  1. I thought Chester had lost one game... so it was Lexington who beat them. I tell you what... Lexington has a lot of talent down there in the 8th-10th grades. I would not at all be surprised to see them in the thick of things in region 6-3A over the next few years.
  2. Don't worry about that. I don't think you did. Success at the junior high and/or freshman level doesn't necessarily translate into success at the varsity level. Besides, if I know Coach Pratt, his future teams will be just fine. Also, I appreciate your wishes for Chester County's improvement. A lot of us are pulling for the Cavs
  3. Willis is good... but Bruceton is 1A.
  4. The future does look bright, to use the old cliche. The challenge now is going to be to keep those guys on the field. One of CCHS's problems in years past has been retaining players, but I think Coach Cupples is going to get a handle on that. Also, the offensive and defensive schemes are now consistent from junior high on up, so that'll work to the program's advantage. Two of those freshmen are getting some time as starters already, and they're both doing quite well, especially Bijon Jones. Yeah, I don't remember the female population at FHU looking like that when I was in school here. What was it you did down here last spring? 5. I completely agree with you there. I'll give a mention to Chester County's freshman team. Not sure of their record... but I think they're something like 7-0 or 6-1. I know they beat Crockett County 61-0, and they also beat South Side. Hopefully, this is the sign of things to come in Henderson.
  6. Yep. Covington handed them their only loss thus far, and that was only by a touchdown. It's great to see a program like this come up out of nowhere and be so good.
  7. A: Ezell over Cloudland in the rematch that could very well shut down the message boards at CoachT. Dark horse from the west: Bruceton. AA: Tyner Academy over Huntingdon. Dark horse from the west: Union City AAA: Trousdale County over Crockett County. Dark horse from the west: Obion Central AAAA: Maryville over Fairley. Dark horse from the west: Haywood. AAAAA: Riverdale over Gallatin. Dark horse from the west: Jackson Central-Merry.
  8. Not to take anything away from Greenfield, but I would answer that with a resounding "no". Greenfield is a solid 1A team, but they haven't played anyone this year with the ability of Bruceton.
  9. McKenzie did lose a lot from last year - 21 of 22 starters, and aren't nearly as good as they were last year. That said, though, there's still a lot of talent on the field for them. What killed us (CCHS) was depth, mostly. We have 8 going both ways, and only exchange 1 per play on offense on most plays. We just ran out of steam in the second half. If we can build some quality depth for next year, we're going to surprise a lot of people.
  10. What's Greenfield's non-region schedule look like for next year? Any idea?
  11. Countdown to a mod deleting the countdown...
  12. How did you change your username like that? The messages BOBBY22 posted in this thread have all changed to reflect your new username.
  13. All streaks are eventually broken. And the UC home winning streak over Westview ends tonight.
  14. The gist of my post/response wasn't really to say they always travel 300+ miles... what I meant was that they typically have to make longer road trips than DI schools. Eh... guess I should have clarified that.
  15. 1) Where are you from originally? Was born in Memphis, moved around a few times until 1985, when we settled in Jackson. I've been there ever since, excepting college. 2) Where are you living now? Jackson. 3) What do you do for a living? By day, I'm an HR Director. By night, I handle PBP duties for Chester County football and Freed-Hardeman basketball. I hope to one day turn that into my "real" job. 4) Which school(s) do you support? The ones I broadcast for. I also pull for most Jackson area teams. And Crockett County. 5) Where did you go to school (high school, college, etc.) Jackson Christian School, Freed-Hardeman University. 6) If you have kids, where are they in school at and what, if any, sports do they participate in? 4 yo and 2 month old, both girls. Part of me hopes they don't play sports, because I'd be nervous wreck. 7) What other message boards/web sites do you frequently visit? WTSO.com, Prep Talk, TranSouth Athletic Conference... your basic major media sports sites... and other stuff. 8) What are your favorite college and pro teams/sports? Anyone who's playing UT. Cardinals, Steelers, Celtics. 9) How did you find out about coacht.com? Can't remember. 10)How many coacht.com posters are there whose identities you know of? Zilch.
  16. Yeah, I almost included that in one of my posts Of course, the DII teams have, I would assume, a much easier time of funding these long trips.
  17. Yep. I would assume it wouldn't be much of an issue for Goodpasture to make the trip, but I'd imagine a school the size of Cloudland might have more trouble funding theirs. I think the fact that GP wants to play you is a compliment to your program.
  18. Sounds like he's going to be alright, but anytime this happens, it's not something to be taken lightly. Our prayers go out to the Hardegree family. Hardegree, Jackson Central-Merry's head coach, suffered a "mild heart attack" Wednesday morning, said his wife, Adair Hardegree. It is uncertain if he will be released in time to attend tonight's 7:30 game between his unbeaten Cougars and Memphis Overton (4-3). "He's trying to figure out how he's going to get there," Adair said from the hospital room Thursday night. Coach Hardegree was sedated and not available for comment. "He's had his plays out and been working on them with coach (Larry) Shanks and the other assistant coaches. He's hoping the doctor will release him." Adair said her husband had felt chest pains in the past, but stress tests ruled out anything major. On Wednesday, coach Hardegree "felt a whole lot more uncomfortable than ever before," Adair said, and he drove himself to the emergency room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Tests on Thursday revealed a blocked artery, and two stents were inserted, Adair said. "He's going to be OK," she said. "We're just glad he found out it's not anything worse and that he took action when he needed to."
  19. Kind of a shame. You pick them up, and the talk of Cloudland's weak schedule would at least lessen... who knows, it might even cease and desist. 320 miles is quite a long distance to travel for a HS football game. I don't think most people will hold that against you. [Edited by TheBoredGuy on 10-18-02 9:11A]
  20. Tonight, I'll be at a basketball scrimmage. Tomorrow, I'll be following Chester County as usual, as they'll play McKenzie. But that's not important. The important thing is, where will you be, Mean Jean? And what's your prognostication on CCHS/McKenzie?
  21. Wait a minute... Mean Jean? Married? I thought you were still blasting that tuba in the Fairview HS Marching Band's Brass Section! Do they allow holy matrimony to occur that young in the Fairest of the Fair(view)?
  22. That's a good point. I had Lexington going over that big because I think they're due for a breakout game, and I think they've got a good chance to pull that off against Bolivar. Bolivar did a heckuva job against USJ, true, but they also had a big edge in athleticism. That edge won't be nearly as apparent against Lexington. But like I said, I'm no Mean Jean [Edited by TheBoredGuy on 10-16-02 11:43A]
  23. At what point in the game did Darby get hurt? I was surprised to see how many yards Camden rushed for... what happened with that?
