  1. Both teams are very good and both very well coached. On the other hand, they should be good with 426 students playing single A. The girls have a very good chance to go undefeated in district play while the boys still have to go to Mitchell, who they beat by 1 at home.

Get in touch with me. Got some news, nothing big
  3. Did they beat Lake Co.? S Fulton will be a different team come tournament time. They will be good enough to win the district (although Greenfield is the best team right now and may be the best in the region). I don't know if they have played any game yet with all their players due to illness, injuries, suspensions, etc. Someone will have to beat SF to get to substate.
  4. The Red Devils will win this week, garanteed (Fri vs. a bad team). They will be there in the final 4 of region, garanteed. They have not played a game with their starting 5 due to sickness, injuries. Don't give up on them yet because they have potential to be very good.
  5. Let me tell you the biggest advantage a private school has over a public school..For us on the public school level, (outside of Memphis) we have to play with kids that live in our district. We don't have the opportunity to go out 40 miles and bus somebody in like the private schools do. If private schools played with only players in their town or district, then there would be no complaints. But how fair is it for 1 school to play with kids who only live in their district to play against another school who attracts (or recruits) athletes from anywhere in the vicinity. Also what I am tired of hearing is private school coaches telling us to shut up and work harder. I know of many coaches in West tennessee who outwork our private school counterparts yet do not get any credit because they are getting all they can out of their teams.
  6. Greg Ramsey at Peabody is/will be the real deal
  7. I think you have Norman Dale confused with someone else. NormanDale is a genius who would put Briarcrest in his back pocket.
  8. 15 A 1. South Fulton / Greenfield - Toss up; S. Fulton has talent and coaching and have been there. Greenfield is very deep and talented as well as being well coached but have not got it done yet. 3. Dresden - Will be improved 4. Gleason - Will compete hard but not as talented 16 A 1. Halls / Trenton - both very talented. Halls has top 4 scorers back from state tourny team. Trenton is very athletic and have size, experience. 3. Mitchell - who knows? most overall athletic ability and who knows who will be on team this year with transfer rules in Memphis. Could be most dominating team in all of region or middle of the pack. 4. Lake County - athletic, but still young; I'm sure there will be a transfer or two who could push them ahead. 5. Bradford - not much without Russell. Could be long year 6. Middle College - new team to district; no info
  9. Perry County, Trenton, Dyersburg, Greenfield, Obion, Westview, South Fulton, Bolton all looked good to me. Could be a LONG year here. Good luck on the season.
  10. I miss your insight. Hope you are having a great year. Keep in touch.
  11. Unless they changed an old rule, girls coaches could coach their own players in AAU but boys coaches can not. I find this crazy but legal.
  12. Coaches are evaluated by anyone who wants to pay $4. What other profession puts their work on display 30 + times a year in front of hundreds/thousands? About the officials...I don't have the answer but evaluations after a game would not interest me. Some questions: How many of you want to worry about filling out a survey after a game, win or lose? How fair would the evaluation be to an official after a close loss? Evaluating them is a must but when/how often should it be done? How many teams do you play that use refs from a different association? One idea I have is every district has a "team" of officials that are used all year for your district games. Not the same guy or same crew every game but a group of 2-3 from say 7. You would be much more familiar with them and they with you but that would create problems with what group your district got. Just a thought. Until we DO something the poor officiating will not go away.
