TO ALL YOU DEVOTED FOOTBALL FANS OUT THERE: Cloudland has suddenly cancled their JV game with Unaka. Don't know why, maybe they were afraid that they were to much under fire from Friday's masacure. I belive We have been reschedualed to play JV at Chucky Doak this evening.......

I don't think anyone will be beating Cloudland by 40, let alone 70, for a long, long while.

Hey coacht, ya'll have got a great board set up . Its real interesting. I was just looking around, and noticed Golf and tennis had no moderators...... Just wondering, what does a moderator do and what are the qualifacations?

If anyone wants to see a half-way decent game, come out to Orr Feild Monday at 6:00 and see Unaka vs. Cloudland. Only this time it will be JV against JV. Cloudland will play hard, as always. But I think our JV squad will have a little extra fire in them after Friday night. I know I will.

My only excuse for the 8th graders is that we were tired, and they are just as good as our JV is when it is fresh. Ya'll just got an exellent program up there.

Oaky, now that I have calmed down alittle bit I'll post again. lbubba, I'm not saying they didn't take it easy on us. For the most part, they did. It could have been a heck of alot worse. But, as much as I'd hate to admit it, 4life is right. Cloudland did have their varsity O on our JV defense. I know that for a fact because I am a JV OLB, and all I got out of it was a face-full of Chrisman and a handful of Benfeilds jersey..... then, he was gone.

No, it was actully very early in the game. I think it was the third play of the game

They played their varsity deep into the third. Then they finaly put their 2nd string in. We score, now its 60-13. Guess what Cloudland does next? They put their full varsity offence against our JV deffence!!! And run a 43 yard TD with Benfeild! Now could you please say thet they played the JV the whole 2nd half? They even kept their Varsity O line in into the 4th. The officaling in the game wasn't real sharp either. Thy missed many calls. Say, after we Guinns TD run, Someone on Cloudland( can't remember number) Cliped Pasqualli 60 yards behind the play!! That wasn't called. Many face maskes were not caled. Often, they would thow a flag, and then have a 2 minute conferance cause they didn't even know what in the heck they threw the flag for! In between quarters and they would go over there and laugh and joke with the Cloudland players! Now, I'm not saying that those are the resons we lost. We lost because they were just a better team than we are.... but watch out. What goes around comes around. Now Krich, wasn't it Covarrubias who got the conussion not Scott? I hope Covi is O.K.

Oaky, let me put in my say. First, I don't think ALL private schools recruit. Although I am sure one or two get away with it . Schols like Temp........ I won't even start on that. My one main argument is that the TSSAA was origanaly formed to see how good the schools athaletes were. To see what the schools have, not what they can afford. I'm not insenuating a thing about recruting. I'm talking about the coaches and of the sort. Public coaches have to live in the county to coach. But Privates can go and look for good coaching and help whenever they need to. An example: A few years ago, David-Lipscomb hired a world class softball player to help train their girls. Yes, hired. Now, I just don't think it is fair to the public schools who have to live with what they got.

Why dont' you just wait for the playoffs? Cloudland would most likely tear apart S-P. And Greenback???? Last, year, North Greene almost beat a better Greenback team in the first round. Now Boyd, that would be a fairly close game.

Hey, does anyone out there want to play Cloudland!????? I know there are alot of coaches on this board so if there are teams that will play them, give them a call. They try to get good teams: Appalachia was runner-up in Virgnia last year. J.J. Kelly was one of the final eight. They are just pidiful this year. Now, to answer this post, I think it will be Cloudland vs DCA in the final. As much as I hate to admit it, the West will most likley win this war.

Look at it this way ie3, 2A is more competative this year, but overall I think it is not as strong. Last year, your Huskies were not as good as they are this year, and still gave Greenback a good fight. If you play with that same tanacidy, you may very well win your first rond game...... Just think of it, three 1A teams winning in the first round, leaving just Greenback from 2A.

Thanks so much. They've been through a lot. North Greene would have to lose both to Cosby and Jellico, wouldn't they? North Greene holds the first tie-breaker, having defeated Unaka. You think that's all Cloudland will score? Krich, I thought the tie-breaker was the regular season record. Because if you look at it this way. If Cosby beat North Greene, this is the most likely end result in the conferance standings. Cloudland 4-0 Unaka 2-2 North Greene 2-2 Cosby 2-2 Jelico 0-4 Unaka, NG, and Cosby all have 2 and 2 conferance records. It would be hard to do the tie-breaker with who beat who in the conferance because it is all even. NG beat us, but lost to Cosby, while we beat Cosby. It all equals out even, don't it? Now to all the North Greene faithful, this is just a " what if?" situation.

What is with you and Cloudland!? You even said you respected East TN teams on another post. A little bit of trivia: Sccience Hill Scores the winning score with under 1:00 to go. Final SH-9 Elizabethton-7. Just last week, Sullivan East beat Elizabethton 13-12. Earlier this season, Cloudland killed Sullivan East........see a conection?

You have got a good point there. I have never realy thought of that. Most of those seniors will never get to play a game of football again after that last Friday night. How would the rest of you feel if you were in the seniors shoes?

They are. Only Pirates I know of in the state are South Pittsburg and Wasburn. Cloudland Highlanders vs. Science Hill Hilltoppers, that would be another dream match, for this year anyway.

Chad Lewis finised third in the A/AA region 1 tournament to qualify for the state tournament. This is a great feat considering this is the Unaka golf teams first year of existance. Good luck Chad! Make us proud. Go Rangers!

I am from Unaka (1A) and was wondering how the 2A playoff picture was shaping up. Now I'm pretty sure that Greenback will be 1st, but I am in the dark with everyone else. Who will be second, third, and forth? CAK, Midway, Coalfield, Onieda, how will it all shape up?

I will try to set the record straight for everyone, espicilly you 4life. When you look at it now, Cloudland does have a weak schedual. But when it was made... well lets put it this way: They have to play us (Unaka), North Greene, Cosby, and Jelico. Now Jelico was a good team last year. They also play Cherokee and Sullivan East, both schools are 4A, At least 8 times bigger than Cloudland(attendence about 220). Also on the list is J. J. Kelly VA one of the last eight teams left last year. And Appalachia VA, the state runner-up last year. Rye Cove VA used to be decent, but not this year. The last one is Hampton, one of the greatest rivalries in the state, to me. They are a good team as well. Now, you can't say that Cloudland plays nobody. Granted, they dont have to play top 10 teams in their region either. And to me, Mark Byrd shouldn't even be talked about in this post, since it is on RB's not running QB's, but still he is a good player.

Thanks, I think you will hear of Guinn in the future. And sorry if you thought I was talking of you about bashing east TN schools. I wish every one on this board was as supportive as you are.

RBC, I wish I know who he was so he could be banished from Stony Creek too.

I have no doubt that what you say about Wooden is true. I have even heard of him in my Northeast Tennessee hole. He sounds great. But look east for a second, please. Cloudland's Dakota Benfeild is a great back. He has been proven by three and a half years of playing for the 'Landers. And I am a bit biased here, but Charles Guinn of Unaka is having a great year. Just a sophmore, he is already carrying most of the load for the Rangers. He still has alot to learn, but he has already been selected 1A player of the week a few weeks back. Now please, I know 99% of you are respectable people who will support kids no matter where they go to school, but some of you will bash and letdown east TN schools and players every chance you get . If you choose to do that ( and I know some of you will) start another thred so we don't have to look at it.

The Rangers roled into Cosby last night running on all eight. This win almost asuress Unaka a spot in the 1A play-offs. Don't have the stats, but Cody Hurly had (Krich, correct me here) two touchdowns and one interception on defence and Brandon Irick threw one TD, ran for a fair amont of yards, and caught one interception. Charles Guinn had a "down" night as he was hurt midway throgh the game. Unaka's next game will be homecoming, against Oakdale, on Friday at Goddard Field at 7:30. Everyone is welcome.
