  1. Very sad story that i think we all know will end up with wilson co. not shutting down sports...however, any girls basketball players wanting to transfer there will be a ton of rutherford and williamson schools with open doors. Wilson is the king (queen) of girls basketball.
  2. I wish good luck to whoever Nolan chooses - but I want to say that high school sports lost obviously a good coach but more importantly a good man. Good luck to you Coach Harris and thanks for your positive impact.
  3. The Sec tiebreaker discussed on here is how it is done in 9AAA i do believe. Good luck to all-going to be a GREAT tourney and hopefully we will send 2 teams to Murphy!!!
  4. Smyrna High School will hosting its annual Christmas Classic Dec. 27-28-29 with Lincoln Co.,Ezell Harding,Oakland,Cheatham Co.,Marshall Co.,Goodpasture,Moore Co., and Smyrna. Each team will play each day with girls games starting at 10:00 a.m. and the last boys game starting around 8:30 p.m.
  5. How do you think the district 9-aaa wil end up this year?
  6. Great ideas - let me add another one. Make EVERY round best 2 of 3 . Example - #4 vs. #5 #2 vs. #7 #3 vs. #6 # 1 vs. #8 all 2 of 3 at higher seeds field. If odd number in your district highest seed would get a bye to the next round of 2 of 3. Continue this format all the way thru the state championship - it would add a TOTAL of one week to the tournaments and would establish a true champion as well as make the regular season mean something. The team with the deepest pithching staffs would eventually win out and not get into a situation like Marshall Co. where they have to throw off in a huge game because of weather. Tennessee is blessed with a ton of baseball talent and this would give them all a chance to shine in big games and not get stuck not being able to perform. Whatever the T$$AA decides they can't keep baseball stuck in the stone ages as is the case with the current format. Baseball is all about getting it done at the right time and the current format brings too many other factors into play. High school sports is for the players and lets let them decide who is best!!
  7. Of all the threads on this fine board of ours, this has to be the dumbest. The ONLY people that have to rate the coaches of our county are, in order of importance, 1.school principal 2. school a.d. 3. players in the program 4. parents of the players, but only to decide whether or not to let their child play for that coach(and once they do they should get behind that coach thick or thin) 5. the coach him or her self. No one else's opinion even matters (obvious exception would be our school board). Whoever the moderator is of this forum do your job and keep this forum what it was intended to be - a place to talk UP the kids of this great county regardless of what school they go to. And since this county hasn't had a boys basketball state champion since 1965 maybe it isn't the coaches maybe, just maybe, some of the responsibility lies in the players themselves.
  8. Smyrna 10 - Goodpasture 0 in 6 because of RUN RULE!!!- Sonny Gray was awesome on the mound and a homer-Carl Seals 4 for 4 with 2 homers, double, and single. Great game dawgs keep it going!!!
  9. Kyle Mooney and Kyle Ramsey are having hughe years for the smyrna bulldogs right now. They both can definately play
  10. Let's not forget they are talking about losing money for BOTH (boys/girls) tournaments. I think you have to do something about the down time between the boys sub-state and the state tourney. That is why attendance is slipping, there is a week and 1/2 between your excitement about winning a sub-state and playing in state tourney, all so the girls can have their tourney first. Girls have it great, sub-state win on Sat. night and state tourney on Wed. Boys get screwed. I think you could have both tourneys during same time (girls in boro/boys in nashville (belmont/lipscomb??) and be fine. Yes Mr. $1000 suit would have to work a little harder, yes there is a chance that a school could have both teams in tourney at same time, yes our so-called media would have to work a little harder as well, and yes it would cause some people hardship over deciding which tourney to attend, but let's face it, in our great state you are either a girls fan or a boys fan, there aren't that many out there that go to both tourneys. There is a way to do this without taking a great experience/memory away from a kid, school, and community. My idea probably isn't the answer but its food for thought.
  11. i am a player on the smyrna high team and we should have beat riverdale, we made a lot of turnovers in the game and went 16 for 24 from the freethrow line if we would have hit our freethrows we would have won that game hands down! and thats a fact i hope we get to play them again
  12. I would really like to know the tourney schedule if anyone knows. I hear they always have a good tourney-I'll be bored after Christmas-love to go if I can. Please post if anyone knows.
  13. you know region, i dont know if its because i graduated but Blackman's crowd, students and band doesnt seem to be as loud this year as in years past. i know the band lost alot of students to graduation so the fact that they arent as loud isnt their fault. but i usually sit next to the student section and they dont cheer at all, i mean sure they had a few loud pops at the Siegel game but i was dissapointed. if they are like that at the Riverdale game i will have to come out of retirement to lead the student section. watch out!!! First of all, even though many people graduated from Blackman's band doesn't mean it's not loud. They actually fill up a whole entire section on the home side. They are much bigger than they've ever been. For some reason (and they may have been told to do so), they've just toned it down this year. They don't play constantly. It's kind of disappointing for Blackman fans. The student section is pathetic, I will say. I sit in it every single week & it turns out being about 20 Seniors and that's it. The sad part is that there are about 50 or more students that sit at the other end of the bleachers and don't stand, don't cheer, nothing. If we could get the cheerleaders to stand in front of the student section & that whole group of students to sit with us, we might be a little louder. It's hard to be loud if only .5% of your school decides to sit where they should. First of all will you please shut up about the band this is a sports website and the lat time i checked being in the band isnt a sport so who cares whos band is louder than whose can we please talk about football if you want to talk band get your own gay pride website because anyone that would rather be in the band than play a sport is a total fruit cake. As for the game no contest Smyrna wins by 2 tds
  14. I dont kno abot all you sissys that are replying on this post but anybody that knows anything about baseball knows that there are sometimes a player needs to be hit on purpose period end of disscusion. So learn the game before coming on here and writing stuff that you know absoulutely nothing about
  15. i wish you Clarksville people would take a computer course,or something, girls basketball has its own forum- do your flappin' on your own board.
