  1. Hillsboro by as much as they want to win by. The Burros have more athletes period. People continue to bash Rossview as the weak sister in region 6-4a, but by gosh the Hawks were in the playoffs and finished 4-1 in the second half of the 2006 season to get in the playoffs. That 4-1 record includes a road win against MJ in OT 10-7. Yes, MJ has played really good football since that loss, but it is over this Friday night.
  2. BeechBucs20, Yes, you did beat Rossview 39-0 in week 7. However, since then they have 3 straight region games including a 21-0 shutout over Northwest. Wait, didn't you get shut out by the then winless Vikings? Yes you did 18-0. Bottom line is you are packing it in today and the Hawks are going to be practicing and getting ready for a good Hillsboro team.
  3. Hey DonaldDuck, Well, we did not see that awesome 42-0 performance that you were expecting. Mother nature threw a great big monkey wrench into the game plan. The players from Kenwood played hard, but the kids from Rossview did as well. No one expected Rossview to come out and perform the way they did last night, except those people asociated with that program. Rossview scored in all 3 phases of the game. Turnovers played a major role in this game last evening as the Knights ended the night with 2 fumbles- 1 for a TD, and 1 INT for a score as well.
  4. The Knights have found their running game to compliment the air attack. Coach Mac will have the Knights ready to defend the Mount Juliet wing t offense. Good luck Knights! Kenwood by 2 touchdowns.
  5. Well I guess we now see who earned the victory in this contest. The Hawks played hard throughout the contest and the defense came up with 5 key turnovers to aid the cause. Mount Juliet is a good football team that is improving each week and I wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.
  6. 7. John Utley( I believe) is the players name from Springfield that also plays fullback. He played some tailback for them last year and was also the back in their one- back spread offense that Coach Arrington utilized. The qb( Smith is his name I beleive) is a good runner and has strong legs. They also used the 3-3-5 defense some last year.
  8. Do not look for changes at Rossview. The Head Coach was in his 2nd year with the school. After an 0-10 campaign in his first season the Hawks finished the season with a 2-8 mark. Progress is being made as the Hawks were more competitive this season. They do return as many as 7 starters to the defense for the 2006 season. Future looks bright for the Hawks.
  9. Four years ago the head coaches in Montgomery County decided that if the schools were going to have a chance to compete on the varsity level, then the jv games had to be played. Teams were trying to field freshman teams on Thursdays, Varsity on Fridays, and then jv on Mondays. JV games were being cancelled on a weekly basis and thus, the jv league was created out of necessity because the sophomores were losing valuable game experience from the 9th to the 11th grade years. The six high schools in Montgomery County and Springfield and Sycamore make up the league. We play a regular season that runs through week 8 of the varsity season. The jv playoffs consist of the top four teams from the league and the two top seeds host. The highest seed to advance to the championship hosts the game. All sophomores and freshmen are eligible, and we now allow up to three juniors that do not start on varsity.
  10. Coach Holmes has done an excellent job so far for Dublin. I learned as much about the game of football and time management from him than anyone else. I am glad to know that he is having tremendous success in Dublin. His first team lost in the state championship to Mccreachen County. His 2nd year was a 3-7 campaign, then he lost in the semi finals last season as well. He now has two former Beech coaches and two from Portland on staff to the best of my knowledge.
  11. macdaddy, congrats to you and the coaches and players for the hard fought victory this past Friday in Paris. It sounds like you guys have finally found a way to put the ball in the end zone. Good luck this week against NW and it will be packed at the Wood for your home opener.
  12. catfish hunter, I do not consider last Friday's win by Rossview an upset. Those young men battled their tail ends off for 48 minutes and made the plays when they were needed to preserve the one point victory. I hope you continue to pick against the Hawks, because the Hawks win every time you do that.
  13. werazzlin, I hate to burst your bubble. The last time Beech was in region 6-4A, I was part of the coaching staff and we did not go rolling into the semi's. Beech last saw the semi's in the 1994/95 season. I was part of the staff from 1997-2000. We went 3-7 in 1997 and 8-3 in the 1998 campaign and lost to Franklin in the 1st round of the playoffs. Between stints with 4A- the Bucs played in region 5-5A and made the playoffs as well.
  14. It is hard to say who will be the best in Clarksville. This year especially because you have it set up so that NE does not play everyone in the city/county. The fact that NE moves up in classification while Kenwood and CHS both move down plays into this delimma.
  15. Queen City Football Jamboree Schedule: 1st/2nd QTR. Harpeth v. Rossview 3rd/4th QTR. Moore County v. Clarksville Academy 5th/6th QTR. Cheatham County v. Clarksville High 7th/8th QTR. Montgomery Central v . Kenwood The action starts at 6pm on Friday August 19th @ Kenwood High School.
  16. I do think that Clarksville High will be the favorite to win this region. After that, it should be a region that is wide open for the remaining 3 playoff spots. I look for some surprises to come from this region in the fall. Kenwood will be in the running as they return several starters on both sides of the ball. Springfield will be loaded with athletes as usual. Look for Rossview to be much improved from last year as they return several players with varsity experience as well. I know that Beech will ride the shoulders of the fastest man in the state, Malcolm Sheffield. I am uncertain about Portland and Mt. Juliet and what they have returning for this coming season. Clarksville NW lost most of the starting backfield from last year, with Bratton being the lone returning starter in the Viking backfield.
  17. Queen City Jamboree is scheduled for Friday August 19th @ Kenwood High School: Participating teams include the following: Clarksville Academy Clarksville High Cheatham County Harpeth Kenwood Moore County Montgomery Central Rossview Action gets underway at 6 pm.
  18. A new year with new teams in the region. Anything is possible right now. I think that Clarksville is the favorite for the top spot. After that, it is anyone's guess.
  19. The Rossview Hawks are looking for a fall scrimmage on Friday Aug. 12th. Anyone interested should call Russell Mang (931) 217-3174.

So, is Coach Crabtree really that unhappy at Beech High School already? Word is, that he wants to join Coach Bledsoe's staff at Dickson County for this upcoming season.
  21. I can tell you this much about the situation, yes Coach Taylor is hanging up his whistle and will pick up his fishing pole a little more often. Coach Hardison will not return as an assistant coach next year. Coach Aric will land on his feet by next football season for sure. He is examining all of his options right now. I talk with Hardison, Taylor, and Aric about once every ten days. Aric could wind up at Bradley, Harpeth, or Hickman as a Head Coach or in a number of places as an assistant coach.
  22. 2005 Schedule for the Kenwood Knights: week 1 @ McGavock week 2 @ Beech* week 3 @ Henry County week 4 NWHS* week 5 NEHS week 6 Portland* week 7 @ Mt. Juliet* week 8 CHS* (HC) week 9 Springfield* (Sr. Night) week 10 @ Rossview* * Region 6-4A Game
  23. I think Clarksville NE will win this game at home. NE is a good ball team that lines up and pounds the ball at you with Swenson and Scott. Cunningham runs the wing t offense very well and makes good decisions when throwing the football. Coach Kordisch, Watkins, Hudson, and Welch will have the eagles ready to soar next Friday night.
  24. Region4fan, Marke Burke is a former Head Coach for the Clarksville Northeast Eagles. He was the replacement for Rick Butler, who is now at the University of the South.
  25. Look for the Kenwood Knights to be a much improved team from the previous two seasons. The Knights have reached the w column only once in the last two seasons. New Head Coach Brett Bauer has the players working hard in the weight room and in changing the attitude about Knights football. One thing is for sure, the Knights will not throw the football 35 times a game.
