Seriously I think there will be some room in front. It is one of the closest places to the stadium and across the street from parking. The atmosphere is better when both teams are there. Smyrna has the back part reserved.

my experience is even pep rallys are tough this time of year 15 weeks in a row is a lot of pep rally's the bonfire is great! the community comes out not just the kids and with the cheerleaders and band it is a huge event and the final touch before game day. and dont be offended when the throw the eagle on the fire they did the same with a raptor last year. purely symbolism /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

#62 is as tough as they come he gave us absolute fits. he is not big but he is quick and very strong for his size.

hard to believe but in all classes including div II there are 322 teams and only 7 will be crowned champions. 315 other teams that suited up in august would give almost anything to be in these teams place. don't take it for granted for one minute either team-- enjoy every second of the week before and the game itself. the true joy is in the journey. somone noted earlier this was a lot like last year with smyrna now playing the part of ravenwood as defending champ and Indy being the upstart. well there is one miscalculation there, ravenwood returned to defend without their all everything qb tc jennings smyrna retruns to defend with ------ the sam qb that played last year and going back to middle school has lost ------ one post season game in his career. sonny hs play off record 11 and 1 sonny post season middle school thru hs 13 and 1 Finally saw some film on Indy today and it was about what I expected they spread you out and try a lot of seam routes and wheels and throw in pettigrew running once they get you spread out. They love screens of every type. It will be a challenge to get it all stopped.

I have no 'indictment" of lc and their previous players are irrelevant to the conversation. Lc used to dress the same act the same and even the falcons on the back was the same. their biggest advantage is their team approach and how they came at you ion waves for 48 minutes. That is no longer the case anymore.

it sure did hit a nerve anybody that talks about purposely injuring a hs kid is way way out of line. our qb got hurt by a lineman rolling up on his left leg after a short pass and the lineman made sure to take lets say an exagerated roll, on purpose? who knows but with statements like this it sure makes you wonder. I have made the point people expect miracles every year and that is a burden but in my opinion as far as teams with the ability to win the state championship lc is not in that hunt at all and to expect a each year is unrealsitic. I will say this I have been around for a long time and seen lots of lc teams and there is no question the team discipline and unity that used to be their calling card and I believe had a lot to do with their success is no longer evident.

a few notes: 1. QB Sonny Grays 3 year record in playoff/chamionship games 11 wins and one loss. He also was qb for Smyrna middle when they won the mid state championship and were un defeated. His team never lost a game when he was qb at UNA during his youth league days. He is a kid used to wining 2. Smyrnas defense is giving up 9.5 points a game and held cookeville and wilson central scoreless after the half. lincon county did not cross mid field till the score was 36 to 2 and bearden was held scoreless for 3 qtrs. The Smyrna defense is as much a part of why Smyrna is here as anything else. 3. rod wilks going back to the last 3 playoff games of 2006 has 30 tds. He has scored on receptions,interceptions,punt returns and kick off returns. 4. Smyrnas kicker has made all of his PATS and both his field goals in the last 2 games and more importantly he has hit all of them very well. He was kicking the ball great at practice off the artificial surface at Vandy. 5. No one realizes what Smyrna had to over come to get here this year. Smyrna lost 3 of there 4 starting line backers all seniors. Josh Day the bcbs bowl defensive mvp got hurt during the pre season and never played. Smyrna also lost Carr and Craig. Smyrna now plays 2 and some times 3 sophmors and a freshman at LB. 6. Smyrna starts 2 freshman #22 Bryson at tb ( nearly 1200 yards and 11 tds) everyone knows about but they also start a freshman mlb #38 Deon Meadows who many do not realize even around Smyrna is even at around 200 pounds and 6 ft tall probalby the fastest player on the team. 7. Smyrna has not lost a game away from home since 2005 12 wins and no loses. For all Smyrna fans there will be a bonfire and pep rally at the school this friday night at 7 pm for the entire commuinity. Thanks I was able to hook it to my big screen and slow the play and stop it and zoom in left foot clearly on the line right foot 3 inches out however it was a bang bang play at full speed and by his right foot being so far out there is no way it would be called in by the official.

I think you may be suprised especially Smyrna's defensive line. smyrna has a lot more than wilks, cookeville schemed to take him out and bryson had 178 yards and 3 tds the main thing is this is each teams 15th game both have seen enough film on each other to know what to expect the question is who can execute the plan?

a few notes from an outsider smyrna sent maryvile a player a couple years ago (childs) his dad and him both told me what a great man and class guy coach quarrels is. I met him at the mr football banquet this week and realyed this info to him. He thanked me and within a minute he turned the conversation away from himself and wanted to talk about smyrna and what a great run they are having. He reminds me a lot of Joel Osteen As for Maplewood I was suprised they didn't make it last year. Smyrna scrimmaged them last year and they absolutely killed us ( now as a side note Smyrna puts less emphasis on winning scrimmages than any team I know) Their backs were fast and their team speed was amazing. They were for real make no mistake. I think Maryville will win due to most reasons all ready noted on here but ------ this will not be an easy game by any means. Maplewood will be like Melrose but better coached. As for Maplewoods coaching staff well kudos to them for sticking with a metro school and all the problems thaty go with it. good luck to both teams

we can only hope wilks sees some single coverage. if he is single covered sonny will throw him the ball. these 2 have a special bond since this will be there 60th football game together going back to middle school. sometimes all sonny has to do is give rod a look and rod knows what sonny is seeing and where to go.sonny has the option to audible at the line based on coverages and other keys he has been coached to check. so basically any time you see rod covered one on one sit up and watch the match up because the ball is coming. my bet is they do what everyone else has done and double him and some teams have even cheated a safety over. look for 2 smyrna players to have a big game saturday night #22 jeremiah bryson - freshman tb nearly 1200 yards and 11 tds # 21 Jonah Hendricks - has really come on in the playoff smyrnas defense will have as much team speed as any Indy has seen and they will play straight man to man with bump coverage at the line.

I saw some Independence players at the awards deal today I didn't see a real preppy in the bunch ( that is always the perception if you are from anywhere in Williamson county) as a matter of fact peddigrew looked like he would be right at home riding to the game on Smyrnas bus ( that is a compliment by the way). what type dbs does Independence have? any shut down corners that can go one on one with Rod? going from millington and the wing t to smyrnas spread run then throw will certainly a change up.

AS someone who was fortunate enough to attend this event let me just say wow! The Titans did an absolute wondeful job putting this on and it was 1st class all the way. The pre awards area for the state football finalist allowing all the media access to the players and coaches was great. It was also good to see players from teams that will play each other saturday sitting one table away from each other. I even got a chance to talk with Independence about their Millington game last week. I got to talk with a lot of coaches including coach Quarrels who seems like one of the finest people you could ever meet. Smyrna had a player (childs) transfer up to Maryville for his senior year and his dad told me what a class man coach Quarrels was. For a hs football fan it was like going to mecca!! And congrats rod wilks way to represent Smyrna and region4 5a. As for all the post concerning who got robbed I understand, after sitting there for each group of players and listening to the stats for each one I was like -- wow I would hate to have to pick they are all very good. Sometimes the player with the stat won sometime they didn't. I will say this it is like watching cliff diving - you set there and watch the 1st one and go WOW he was good!, then you watch the second one and go WOW he was good!, then the third and WOW he was good, after a short time you finally realize they were ALL very good and if the weren't they wouldn't have been there!
