Congrats from Texas to Jana!! Way to go and I look forward to seeing you play soon! Any ideas on where she is headed for her four years after Loretto?

When will basketball articles be featured on the front page? I was thinking they could be there now under the football articles.

Chris Jones from Perry County. I think he played for Columbia State for a while but man was he athletic. He was overshadowed by Kirk Haston but he was a great player. Automatic from the elbows!!

How did this turn out? Was it a good showing from the teams and the fans?

1. They lost to Dallas Carter in the semi's not the finals. 2. The teams they played in the playoff's were not the teams they played. Dallas Jesuit which they played in the first round of the movie did not even play in UIL until this year. 3. Billingsley's dad was not that outrageous. 4. On the coin flip it should have been Permian, Midland High, and Midland Lee. Not Abilene Cooper. 5. Gaines had better control than it showed of his practice. 6. Boobie Miles hurt his knee in a pre-season game not the first game of the season. 7. Miles also quit the team and never came back like to see the playoffs like he did in the movie. He listened to all the games on the radio. Those are just to name a few.

Actually went to see this with the coach that I am working for down here in Texas and Coach Gaines himself. It was grossly inaccurate but it was the 5th time that Coach Gaines had seen it. The coach that I work for here in Texas used to work under Gaines and they are good friends. Gaines really likes it but wished it had been more accurate.

I was at the Astros game tonite. They are on a roll and have some good pitching coming up in Atlanta with Clemens starting game 1 and Oswalt starting game 2. They are hungry for some revenge on Atlanta since the Braves have put out the Astros in the last three series in the postseason. Lots of excitement here in Houston. I am torn between the two. Always been a die hard Braves so I guess I will pull for them although seeing playoff games in my backyard will be exciting!!

This is (or at least use to be) a huge matchup of two good teams. With the way the region is shaping up this year it could go a long way in determining the post season success of these two teams. Is this still a big rivarly? I still remember the " BEAT LORETTO!" shirts that we had in 95-96!!

I must agree with the fact that the coaches there seem to be getting this program heading in the right direction! I applaude the progress that this school has made in their football program. If it ever gets to the level the basektball program is you had better watch out!!! Good luck the rest of the year!!

I would guess that she is going to play basketball somewhere. No sense in not using her talents to get herself a "free" degree from some university. What we have to take into account is that there is more to playing college athletics than just playing the sport. Maybe she did not like other things about UTC. Things such as the area, people, attitudes, or *gasp* lack of religion on campus. There are many things that will turn a person (not only an athlete) from certain colleges. I say that we support her in the decision that she has made and I for one wish her luck at wherever she ends up playing. (hopefully in an FHU uniform as was previously guessed in earlier topics)

For the smaller schools: Lewis County has a great field and a great environment.

How about Bobby Sharp at Lewis County. What is his career record now? They have been very successful for a number of years.

Now I am not sure and I am not one for fighting on coacht, but I do think that they have tried to schedule some tougher teams but it is hard to get them to play Lewis Co. I have no idea if DL has tried to schedule them or not but you have to look at logistics and just "natural" rivals whenever they choose their schedule. With that said, I would love to see them play the David Lipscomb's and Goodpastures of the football world year in and year out. I think it would make for some great games and maybe even some great rivalries in the years to come. Remember once a Panther, always a Panther! Go get them this year!!! Keep the tradition going and Coach Sharp keep doing the GREAT job you have been doing!!!

What is David Sharp from Lewis County up to with some workouts? I know he is crazy strong. Just wondering if anyone has some up to date max numbers on him.

Well the season has been over for a while but thanks for the offer. We wen 23-13 and made it to the final four. Not a bad year for a first year coach who has never even played the game. We had lost 5 of 6 starters from the previous year and started 8-10. So we came together.
