  1. I'm posting this again because I don't think APB BCsportsfan or smokinnote read this. Or, and probably more likely they read it and chose not to acknowledge it. Thus far it seems I have been right in my assumption. If I have been, either private schools or closed zone schools have reason to take issue with the multiplier.
  2. It seems obvious that an open zoned school near a larger population i.e. Memphis, Nashville or Knoxville would have an even larger advantage. Which of the MSSD exceptions do you have an issue with APB? Be specific. Why do you need to wait for a few others to join in before we can "dive head first into this?" Milan's district lines are defined by the city limits. If a multiplier were implemented and Milan needed to adjust policy, (don't see anything that would lead me to believe this would be done as it's pretty black and white as it is) I'm sure we would have no issue doing so. I didn't mention any names of any schools. Why so quick to bark APB? Also, why would Red Robin need to research the correlation between open zone schools and the number of championships those schools have won? The TSSAA acknowledged the advantage of schools who had the ability to accept kids from any school district in the state when it implemented the multiplier. (Given that the reason for the TSSAA multiplying enrollments for private schools was because of the ability of those schools to accept students from any school district in the state-my original question.)
  3. I could research this but I really don't have the time or desire-What is the reasoning given behind the TSSAA multiplying the enrollment of private schools? Is it because private schools lack school zone boundaries meaning one can pull from literally anywhere in the state? If this is the case, what is the difference between an open zoned school and a private school, other than obvious tuition disparity. This is a somewhat ignorant question with the possibility of a simple and obvious answer. But, if someone could enlighten me I would appreciate it. Also, let's try not to take it down "that" road.
  4. I understand Lake Co. is a very solid program. But we are replacing our biggest rival because they can't compete with us anymore. Lake Co. barely beat that team in the 2nd round of the 1A playoffs. Lake Co. should continue to succeed but I don't feel like either team would benefit from playing each other. Like I said, going to be NS, Liberty or Henry Co.
  5. Lake county would not be a good game for us to schedule. We're going to have to schedule one of the 4A or 5A schools to get a good game - Henry County, NS, or Liberty. Not many good teams in West Tennessee.
  6. Morris will have a lot of time to figure that out. At times Powell definitely looked like a sophomore but there's no denying that he can sling it around. You know Morris would like to line down and run off tackle every play and we can do that against a lot of teams. But, we scored 14 and then got shut out against Alcoa and only scored 10 against Camden which was due to the passing game. We had success early running the sweeps out of the shotgun early last night but Nance was getting hit before he took the hand off on the off tackle plays. We don't have the O-line to line down and run over people in the late rounds like we historically have. We looked good throwing it around last night, especially with a sophomore QB and a bunch of sophomore and junior WRs, on top of being something this program has NEVER done before. IMO we'll still try to run a lot of I-formation and we'll have a lot of success in the regular season as there just aren't any really good teams in our Region (did hear we were replacing Hdon with a Liberty or NS). But, I think we will see much more shotgun over the next two years.
  7. Both schools have great programs. I would like to see a good game but I won't be rooting for or against one or the other. Having said that, I think Alcoa wins this one pretty easily, again. GP has been the beneficiary of a lot of mistakes the last 2 weeks that I don't think Alcoa will make. I don't feel like it will be too difficult for Alcoa to defense the Wing-T. GP is big but Alcoa is too and should be quite a bit faster. If Rankin chooses to, Tallent should have success through the air as well. Looks like another one for Alcoa but who knows. Good luck to both teams.
  8. 19-0 6 mins. into the game after the 2 fumble recoveries for TDs, can't allow that to happen. Congrats to GP and good luck next week. Tons of young kids out there tonight and a very talented freshman group coming up, should be exciting for the Dawgs. For years Milan had the biggest and strongest O-line around, the last 3 years I don't know what's happened. Hopefully Morris and Jackson can develop some of the younger players. Looks like we could see a strong passing game the next couple of years, though.
  9. The Jackson Suns "Fearless" has picked Goodpasture.
  10. Jackson Sun article on the game-Article
  11. Is that "kid" being recruited? We were definitely the smaller team last Friday as well. But, we've got a lot of speed. The defense really flies to the ball and while I don't know that I could say that we've necessarily lived by the big play, a lot of points and yards have come from big plays.
  12. Victor Parkins wrote a very good article on Camden in this weeks Milan Mirror Exchange.
  13. Coach Morris said GP is "huge" but we have the speed advantage. "Our speed versus their size."
  14. In 2008 we started 4 seniors on offense and 7 juniors. We started 5 seniors on defense, 4 juniors and 2 sophomores. We were pretty underclassmen heavy that year, no different this year. After the injuries I think we're starting 2 seniors, 7 juniors and 2 sophomores on offense after replacing all 11. We start 6 seniors, 2 juniors and 3 sophomores on defense. Also, a Sophomore kicker.
  15. We played great defense against Camden and that makes me confident but honestly GP can throw the ball and that should worry Milan fans just a little. I think Reynolds has thrown for roughly 1600 with 18/3-those are great numbers. Like someone said to me at the game Friday night, 3 things you can always count on with Milan: A front 7 or 8 as good as any, a very good tailback, and a shaky secondary. Like BDF#2 said 3 of them are 3 years starters so you feel OK about it but I think GP might have some success through the air which is going to have to happen if they want to win. On the flipside though, GP is giving up a lot of points so I'm anxious to see if the offense can get rolling this week. Should be a great game. Anyone have any insight on the Cougar defense?
  16. My guess is GP throws the ball quite a bit this week. Reynolds has put up some good numbers.
  17. Gerry, I understand that you don't like Milan because you feel like some didn't respect Fairview. However, I consider myself a balanced and honest fan. I feel like Camden was quite a bit better than Fairview. That is no slight to Fairview at all. Had you been at the game last night you wouldn't have recognized that Milan team as the one you saw the week before. Camden was big and fast. But Milan played with emotion and played excellent defense. Some teams may challenge Milan in the couple of years but aside from Coleman and Trey Milan the big plays last night were made by underclassmen.
  18. Lot of good friends from Lexington, expect to see them win this one. Good Luck.
  19. Good luck to your Tigers Montague. Like Morris said before the season, "We're rebuilding with talent." You can't replace an Avery Williamson but Arkel Coleman leads the team in tackles as a SO. and is already a stud. Same can be said for fellow SO. TJ Bryson and Jrs. Graves and Simpson. They played lights out last night as did the D-line. I'm very confident in the defense but it sounds like Goodpasture has had quite a bit of success through the air. Also seeing where they are giving up some yards. Hopefully we can get the offense rolling this week. I was told GP has a pretty big stadium and I expect a big crowd on the visitor side.
  20. What does GP bring to the table? We looked good against the Wing-T tonight but the O struggled again.
  21. Great game obviously. I really thought Camden would win this one when they got down in the redzone late. I was having flashbacks to Huntingdon 03-05 but the defense came up huge again. The Mr. Football candidate was in the backfield all night. He's an excellent player. Milan had the chance to put it away in the 3rd but a Camden D back made a heck of a play to pull the ball loose. This may have been the best coaching job I have seen from Morris. He has absolutely got the Wing-T figured out, just hope it carries over to next week. The very young Milan linebacking group played excellent tonight. I was told that like Morris, Ward doesn't call all of the plays. The 4th and 4 call was a bad one. If he runs a sprint pass to the wide side one of the wingbacks would have been naked in the endzone. I'm glad they opted to run. Congrats to Camden on a great season. Great atmosphere tonight but someone needs to slip the PA a note asking him to cut down on the mic time. Gotta do it again next week.
  22. If Finch takes the opening kickoff to the house I will pack up and go home.
  23. I think the young team with all the O-line injuries the last 2 weeks may be too much for the Dawgs to overcome. They're going to have to play a good ball game not allowing the big play and make a few themselves. The last time I sat on the visitor side for a couple of hours before kickoff in the freezing temps I went home a little disappointed. Hope this one turns out better. Hope both teams play well and injury free. Someone's gonna need em against GP/PC and definitely against you know who. Camden's more likely to win but I'll take the Dawgs by 6.
