize this. Ronnie Carter drew up the districts like he has in every classification that was done while he was the director. The board votes on it. Chuck West is on the board, with 8 other people throughout the state. I don't know if he voted for it or not but it passed something like 6-3 so lets say he voted for it like you think. it wouldn't have mattered if he had voted no so what is your problem with him. 10-15 years ago, the districts were exactly like they are now. Gleason and Dresden in with the Carroll County teams, and Greenfield, South Fulton, Bradford, Halls, Lake Co, and Trenton were in a district, the difference in both districts, Huntingdon is now 1a, and UC and Humboldt are now 1a. No one had a problem with it then. As far as Dresden not being 500 in basketball, I believe you are dead wrong. They will be against 1a teams, have you seen their schedule for non-district games? Gibson, Madison, Westview, G-field, and Bradford. Doesn't look like they are running from anyone. This is the wrong thread for this topic but had to throw it all out there for you.
  13. Get away from Lake Co? It's not novenmber yet, this is still football season for Lake Co. Maybe next week whenever ya'll start basketball practice will be a time to start posting about being worried about someone not wanting to play Lake Co. As to the alignment i'm sorry that dresden's geographical aliment doesn't suit what you think it should be. Trust me i'd much rather play Lake Co (which i'm assuming your from) or South Fulton opposed to Mckensie and the always weak Mustangs. Good observation however. You should prolly wait and start posting from now on until Lake Co's only sport starts in november and hopefully your comments will be some what relevant or intelligent. Besides, dresden's principle has enough trouble running a school, odds are high that he didn't put much thought into the new alignment What is so funny is the ignorance on this board of what actually took place in the classification. 1st 360, it wasn't so much about the travel of teams in rural west TN that caused the change it was the travel of east TN teams. There were teams driving 150 miles one way to play a game because of the the classification system. As for Hater if you look at the total geographical issue across the state and total teams in the districts it is the way it fell out and Ronnie Carter, former director of TSSAA, actually drew up the districts. It sounds like the rest of the district doesn't like the added compition in all sports, not just football. I believe in basketball District 13a has won like 3 games total in the region in four years. That is for the basketball board though.
  14. GCPioneer, What I find interesting in all this is before the game you were talking all kinds of trash say how Dresden was not going to beat GC and that GC beat them by 40 points or so last year, ect. Now that Dresden has taken GC behind the woodshed all you want to talk about is how classless and dirty the team, school and town are. Dresden has the exact same players, minus 3 or 4, the exact same coaching staff add 2 new coaches as they did last year when GC won the game big, but I don't recall seeing anything then or anytime before the game Friday night about Dresden being classless and dirty. It sounds to me like you were expecting to win and not only did your team lost but they got killed. As far as tailgating after the game and where it took place, many teams in the area do that. The parents and boosters feed the team and they do so by the locker room. If I recall from last time I was at GC's field the visitors' locker room is right by GC's. That wasn't trying to rub anything in it was just where the locker room was at. As far as the trash, it should have been picked up, you might want to call the administration at Dresden and let them know, I'm sure they would take care of that for the future since it is not much you can do about last Friday at this time. Good luck the rest of the way. I hope the player that was injured is better and he is in my prayers.
  15. The hit on the punt was not late. The ball was still rolling which means that the play is still live. It is playing till the whistle blows. Which is what every coach I have ever talked to wants. Dresden did shut greenfield down totally in the second half. Turnovers are caused by the defense as well as mistakes by the offense. Dresden had a couple of turnovers that stop drives that looked like they were going to score. Both teams had their moments where they looked good. Gfield has some speed which is a huge bonus. Good luck to both teams.
  16. has anyone seen any of the other teams? I said in my original post that Gleason should be the team to be but what about the other teams? I have heard Gleason looked pretty good this summer. What about West Carroll, Dresden, McKenzie or Huntingdon?
  17. What about the other teams? I know McKenzie has several people back and they almost beat Gleason in the tournament last year? how has Dresden, West Carroll, and Huntingdon looked this summer anyone know? I not sure that you can say that Gleason won't be pushed at all. They lost a great coach and he made the difference in their team.
  18. Has anyone seen any of these teams play? I have heard Gleason looks real strong this summer which is what i expected since they have their entire team back. What about the other teams? McKenzie, West Carroll, Dresden, Huntingdon, Bruceton, Clarksburg, Big Sandy, and Carroll Academy? I haven't seen any of them and was wondering how they looked and what everyone thought about how they would finish.
  19. Football team was really good I believe in 92 or 93, something like 10-2 right? boys basketball wasn't very good during that time if I remember correctly, I believe it was 94-95 that Jay Bowers, Jonathan West, and Ashley Cleek led them to substate. Before that year, i f my memory is correct the teams weren't any better than they are now.
  20. yes it is fact that the baseball team was in sub-state and lost to USJ in 04 and 05. I believe some of the players were Adam Clements, Matt Thomas, Wil Levister. The boys bball team was like 18 and 10 2 years ago. THAT IS FACT!!! When exactly did you play at Dresden? Because outside of the late 80's with Popeye and Peanut, the early and mid 90's Dresden has never consistently won in anything, always a littel above average but never over the top. I was just wondering which teams you played on. I might remember you since I have been supporting the prgrams since I was in high school and might remember how good you were.
  21. Do any football players at Catholic play basketball?
  22. I agree just look where MJ Brown went, UTM. Nothing wrong with it at all but defenitly not major D1 and from what I have seem Greer is not as good as brown. Very, very good player though.
  23. Riverside seemed to be pretty athletic. Doesn't TCA have a stud athlete that is a major D1 football prospect? Does he play basketball?
  24. Crayton is a player as are several players on Humboldt's team. Should make a run at a state championship.
  25. Top Dollar, I'm unsure why you are on a message board hiding behind the name top dollar since you want everyone fired so bad. Why not go to the administration at Dresden and Board of Education if you are so sincere about Dresden Athletics getting better. Sounds like you want to make it harder on everyone from coaches to players. Also you might want to check you facts. You said no team has been any good since the 90's. FACTS: Football team has been down the last couple of years but they were in the playoffs 2 straight seasons in the toughest region in 2a in 03/04 or 04/05 not sure which. Boys basketball team won around 18 or 20 games 2 seasons ago. Baseball was in sub-state 2 or 3 straight years about 3 years ago and the girls basketball team has had maybe 1 losing season since 98. You have every right to your opinion. But don't hide behind a message board name and post lies. Post your opinion but if you are going to post facts make sure they are right. It not only hurts the people you are intending to hurt but also makes the community and athletes look bad as well. Since I am a graduate of DHS that bothers me. Also if you care so much why don't you come back and watch a few games, I try to go to the home games and some on the raod, show some support and do what you can to help the situation(like you say the city should) instead of just complaining.
