  1. Alright, no one cares... then explain to me why you're even reading this thread? Just curiosity, I assure you.

  3. Final Score: Robbins Hawks 24 Oneida Indians 0 Robbins contines undefeated, and have a 20 quarter shutout streak going into their last game with Midway. Oneida still 5-2, face Oliver Springs next week at home, and will host a first round playoff game, we think against Oakdale, who would be #3 in the West region.
  4. The team that turns the ball over least. Too even.
  5. Great players all, and I would like to add an honorable mention: Marcus McCulloch, GK, Oneida.
  6. I think LC will get this one, but Kingston is on an emotional high after pulling last night out... but 3 games in 42 hours is very tough, and Kingston isn't a particularly deep team... 3-1 LC, with 2 goals in the last 10 minutes (on a limb, yes)
  7. Well, I think the largest crowd I've seen at a soccer match this season got every penny of their money's worth. Kingston did dominate the early play, but Oneida did enough to keep them ouit of the net... Then Oneida started tilting the field the other way and had some chances. Josh Ayers off the crossbar was another great shot that just missed by inches, hitting the bottom of the bar. Another shot by Ayers or Swain (couldn't see which) in the second half was labelled for the upper 90, but Day made an awesome diving save on it, and the shot was from 25 yards. Both teams showed great skill, and I admit I stood and applauded with Oneida when they showed their class by applauding Kingston after the game. I'm proud to have covered a team as skillful, humble, and competitive as Oneida this year, and I hope I get to bring their brand of soccer to TV again next year. Oh, and yes, I do know who District Coach of the Year is, but I can't tell until after 4 PM.
  8. I think this game, as many are, will be decided in the midfield. Will Grigsby, Welch, and Swain be able to dictate what they want to do, or will Kingston's returned players make the difference? Will 8 players back mean no offense? (Again, a midfield question) Very much looking forward to it, only 4 hours to kickoff, and I'm on my radio shift See y'all there!
  9. Well, I hope I do too But really, Oneida has some quality in the midfield.... Grigsby is no Beckham (But then who IS in hs soccer?) and he can create with Swain and Devon Welch up front to earn some fouls and free kicks to stretch the offense... no, it's not a system designed to win 4-3, and I don't think (check our website, Hive 105 to be sure) that they've scored more than 3 goals in a game all season, but they've never given up more than 2... you stay in a lot of games that way. I still think they CAN pull it off, and will... I hope. Anyways, mas, I hope to see you there tomorrow night, come up in the press box and say hi. Oh... and it's uncanny... how did you know Man U was my fav team? And Real #2 in my heart... well, #3 with Oneida as #1.
  10. I tend to agree. I don't think they were playing "not to lose", since that has such a negative connotation.. they were playing more to protect themselves. They were making a statement, not only ro the opponent, but to themselves, that they belonged there. They should come more out of their shell now, but also consider... IT WORKED. They got regular season position, and home field doing it... why change now?
  11. Okay, this is all fun, and assuming (assuming, it COULD happen) that Kingston beats Harriman tonight, how many of y'all are driving to... uh... rowing to... uh.. swimming to Oneida tomorrow night for the semi? I'd like to have a big enough crowd to film for our local TV station here, give me something other than throw ins to comment on
  12. And Incidentally, Oneida does NOT have to play to win. All they have to do is make 1 more PK than Kingston, if they want to push 8 guys back again. Overtime is a wonderful thing. True, at that point it's skill and not luck... and putting 8 guys back and playing for counterattacks works for over half the pro teams in Europe, why is it a bad thing here?
  13. Sure he does... three days rest, and a draw with l.c. this year. Kingston rained out again tonight, they'll play Thursday-Friday if they beat Harriman (Well, it COULD hapen) ;P
  14. Well, no everyone... just no access for last couple of days. I agree on your placement, but not your scores... Oneida's keeper has 3 straight shutouts going, against Kingston, Lenoir City, and Anderson Co, right now... I think the semis go Oneida 1, Kingston 0, finals Lenoir city 1, Oneida 0 (6-5 on PKs). How's that for a limb? ;P
  15. Great Wall of China defense... I like that. 8 guys back at all times, the (very) occasional counterattack... they knew they couldn't go all out with lc.. they played their game, and played it well... l.c. missed 4 golden opportunities, but that Mitchell Thomas youngster impressed the HECK outta me, he's got unlimited potential. Great game overall, looking forward to coming back on Friday to film the District Championship rematch
  16. I've been following Oneida all season too, and I agree they have one of the best (if not the best) freshman around on their squad, and Marcus McCullogh (spelling optional) is an intriguing freshman keeper... most interesting fact about him, he HATES playing keeper. He has a forward's mentality, and doesn't take stupid chances in net... almost perfect for a solid defensive team like Oneida. I've gotten to meet alot of these kids, and they impress me. I'll say that freshman's name, Grant Swain... LOTs of upside. And Ryan Branim, the sweeper, has signed a scholarship to play college ball, at Cumberland, I think. Not bad for a fledling program at a football school.
  17. I agree, American newspaper coverage of soccer is shameful, and it only gets worse at the local level. I'm happy that given the opportunity to cover high school soccer for the television station I work for, everybody jumped at it. We have 2 TV stations (local access) here in Scott County, and between the two of us, cover at least all of the 2 school home soccer games, and I'll be travelling to Lenoir City to cover Oneida there tomorrow night. So not ALL of the local media outlets ignore soccer. But if a paper like the Tennessean can't devote a few column inches to soccer, and (I'm assuming) gives entire articles to spring football PRACTICE, I agree with you completely.
  18. No problem, as you can see, we try to keep up with football and basketball, too, but I make sure to have the varsity soccer up... looking forward to tomorrow!
  19. Hey folks, I'm going to be broadcasting the Oneida-Lenoir City game on Friday at Lenoir City. Everybody come on up and say hi! I'll be the guy from Channel 4 in Oneida.
  20. Hey guys, I work for the local radio station in Scott county, and we DO have Oneida's schedule and scores up... http://www.hive105.com is the place!
  21. I agree with the listing, really... although I'm REALLY keyed up for the L.C. Oneida game this Friday, to determine top seeding in District 4A... biggest game in Oneida program history... incidentally, Oneida is located in Scott County.
