  4. Here is how the game played out: http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_167342.asp
  5. Don't know anything about Marcum applying elsewhere. Guess that will come out in time. As far as Temple continuing without the Skogens, Sexton is the last really good play to come in since the Skogens left. (maybe some other good players but not like Sexton) They will not continue to win from this point on.
  6. Baylor, Boyd-Buchanan Tie 1-1
  7. wasn't he going to retire. Can't argue much with is accomplishments.
  8. anything new on this. I guess we assume no games tonight.
  9. yeah, that is what I have heard. They stand to loose some nice Friday night gates. Seems like they would think about making an exception. Maybe Scales (new superintendent) will handle it differently. It's a mess to re-schedule games but we will see what happens.
  10. I believe Hamilton county has a policy that says if you don't have school, you don't have games. Can't imagine they wouldn't play Friday night. Anyone know for sure?
  11. anyone have a schedule? Think it starts Thursday and ends Saturday night. Are all the games at CSAS? Temple used to host it with two gyms.
  12. I have seen Soddy play twice this year. Never noticed Mcneal do anything unclassy. One of the games was Hixson which was very close and Hixson won it at the buzzer. I am not even sure which one he is and I usually notice the ones with bad attitudes.

  14. in chattanooga, girls grow up playing softball and soccer not basketball. That is the difference. You don't have that as much in the surrounding counties. AAU is not real strong in Chattanooga, although I think it is improving.
  15. you may want to have GPS in honorable mention. I think they have a pretty strong team but don't think they have really played anyone yet. Good rankings though.... we will see how it may change over the coming months.
  16. assuming they paid the fine, looks like he didn't need to sit out two games. Again, they still don't know the rules. It's easy to find. Section 9. Coaches Ejected for Unsportsmanlike Conduct A. The school and coach will be required to submit a written report of the incident. B. The school will be given a choice of removing the coach for a specified number of contest(s) and pay a fine of $250.00 or face further disciplinary action. The school shall not allow the suspended coach to attend games while under suspension. C. In addition to what is presently required when a coach is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, a meeting shall be held with the coach, principal, and superintendent, or his/her appointed representative, with a report on the meeting and plans to directly address the matter to be filed with the state office by the principal. D. On any subsequent ejection by the same coach, the school will be given a choice of removing the coach for a specified number of contest(s) and pay a fine of $500.00 or face further disciplinary action. The school shall not allow the suspended coach to attend games while under suspension. E. Other non-monetary penalties may be assessed by the Executive Director based on all the facts. Page 18
  17. didnt the assistant coach get thrown out of a game last year? You would think after that, they would know the rules but I guess it could have been an honest mistake.
  18. I hate it when people say DII schools can recruit. NO ONE is allowed to recruit as BigG said. I know a private school that has a character/academic/service scholarship which covers full tuition. If it is awarded to an athlete, they cannot accept the $ if they want to play varsity sports. There is another issue in recruiting. Private and magnet school do recruit students. They have to to survive. Chattanooga area magnet schools have fair every year. The goal is to recruit students. Don't tell me when that 6'5 250 lb 8th grade football player walks up to the Tyner table, he doesn't get treated differently. (not accusing tyner of anything, just an example) Private schools also have fairs. They also advertise in the paper or billboards. The issue is approaching a student based on his athletic abilities. I would say 90% of recruiting happens with parents. (public and private) Select teams and AAU provides a good way for parents to find out who is who and who do I need to talk to about coming to my kids school.
  19. CAK student fans Looks like some of your students are skipping school.
  20. Baylor vs Notre Dame Soddy vs GPS CCS vs Cleveland Should be three great games between six great soccer teams. Really looking forward to Baylor-Notre Dame.
  21. even if it was deliberate, they did not know who to give the red card to. At that point they really messed up but I don't think you just pick someone randomly. They met with both coaches, explained the situation. They probably said- we messed up, don't know who the person was who had the hand ball so we give the pk and no one gets a red card. There were a few scrums but not many.
