from what i've been told on this beautiful friday, the new coach still HAS NOT met w/the coaching staff?? 4life, smash....can you confirm???? how are the other coaches supposed to help w/practice when they dont even know what's going on???

you honestly think this kid could play at UT? give me a break. i watched him play pegion forge at mo' west, and the kid could barely play w/them. sure he hit the game winning shot, but other than that he wasnt very good. you must not realize the level of competition from hs to college is tremendous, let alone hs to the sec. no wonder buzz didnt look at him, he's not good enough

scooter wasnt as fast as he was quick. he may very well be one of, if not the quickest player to come out of east tn in the past 15 years. that includes you mr rainer. ive watched you play and run. you can fly, but dont get on coacht and blab about how fast you were in high school. high schools over for you buddy, the times of hand timed 40 yard dashes are over. i bet there's not 50 kids in the united states (ages 15-18) that can run a 4.4.......

im with you smash. what has he seen of the new coach, or what has anybody seen of the new coach to say that he is great. something must have been going on in murfreesboro for him to leave. he was coaching the the "high school football capital" of tennessee, and only had 35 players on his team at the end of last year. that is unheard of for a 5A school in rutherford county. the administration at jeff has made, in my opinion, a mistake in hiring this guy. he's not even going out for a full week and he wants to put in a new offense, plus a new defense?????? come on now, im not the brightest, but that doesnt sound like a very good plan. on to the upcoming season. could, and probably will be a LONG one for the jeff county faithful. no doubt the offensive line will be the strength, but that is the only strength. the biggest spots to fill are fullback, wide receiver, secondary, and especially quarterback. whoever said that we wont miss much by losing clement and brown must have been on something. clement, although a hazard to the team a year ago, was a very solid and productive qb. pewitt cant throw the ball 10 yards, and bowlin cant remember 10 plays, so it's up for grabs. hope this coach has a strong run-to-pass ratio. brown was one of the best, if not the best, WR to play at jeff. acuff equals brown?????? sorry buddy, brown did a heck of a lot for the pats last year. acuff will not be able to duplicate his feats.

how could ellison do good coaching WR's when he was never at practice? he showed up on friday nights wanting to know what the game plan was. waste of time. jeff's freshman got the RAAAAAAAAAAAW end of the deal last year. good thing we're running a new offense, b/c they would have to learn it all over again b/c ellison didnt teach them anything. he didnt even run the offense or defense that he was told to run. waste of time he was.

ellison isnt a football coach. he was already on staff at the school, and meadows needed a ginny pig to coach freshman ball. i forgot about mccash. the other coach you cant think of is mechandor? the kids call him coach messy, he played for meadows at alcoa. hastings is stubborn, he wants to run his defense or no defense.

meadows invited all 3 coaches to come with him to william blount. 1 choose to do so, the other 2 did not. one of our coaches lives in johnson city and drives all the way down to jefferson city 7 days a week. if that's not dedication, i dont know what is. he is in school, and i think that over a 2 hour drive 7 days a week is stretching it just a little. the other is over 60, and just chose to stay put. so leaving them high and dry doesnt seem like the case here to me.

like i said, MY VIEW, MY OPINION. i dont see it as leaving his buddies high and dry as you said. i see it as a man doing what he feels is right for his family. and as i said, i, for one, am not pleased with the hire.

meadows brought in 3 of the best coaches around this area, 2 of them are young and know more than half the coaches who coach for 20 years. the other was older, but has written like 4 books. 2 of the 3 meadows brought in are still there. the other is now the defensive coor. at william blount. i was just saying that if the coach has been hired for what, 3-4 weeks now, and he hasnt even met with all of the coaches and from what we hear at hardee's, when he spreaks he's got the "im king of murfreesboro coming back to east tn where nobody can coach" swagger about him. i for one like to win, and the county of jefferson likes to win. sad to see meadows, a proven winner go, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. i PERSONALLY think we made a mistake. my view, my opinion.

he handed that team. if i recall, his first year as a coach he was 0-10 at a clarksville school. he walked into that team in 98, hasnt done much since.

word out of hardee's is that one coach has already stepped down from varsity and will only coach freshman. the other word out of hardee's is that 2 current coaches are ticked off and may not be there for much longer????????i think we made the wrong hire on this one.

rhea county runs the wing-t. they've got 2 kids, 2 and 15, that are pretty good athletes.

1-5A will have a tough road to murfeesboro. i know at jeff county we'll have to go to oak ridge and to db back to back for the 2nd and 3rd round if their isnt any upsets along the way. but we do have the 1st and 4th rounds at home. i heard one of our coaches say we would have WB at home in the 1st, at oak ridge, at db, then lincoln county at home. assuming we all make it that far.

nobody in high school football in the nation can run a sub 4.4 40, w/the exception of VERY FEW unbelieveable athletes. if you can run a 4.7 in high school, your flying and can outrun MOST EVERYONE you play up against. 40 time dont matter noway, it's game speed that counts
