  5. I'm sure there are a lot of Howard games where a team scores a 100 points, but it's usually not the opponent. Farragut completely outplayed Howard tonight. They played like the team that beat Maryville. Greg Gibson played strong against Harper and Sir Lee, and he created shots for his teammates with ease. After the Admirals realized that Howard was not interested in playing defense, they proceeded to shoot layup after layup. Jacob Brown and Andrew Fraser scored at will against Howard's nonexistent post game. Sir Lee can not be more than 5'5, but wow is he quick. He pulls from anywhere. The rims were not kind to the Tigers, but he hit his share. Ricky Harper had a tough game. His passes are just too nice for his teammates. A lot of Harper's and Sir Lee's points came with the Admirals starters long gone. Even down thirty and with the end of the bench in for Farragut, Howard barely subbed.... It was a poor showing for the Tigers in Knoxville. They barely beat a decent Jeff County team after trailing for the whole game. Bearden beat them by 15 and it could have been 30. Farragut beats them by 25 and scores a 105 on them(all AAA's). There's no doubt that Mason and Harper are very talented, but I would like to pick two players from Bearden, Fulton, AE, Maryville, etc, and give them the green light to try and score every time they touch the ball and see what happens. Lee Humphrey would easily score 40 to 50 a game if he played for Howard........
  6. Don't let the score fool you. Although Cleveland eventually pulled away from the Bulldogs, the game was very tight. The game was close for three and a half quarters until Cleveland point guard Tim Cooper got hot. After being cold in the first half, Cooper was 5 of 6 from behind the arc in the third quarter. He had 15 of Cleveland's 18 points in the quarter. Bearden's stud Kyle Cruz couldn't buy a jumpshot but still played outstanding.Michael Blue and Jeremy Holliday played well against man-child Charles Little but all you can do is to try and slow him down. He's unbelievable for a sophomore. It's scary to think how good he could be. Freshman Grant Domisic also played well for Bearden. Trey Sharp for Cleveland is an amazing athlete. He got in foul trouble early or it might have been a blowout sooner. He dominated the whole tournament on the boards and attacking the glass. Many monster dunks in this game from Little and Blue. Bearden definitely earned Cleveland's respect and surprised a lot of people. Aaron Green is doing an awesome job at Cleveland, and Mark Blevins's gameplan was brilliant. Great game....
  7. Fulton and Cleveland ought to be a war. Cleveland's football players have been playing together longer than Fulton's. Either way, Fulton's defense is topnotch and should disrupt Cleveland's O. Bearden and Howard in the second route looks nice. This has to be one of the better fields in a while at the Super 16....
  8. The only reason Science Hill is ahead of Maryville is the schedule they have played. While Maryville was playing at the Seymour Turkey tourney and against Knox area teams, the Hill was playing against Oak Ridge, Greeneville, William Blount etc at Jeff County. They also played 15-2 Rhea County and DB. Rhea's only other loss is to Cleveland. The Arby's as well as the Super 16 tourney at Bearden(Bearden, Cleveland, Howard, Fulton, OS)will go along way in telling who are the best teams so far this season and what to be looking for down the stretch.........
  9. ArtVandalay, Gomab2 is aware of the teams in East Tennessee and gives then there due. Dobyns Bennett got beat by a decent AAA Cumberland County team and by Science Hill. That equals two losses. To say that they are the best in the Upper East is ludicrous. A loss to the Hill is accaptable, but losing to Cumberland has to knock DB down quite a few notches. They no doubt have tremendous talent(Blye, Jervis, and Williams) but they still lost. A win against Maryville will go along way to right the ship. Look at all the teams from the East with 1 or 2 losses who have played just as tough a schedule as the the Tribe(Cleveland, Bradley C, Maryville, Hill, Chatt Central, Rhea, Bearden, etc....) AAA is loaded in the East and that will show in the Boro, but just remember, nobody is beating White Station this year...

  22. Matchup problems occur both ways. Not only do smaller teams struggle matching up with big teams, but a lot of times, big teams can't guard teams that rely on speed and ball movement. Most single A teams aren't blessed with a lot of size, so to assume that a bigger team is going to dominate a small team just because of their size doesn't always hold up. Unaka has outstanding players, but it's the coach's job to put the lineup on the floor that he thinks gives them the best chance to win and to build a strong program for the future. Also, to play a bunch of seniors over younger guys because their older is not a smart strategy. He's got to think of the program down the road and not just this year. That might cost them some wins now, but what's important is developing all the players that you can early so you will have depth and continuity in your program from year to year and at tourney time. No one wants to have to start from scratch every year. Unaka is a dominate force in single A, and I'm sure they will continue to be. ps - Give the ball to the Rock......
  23. Tough loss for Brainerd to Notre Dame. Rhea County beat ND by 2 in a tourney early in the year. Big win for Science Hill over Dobyns Bennett. Did Jervis play? Clinton's woes continue with a loss to AA Loudon. Big win for McMinn County over Oak Ridge on a last second shot....
