  1. "Its obvious that the schedule was made like that on purpose." Obvious to you, but you have nothing to base that on except your opinion. Hey, did it ever cross your mind that a matchup with Gordon against fellow UT recruit Jarvis Hill would be more intriguing game? What about a Tyler Smith vs Jamont Gordon matchup? I guess they were dodging Tennessee Elite as well. Out of the Travelers four games, three teams were not sponsored and two of those three opponents were Tennessee teams. They also got beat by the unsponsored Tennessee Breakers in last years tourney. So much for your theory that the Travelers elude Tennessee teams that don't have shoe deals. Scheduling around the Ballerz was not even considered. I think you place too much importance on your team and assume concern that does not exist. and Gomab - your missing PG was not a Mr. Basketball winner and your player unjustly in foul trouble was not a Mr. Basketball runner-up. Also, why are you blaming refs when you won? That's bush. Try this - take the Ballerz 2 best players off the team and add Adams and Gordon back to the Travelers. Would that be a meaningful win for the Travelers?
  2. "This would be very good for our fine state." How would that benefit Tennessee? The Travelers aren't scared to play the Ballerz - or anyone. Nobody believes that. They played the Atlanta Celtics with Dwight Howard, Josh Smith and Randolph Morris. Now they are scheduling so they don't have to play the Ballerz w/o Gordon? C'mon...
  3. His prom was the night of the game. He played at Noon then left to go back to Nashville.
  4. Not to rain on your parade, but if Travelers starters Jamont Gordon and Johnathan Adams played, the Ballerz could have been on the other end of that 18 point deficit.
  5. "Why did Scooter go to Knoxville? Leaving Memphis for Knoxville is a idiotic move in my book. UT has absoluetly nothing going for it. Coach Calipari is doing a great job at recruiting and will always have a top-tier team." I don't think you're very educated about the current state of UT hoops. Coach cal has lost more to Tennessee than he's won. I may be misunderstanding your statement. Care to be more specific? I don't know your definition of a top-tier program, but in mine, Memphis isn't there. That would be Duke, Arizona, Kentucky, etc. You certainly see Memphis through tiger blue colered glasses.
  6. NCS03.........What did Gordon's line look like?
  7. couple of questions mike: When did Gordon fo to AAU nationals and who did he play for? When he was asked to play with the Y this past summer, why didn't he? He may be high on Kentucky, but how high are they on him? I love the way Gordon plays and think he would do well on the next level, but you're stretching the truth to win an argument (putting it nice). I asked those questions b/c I don't think you have the answers.
  8. Anybody have a working link or know the field and the schedule? Thanks.
  9. agree krogers. Hopefully basketball will be the catalyst to get his education. If he could not read his first year he played for a school, participating on that team shouldn't have been an option. I'll guarantee basketball would have been a reason to learn if that education was required to play. That was the requirement when I was in school. Is it not now???
  10. Coach, I commented on his talent on the court - which is all I know. People that sit in the bleachers don't know the life stories of each kid on the floor like a coach does. You know his situation and definitely don't like it, seems like helping him would be better suited for you - not sitting on a messageboard lecturing others who don't know Gordon, or his academic standing. Coachkev, what are you doing to help this kid?
  11. National Prep Basketball Poll 09:23 PM CST on Monday, November 24, 2003 Distributed by Associated Press The National Prep Basketball Poll is compiled by national high school sports experts Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman a panel of sports writers. Does Fairley have what it takes to be the best overall team in Tennessee this year (much less 12th nationally)?
  12. SWAC Alex Oliver (Bearden) - Alabama St also: SW Tennessee CC: Christopher Adams - Melrose Wayne Parks - Hillcrest Jerry Dover, Jr. - Germantown Anthony Barbee - Ripley Vincent DeWalt - Halls Anthony Holley - Melrose Londrick Nolen - Raleigh-Egypt Kenneth Bohanna - Overton
  13. Discuss him because he's an amazing talent - which is hard to come by in this state. From what I gather, the question was on the present, not the future. It was about comparing talent on the floor - not GPA's. Applying your standard coachkev, if a player can not reach D1 ball (for whatever reason), we shouldn't even discuss them - just be "preparing them for the real world". I doubt you really believe this. All ballplayers are student-athletes, some are better athletes than students and vice versa. I really believe Tennessee gets little respect nationally b/c the number of possible D-1 recruits (including the non-qualifiers) is much too low per capita. The 2005 class will be an exception, IMO.
  14. Good call, shack. I forgot (or didn't know) Palmer was named to the 15-U team last year. I haven't seen total records for all team and don't expect to. That info generally comes from the team. If the Breakers were there, they were added or changed to/from their pool late. We'll have to wait until a Breaker posts to tell us where they played this past weekend.
  15. The Mid State Ballerz 16's were one win away from the 16-U championship game at the prestigious Tournament of Champions (TOC). They were the only Tennessee team in any age group to advance out of pool play. Congrats to Ballerz Reginald Delk and Jason Black as well as Travis Sikes of the Thunder for making the 16-U All-Tournament team. Congrats also to Corey Brewer of the Travelers who made the 17-U All-Tournament squad. At last years tournament, no Tennessee players received All-Tournament honors - in any age group.
  16. tyree, what team is Jr on? Is he done for the summer already?
  17. I've seen Tony White Jr play. He's a freshman at Bearden HS. Like his dad, he's very quick, yet small. He's exciting to watch, as well as a quality freshman. I don't know if he goes by Ricco.
  18. Adams is with the Travelers, but he is playing up a year - with the 17U squad.
