From what I have seen, Marion won't be battling with Bledsoe for the 4th playoff spot. They already have that wrapped up. From what I saw, they are going to be battling with Seq. Co. for the 3rd sport and possibly even challenge for the 2nd spot.

And before anybody has a smart comment, I know the team that scores the most will win. Who will that be though? After seeing the Sequatchie Valley Jamboree I think it is the Pirates. How does everyone else feel? What does Greenback have this year?

I just talked to a friend of mine from Jasper and he said that the Warriors are going to be unveiling a west coast offense this year. Or at least it is supposed to be a big passing game. Surely this can't be true. I thought they had a couple of good running backs coming back this year. You would think that they would use them. The people in Jasper will roast the coach if it fails. Of course if it works it might be fun to watch. Can anyone from down there or who has scrimmaged them verify this?

Where does the money from this go? I had heard at one time that it goes to pay for insurance. Is that still the case? If not then do the teams get an even split?

You people from Temple are talking it up pretty good so far. What are you going to have this year? I know you have a good passing game, or so it has been said. Just how good is your QB? How are your receivers? RBs? Line? What is your defense going to look like? What offense do you run? Here's your chance. Your own topic to let us all know how good you are. I am not trying to run you down or anything if it sounds that way. These are actually questions I was wondering about. Everyone seems to think that you are going to give SP a run and are putting you on top of everyone else in the region so I am just wanting to know what you have.

Not talking about players I would say South Pittsburg has had a good Father/Son combo as head coaches in Don and Vic Grider. Both have won state championships for the Pirates as the HC.

South Pittsburg is live on Friday nights on WEPG 910 AM with one of the better high school play-by-play guys I have heard. Marion County is tape delayed the next day on WEPG 910 AM as well with their long time guy Dave Daffron.

Will it be a 3-6 team or the one that is 5-5. I know that it is hard to think that a 3-6 team should be in the playoffswith a home game but that is how the rules work so I don't want to hear about that. I'm just wanting a fair and honest assesment of how this game is going to go.

I thought the kid (I never caught his name) that came in at QB looked good too. If the receivers could have caught half of the passes they dropped he would have had some great stats.

This game will depend on how good Grundy is in the trenches. SP's line play was not very good last Friday against Lookout Valley but it came around as the game went on. The Pirates still have a pretty good set of skill players so it is all going to come down to who can control the line of scrimmage. I'm going with South Pittsburg in a close one.

In one word ... YES! I think there are way too many classifications in Tennessee High School football. And 7 or however many there is now with the public split is an even greater number than we need. With the split I think there is no doubt that the TSSAA should go back to 3 classifications. It will be harder for teams to win titles but then the competition should be better week in and week out.

Grace, Temple and David Brainerd are slated to be in the same region as Boyd, South Pittsburg, Whitwell, Copper Basin and Lookout Valley when and if they start playing region play. David Brainerd was going to start last year and had all of the region teams scheduled. It seems like it caused a big stink when they decided not to play the region schedule. Either way, hats off to the new schools. Good luck to the kids starting it off for them.

Well, I hope that he has a safe trip but tell him to come early. Seating and parking are in great demand but not in great supply. Both sides will be full early and I am sure that if any high school game is actually worth the 7 bucks to get in then this one will be.
