  1. Lamon Williams, Dobyns Bennett's all everything reciever went down last night with an ankle injury. Also, fullback Chase Flanary, DB's backbone was hurt also. Good news is that neither one seems to be too bad.
  2. Whatever the scene in Jeff. County of Friday, DB has played in front of more people on many occasions. It won't be as packed as a regular DB home game, andf definitely won't be like a those semifinal games we've been to.
  3. SirPettus, You boys did come to Kingsport and win it in the regular season, but as hard as it is for you, we railed you girls for all it was worth in the playoffs. I know you are just trying to forget that night when the injuns came through again when it matters.
  4. Bud, you are my hero and I admire you greatly. And as for the scrappin', I can't find the friggin' K-Mart! Injuns-24 Wildkitties-21
  5. I've got you covered on the Tri-Cities area. A couple of these teams may be out in the hills of the surrounding counties a little bit. 1) Dobyns-Bennett 2) Science Hill 3) Cloudland 4) Elizabethton 5) Sullivan North Just Missed: Sullivan Central Tennessee High Volunteer Sullivan South Sullivan East Unicoi County Happy Valley Cherokee
  6. What can we say guys, he's from Gate City.
  7. I don't think you can look any further than the fans of Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport. The only school that I can think of that even compares to the Indians' is Maryville (and maybe Oak Ridge). In my 4 years there, I can not think of one road game that we did not have more fans than the home team. Home games are a sight to see in high school football. The city of Kingsport revolves around DB football this time of year.
  8. Let me know if I leave anyone out! QB- Mark Byrd, Cloudland FB- Chase Flanary, Dobyns Bennett TB- Scooter Houston, Jeff. County WR- Lamon Williams, Dobyns Bennett Jacob Holt, Maryville (I think he's still there) TE- Anthony Barcel, Science Hill OL- Don't know enough standouts in east TN. to list them other than the manchild from Sevier County.
  9. I'm gonna have to go with my Indians, 35-10. The offense seems to have started clicking last week, and our D is very impressive. Roll Tribe, and I hope I'll get to make it to this one!
  10. viking te, Coach Wampler retired from DB I guess two years ago. He is now working on the golf game, but he's still around. He is as much a teacher of life lessons as those on the football field, and I as a player will always thank him for that. Ethan King was a student teacher and assistant coach at DB a couple of years ago before he went to join the younger Wampler in west TN. I havn't heard if he left with Wampler or is still at Perry County.
  11. Exactly! Naw, I'm just kiddin GC
  12. Dobyns-Bennett is up 21-0 on Sullivan North at the half with two rushing TD's and a catch by Lamon Williams. Keep it rollin Injuns'
  13. I think he'll be fine and I definitely see the Shawn Bryson comparison. Gerald Riggs ran high in high school but he learned real quick not to when he got to Knoxville. He might not be the "cadillac", but who knew about Ronnie Brown at Auburn before last year.
  14. Anybody coming to the DB scrimmage on Friday? Looks like the Injuns' O-Line needs to get a little fire in their rears as Coach Ted Wilson used to say. I'm a UT student and I've seen Maryville scrimmage once and practice once, and those two QB's are both the best in the area. This scrimmage should be a great one, and hopefully our 15 year old QB will not get rattled, cause when he doesn't he's special. To be honest, the defense if the usual DB defense, but you won't see the option as much on O, and here comes the gun. The Indians better bring it good on Friday or ya'll might get to havin a lot of fun in Kingsport. Hope to see ya'll there!
  15. I'm a UT student from Kingsport, but three of my best friends in the world since I got down here two years ago are from White House. I called them when I read this post and they already knew about it. I will be praying for these kids. and I know the good Lord will watch over them.
  16. If Scooter Houston ran a legit 4.29, then I am his new agent and he will be driving to school in a Cadillac Escalade tomorrow. He has just set the national high school record for the fastest 40 and will no longer be playing football. Scooter is now a world class track star.
  17. Darrel Watson at DB is definitely tops in east TN. as far as defense goes. Just watch the Indian defense year in year out and you will understand. I remember my senior year, Oak Ridge had beaten us at our place because us linebackers were having trouble picking up the back out of the backfield and containing Adrian Prter at the same time. When the playoff game at Oak Ridge came, coach Watson drew up a completely new defense that was the most dominating D I've seen at DB in a while. We ended up holding Oak Ridge to 6 points and Porter got frustrated with the licks he was taking and couldn't do anything. Coach Watson knows defense as well as anybody, no doubt about it.
  18. You have to go with Clark. Coach Clark dishes out some of the best and most hilarious quotes imaginable to the media.
  19. Most dedicated: Dobyns-Bennett Oak Ridge Cloudland Elizabethton Sevier County Riverdale MBA Most respected: MBA Oak Ridge (as a former DB player, you have to respect them cause they love it as much as we do) Sevier County DB
  20. The best stadium in east Tennessee has to be Dobyns-Bennett's. It is pretty large for a high school stadium and the fiels is always the nicest that there is. Come playoff time every year, the field looks like a college field with the endzones painted, the indian head at the 50, and the tomahawks for hash marks. When the new 3.5 million dollar field house is finished, J. Fred Johnson stadium will definitely be the best in the east, and probably the state.
  21. I knew he went somewhere besides Melrose, but I couldn't think of it.
  22. Do you not think any private schools deserve to be on this list? You have to think about schools such as MBA, Brentwood Academy, Ezell-Harding, McCallie, etc. Don't get me wrong, I like your top-ten with a very biased Region 1 touch.
  23. I have often wondered what it would be like if Tennessee went away from the class system based on enrollment for football and let anaybody play anybody else. Wouldn't it be great if schools such as MBA and Brentwood Academy could play schools like Dobyns-Bennett and Maryville week-in-week-out. If there could be a 10-team "Superconference" in Tennessee then who do you think would be the teams that deserve to be included? My top 10 in no order: 1. Maryville- Obviously. It doesn't matter what classification, they give TN high school football a good name. 2. MBA- Tradition, one of TN's best private schools. 3. Riverdale- To win the 5A championship, you must go through Riverdale (Ex: My Indians last year.) 4. Cloudaland- A bunch of good ole boys who can play the game of football. 5. Brentwood Academy- Right there with MBA, they have tradtion. 6. Kingsport Dobyns Bennett- Winningest all time school in the state, with a top-3 5A team year in year out. 7. Oak Ridge- Will always be a tough game. 8. Memphis Melrose- It seems like this school has turned out more great players than any other in the state. (Ex: Cedrick Wilson, Mondre Dickerson, Albert Means) 9. ? 10.? I couldn't decide on the last two with all of the teams that could be considered. Plaease let me know if I've forgotten somebody. Give me your top ten.
