I can count on my hands how many games that I have ever seen Oakland play, so I am obviously not an avid Oakland fan nor do I know a whole lot about their program. I have actually seen just as many Siegel games that I have Oakland games. All that I am trying to figure out is how this guy could possibly get the Siegel job and not one person has been able to give me a logical answer. So I guess I can ask you...Siegel has some of the best talent around, why would you not get a GOOD proven coach and try to get these guys a ring??

A "working philosophy" brings home gold(or even silver for that matter) balls from the murphy center and as far as I know Siegel has neither of these in boys basketball. So maybe it is time to get a coach with a philosophy that can bring home the hardware because the talent is there, the coaching is not....

Siegel I'm not from Rutherford County nor do I know how the system works as far as hiring their coaches. I'm not sure how you could hire an unproven coach like this guy to lead the team with obviously the most individual talent in the county. This team has the talent to go a long ways, BUT, I promise you he will end up being their downfall..........I'm glad to see that he does all these good things for the student athletes at Siegel, BUT AGAIN, being a good person does not mean that you are a good coach....All that I am saying is that Siegel is one of the top tier teams in the mid-state and their players deserve a top tier coach, not just a good guy....

Siegel/Oakland I don't really have a connection to either school, but went to the game to see a good high school basketball game. I thought that it was a very evenly officiated game. Here is what I learned: Siegel has a lot of talent on the floor but the Chris Farley look alike sitting on the bench is a TERRIBLE COACH. #34 can jump out of the gym but can't hit a free throw for nothing, so why have him on the floor the last 2 minutes?(poor coaching) #35 could score 30 if they would just get him the ball more. Overall they shot the ball great as a team(other than free throws), were pretty quick and had a lot of depth. I'm not sure if Oakland just had a bad night shooting or just arent a very good shooting team. They had a hard time rebounding (giving up a little size to Siegel) and they have no depth. However, they were in the game to the end thanks to a good 4th quarter effort and great coaching. I don't think anyone has to worry about Siegel winning state as long as Chris Farley is sitting on the bench. I would like to see what Siegel could do with Oakland's coach.......just my two cents

The paper says DCA won 7-1. On here it says Ezell won 7-1..........Can someone tell me which one is right?

Well Adamsville use to have one of the nicer 1a fields back around 96 and 97 but it seemed like every year we went down there it kept gettin worse and worse.Still had a great environment to play in though. BGA CPA and Goodpasture all have nice fields.

WINNER......... After reading your post, i get the feeling that you are a big fan of your head boys b ball coach. teaching "self discipline", REQUIRING offseason workouts, etc......If i do remember correctly, please someone on this board correct me if im wrong, but i know im not wrong so dont bother, but this coach you are describing let a player do the EXACT same thing back in 1998..............Im not saying there is anything wrong with what they did. Sometimes you make bad decisions and im glad they gave them a 2nd chance seeing as how they are 17 and 18 year olds, but before giving examples of how your coach has all these rules and regulations, realize he is guilty of the EXACT same thing.

I remember another coach that people on here have a lot of respect for, letting someone come and join the team halfway through the season. I agree with whoever said they are still kids in high school. Let em play. If this would have happened to your school, you probably would have been the first one saying, let them play.

Might i remind you that they had actually coaching in '98. Same thing in '99.

how can you say that boyd is OBVIOUSLY better than ezell right now......what was it 42-15? i saw a totally different cpa team in the championship than i did against ezell...cpa played flawless against ezell...just played good enough to win against boyd.... i do not think boyd is anywhere near the team that cpa is, the score was a lot closer than it should have been due to a bad game from cpa...i hear a lot of ifs coming from boyd and i was thinking that IF boyd was in our region that would have finished 3rd........I agree with Nate's top 5 [Edited by jc147 on 12-9-02 12:38P]

It sounds like to me that Cloudland has the same problem that they did last year......they still can't stop the pass.I dunno if it is against the laws or something up there on roan mountain but down here teams can throw the ball, and until they figure that out....they are not going to beat any good teams that have a smart qb who can throw the ball well, it has happened the past 2 years to them....so quit accusing other schools of recruiting...and learn how to stop the pass and you just might win...... i thought it was chris snoddy.......mighta been a typo, but i totally agree......Extremely nice guy, and one heck of a trainer....been around athletic training @ Baptist for a long time.....was our trainer at ezell for a few years.

yea, let me tell ya.......those powerhouses they have been playing havent been doin a very good job of stopping them.
