  1. Bradford @ Greenfield tonight has been postponed until Thursday the 17th
  2. I'm sensing a trend from you wardawg. I've always felt the officiating away from home is bad too.
  3. Greenfield and UC both beat Bradford by 1. So I guess Greenfield and UC are equal by that logic.
  4. Vols description of game is on point. I think Greenfield made 2 from 3pt line. Tony had 19 and Hunter had 27. Both got to the rim a lot. 1st half neither team played great. 2nd half Greenfield got a string of stops and scored during that string stretch the lead. Hopefully just another week and Lannom can be back so he can get back to as close to 100% for the tournaments.
  5. Didn't make the trip so can't comment on anything.
  6. Dresden must likely will not be made up. South Fulton on Friday January 4th.
  7. I always enjoyed Trenton Peabody for some reason. And if course I'm a little partial to Greenfield but its old, the original wooden bleachers are still there, fans seem to be on top of you because they actually are. Atmosphere was great during games against South Fulton, Dresden, and Trenton. I agree with Indian on the one side of bleachers gyms. Hated Gleasons old gym.
  8. Pardon me. When UC goes undefeated through the first six games of the district schedule (with South Fulton still to play) including wins at Lake Co and Humboldt, they are the best. Greenfield does it and its lets wait til the end of the year to see.
  9. When UC goes undefeated through the first half of the district schedule including two wins on the road at Humboldt and Lake Co, they are the best. Greenfield does it and its lets wait til the end of the year to see.
  10. Halliday, Go back and read the post. He doesn't call Sisco a bad coach. What he is saying is that Pete is winning despite not having the athletes and pure talent that UC and Humboldt have had. Thats what the all things being equal comment means. You give all the teams in the same district the same amount of talent, Pete wins just as much as the next guy. And my two cents, it would be hard to lose 1A ball with those two teams that UC had regardless of coaching.
  11. Big win for Greenfield 58-48
  12. Surely she got some of those genetics from you as well..... Congrats to her and you as well.
  13. Beat Crockett Co. in a Jamboree (only 2 quarters). Didn't play West Carroll (Hall of Fame game for girls only). Dresden was postponed because Dresden still in football playoffs, not sure if it will be made up. South Fulton was postponed because Obion Co. schools were out that day because of sickness, no date for that one yet.
  14. Riversides was faxed and emailed. Did you get it?
  15. Actually nebutyn, the TSSAA deleted a session. They now only have 1 session each day. Granted they went up 1 dollar per session but you now get to see all 6 games instead of having to pay for 2 sessions. And the games on Wed, Thurs, and Fri get over with earlier too with just one session. I like the idea of rotating who plays early each year. Single A schools 99% of the time have the best crowds and playing them later in the day may give even more fans a chance to come. I guess we will see if it is true this year. And I've watched plenty of boring 2A and 3A games in my few short years of going.
  16. Like I said earlier, Don is a good choice. He is going to do the work it takes to try and turn it around. He is not going to be just someone who unlocks the locker room. I think him being a Greenfield graduate was a big factor in him getting the position but not the hometown politics you speak of and more so him having a much more vested interest in the program since it was one he and his family was a part of. Oldstonefort, I believe you are correct in that an experienced name removed themself from consideration.
  17. I'll rephrase what I said. From the people I heard who inquired about the position, he is a good hire. There was no big name in the inquired or applied pool. But I don't think anybody expected there to be.
  18. I like volfan am not sure but he might have been an assistant at JCM this past year to go along with his COLLEGE coaching experience at Lambuth. Like I said, he said he has work cut out for him but I think from the people I heard applied, he is a good choice.
  19. Haven't heard that he got the job yet but... Don Pitt is a 2000 graduate of Greenfield. Very good high school player. Played a year at a school in Arizona (I think it was a small D1) then finished up at Lambuth. He was an assistant at Lambuth I believe for the last few years before they shut down. As with anybody who gets it, he's got his work cut out for him.
  20. Last check Greenfield was western part of the state.....
  21. I said in a previous post that I thought they could be succesful because a lot of the same obstacles they are facing now were overcome in the late 90s early 00s. The only difference I see from now and then (and its a big one) is those teams is the district opponents and route to the playoffs. Many years if you won 2 district games you were a 3 seed because there was only 5 teams in the region. The size of the schools in the district has changed dramatically with the Z plan. Having only 3 classes in regular season as opposed to to 5 is really tough on a school that is one of the 5 or so smallest with football. I think the athletes are probably still there if you look at the basketball and baseball teams. Its just a matter of getting those kids out and being successful so they will want to play. Not a lot of people moving into the Greenfield area so no stallions in sight.
  22. 1) Yes if it produces some immediate results. Most want a winner now and don't want to wait for something to build over 3+ years. 2) At a school the size of Greenfield, as a coach you have to deal with sharing athletes. Any coach is going to tell you that he wants his players to only play his sport but I don't think the coach should force kids to choose, especially there. Don't know if it is happening for sure or not like a previous poster said it was but it shouldn't be. 3) Yes administrative support for all athletic programs will always be there. 4) If the teaching positions are there, the possibility for two faculty assistants will be there. That's what I have heard from locals who are still a part of the Weakley County school system.
  23. There is one paid assistant coach at Greenfield. This past year was his 2nd year I believe. The issue with that is that to have a paid assistant you have to have a teaching position. There was an assistant who gave up the coaching position a few years back but not his teaching position. I am not sure that a teaching position will open up for a 2nd assistant to be hired but it is just November so still a lot of time left in the year for a teacher to retire or take a position elsewhere that would open up a spot. It is a very tough situation for any coach to go into but in the late 90's early 00's, Greenfield had some successful teams (Above .500 records, playoff appearances, playoff wins) under some of the same circumstances that a coach would face right now (# of students, # of coaches). The biggest difference is that in those years it was the old playoff system, and the region that they played in was small and not that strong besides at the that top. Bruceton was in there for a few years, South Fulton and Dresden were really strong in the late 90s. Also those years Greenfield had a string of very talented players for a school of its size like Brock Porter, Lateef Skinner, Don Pitt, Rusty Darby, Jonathan McAdams, Josh Puckett just to name a few. Not saying that the kids there presently aren't good players or athletes but I'm not sure that the caliber of the players that I named are there. Just my two cents.
  24. Gant pitched yesterday against Waverly, 17 Ks only 1 hit. #2 man Ryne Fisher is who you get.
