Congrats to the Tribe on a great year. Roll Tribe Roll, I would have loved to have seen another playoff game between Oak Ridge and DB. That is Friday night football at its finest.

Two of my favorite teams going head to head. Clinton with Coach Shattuck or the program Oak Ridge was built upon. Good luck to both teams Friday night, stay injury free so the playoffs will be very interesting.

PepVol, you used the phrase "cheated and mistreated" twice. Your words not mine. I simply stated the truth on both things I mentioned, that OR was denied any space in the press box and that Maryville did not have one penalty the entire game. I do not blame Mark Packer and crew, they were guests as well. The school decides who goes where. I can assure you that next year when MHS visits Blankenship field they will be provided space for their coaches and probably BOTH their radio stations. That is the difference in our schools. As for the officiating, it was just that. Not anything I can fix. I am sure that Maryville fans have had their share of posts regarding officiating. It was a great game and Maryville won. Good luck in the playoffs.

Glad McMinn will let us in the press box, when we went to play Maryville they made our visiting radio folks sit in the stands. Looking forward to a great game at McMinn the Cherokees are a great team and hopefully this will be a SRO crowd!

THIS game is probably the best matchup of all the first round games. Should be a great game and we look forward to returning to the Tribe's field. Great place for football and food. Friday Night Lights will be in McMinn County this week for sure.

I just hope they treat DB a little better than they did OR. First off they did not make any room for our visiting radio and made them broadcast from the stands, even though they had TWO home radio stations in their press box. I can assure you when Maryville does come to play in OR we will give them space. And just one statistic from our first game against Maryville, the ref's did not throw one flag on Maryville, but OR sure got a few. You can read what you want from that one. This should be a good game as I expect DB to play at another level for Post Season. Maryville may be my neighbor, but DB is our kin. Truly one of the great football places in all of Tennessee is J. Fred and the fans. the matchups between DB and OR have been some of the best. Good luck to both teams.

It is outstanding that these two schools are meeting under these conditions! Should be a great game and a great crowd. Coach Shattuck and Coach Blade are great coaches and I wish them both luck. Oak Ridge has grown tremendously over this season and I believe will give Clinton all they can handle. If this game had been at the first of the year I believe it would have had a different look. If anything, I just hope some well meaning youth will forgo past history and not try to vandalize the 'Ship. I am all for spirit and bring all you got, but bring it to the game! However, we cannot over look Hardin Valley. We still have a game to play before we get Clinton. A game well worth the wait.

Two of my favorite teams both with an intense rivalry with Oak Ridge. I hate that we lost the regular game with DB as either travelling to J. Fred or hosting them on Blankenship was/is the best in Friday night football. Farragut has become a great game for the Wildcats as they have eached pushed each other to greater heights as they know a win in this game will not come easy. Oak Ridge and Farragut are great teams with a tradition of excellence that shows on the field. I look forward to this game. Glad to see their QB back up and ready to go-hard to keep an Admiral down when there is a game to play. Lets start this season! Good luck to both teams Friday night. OK, rumor mill time. I heard today that Winston Russell is rejoinging the football coaching ranks and will be back on the sidelines this Fall as QB coach. I also picked up that Coach Gray may be rejoining the football Fall lineup as well. Anybody got anything on this?

Knoxville News-Sentinel is reporting on their web page that Oak Ridge has hired Hillsboro's head coach Scott Blade as the new Head Coach for Oak Ridge. Roll Wildcats Roll.

OK, I am going to go off topic for just a moment, Ronnie Carter, the head of TSSAA has announced he is retiring in June. Wonder who is going to head up the group that controls all of the sports now? Now back on topic, Whoever they name, my only thought is that they need to get it over with. Time is wasting and this issue should be resolved so the program will not be in turmoil. First he denies he is resigning and then does just that, resigns. The Oak Ridger Editor chastized former Coach Stevens for misleading the public. This era is closed, it is time to put this behind the program and move towards a new future for Oak Ridge Football. This evening Knox County School Supt. announced that he had made the decision to sit the players involved until their legal problems are concluded. They have not been allowed to practice and it looks like the situation has come to a halt. Decision made, players sit. Best decision for all involved.

Well the 2009 schedule has been released and our rivalry with DB during the regular is no more. DB has been dropped and now the rivalry starts with Maryville as they are now on the schedule for the fifth week of the football season. I personally have always enjoyed the DB game both here and at J. Fred Stadium in Kingsport. Great fans, great football.

My first game this year. Crowd was off on both sides due to the rising gas prices, may make the new schedule lineups for next year a little more palatable at this rate. I took a lot of photos of both DB and Oak Ridge, including the OR Band. Missed seeing the DB band perform at halftime. Triple A and Pilot Oil says there is no problem if people would just quit panicking. Because of the media driven frenzy there has been a huge run of gas, which is in supply, however it will take them a while to get it back to the stations that had a low inventory and have now run out. Oak Ridge currently has a supply of gas and if the panic will subside there will be enough for all needs. Coach Stevens informed him just prior to the season start that he had too many coaches and would not need him so he is focusing on his college studies.

I have not heard anything about Bradley county's season so far. Anybody know how they look? Any injury report for Oak Ridge from Friday night with Fulton?

A couple of years ago OR played DB and the players cramped up all night long. IF the athletes would just listen to the trainers and hydrate (drink water, lots of it) prior to the game the cramps would be minimal. Time to close this thread and open one up about OR going to Bradley.
