Holy Cow 7-3 at the half. Answers my question about playing such a weak schedule. I would rather be 7-3 and actually played soneone during the regular season.

I have read a few comments which leads me to wonder. Do you think it is better to be a 10-0 team with weak regular season teams or an 8-2 team that has played a tough schedule. I am smart enough to know the regular season and W-L record doesn't mean anything if you have the gold ball at the end of the playoffs.

I count four undefeated teams South Doyle Oak Ridge Owls ( lol I have to learn how to spell one day) Rhea County No doubt this will be the best game in the state next Friday night. Whoever wins wil have had a tough row to hoe cause most likely they will face another undefeated team the very next week. If South Doyle wins into the semis which I personally think they will, there will be another un defeated team waiting. What if Hillsboro makes it to the Championship game. I am just curious does anyone know if anyone has ever had to play 4 undefeated teams to win the state title.

I wasn't able to make it to the game and had limited radio reception. I caught the score at halftime. The best way I can describe my thoughts was concerned but confident. The very next thing I was able to hear was that OR gets called for holding which led to a 3rd and 15 that could in my mind have led to SD taking the lead if OR doesn't get the first down. Then WHAM BAM OR cranks it up and throws a TD. Now that's what I mean when I say ROLL CATS ROLL !!!!!!!

Picked the winner of every game .... Except two out of three anderson county teams. AC looses a coin toss that I really thought would go their way and Clinton looses a game to a 5-5 team. Well that's the reason they take the time to play the game. AC and Clinton leaves a little premature. I always hate it for the seniors when a team that should be playing next week ends up instead turning in their equipment. I hope they just keep their heads high and take the time to really enjoy the good times they had during the season. I will be 50 this year and played on a 6-5 team but to this day remember Friday nights under the lights as some of the very best times I have ever had.

Roll Wildcats Roll. I hope the Cats are able to get on the board early and often. A team that can throw the ball as good as I have heard SD can are coming into a game with nothing to loose have to be taken seriously. After their game last Friday the only thing they had left to do was turn in their pads, now here they are a week later In the playoffs they have to be thinking beating OR is possible. There are several great places to play. I guess I was referring to places, geographical locations that have a lot of personality in and of themselves. I have been to Blankenship when there wasn't another person there and the place seems to talk to you. And I'll be happy to see all those nice young men in their clean white coats.... ( not a football reference just dry... very dry attempt at humor. But seriously how many places have the personality that Blankenship field has for their players and fans.

Pltayoff time is so exciting. The atmosphere at the Ship cannot be beat anywhere. I am sure there are better fields, better stands but there is no better place than Blankenship Field to experience everything that makes high school football great. Roll Wildcats Roll

Owls or Rhea Co. ?

It may be a little premature for this post but I have learned to deal with being premature before. I just think about my mother-in-law...naked!! Come playoff time does a good team start putting in new plays and schemes or do you go full tilt back to the basics, technique and responsibilities. Is OR good enough to be predictable? With the fact that most likely in the third round OR will be facing another team that hasn't lost a game, can they really afford to ignore that fact until the game is only 6 days and really 3 practices away? Does anyone have any insight into the Owls and Rhea Co. game should that game happen. I am an OR fan not a player or coach so I can afford to look ahead. Lastly does it bother any one but me that OR doesn't have to beat Murville to win a state championship?

Again since the topic of past players being at the game I was curious about the years 2002-2003 2003-2004, 2004-2005. Those were the Cory Booker and spencer Gulmire years. Does anyone agree with me that Oak Ridge should have played in the state championship game all three of those years? If not all three the last two for sure. They made it there in 2005 as any real fan knows.I am in no way wanting to start a coach bashing conversation. I just am wondering if any one agrees Riverdale ended the run both of those years we didn't go. I will never forget the snow storm of the 03-04 school year. The end of that game was without doubt one of the most exciting high school football I remember ever seeing. And the state championship game was so close and the rain kinda shut down the passing game I have always wondered if the had put the Coffee kid in at QB if things might have turned out different. That is certainly not a knock on the Gulmire QB he had a great year but with the passing game not in play they pretty much shut Spencer down with that hoss linebacker they had. I think with Coffee in at QB There would have been two dangerous ball carriers with access to the ball if that might have been enough. Oh well we will never know will we lol. Since some middle school conversation broke out I was wondering about Jefferson. Do they still have the same coaching staff they had 2 years ago? I guess I am asking about school year 2011-2012.

Just trying to find out what the expecations are in cambell county this year. I noticed they have won their first two games by a large margin.Who are the playmakers on the team. I have a friend that lives here but is from there. Any info would be appreciated.

Are you kiddin? That was a huge win for Clinton. Oh wait they didn't win did they? I have never seen a happier bunch to Almost win a game. Show me a good looser and I will show you a looser. Oak Ridge came out un- motivated and Clinton probably had the game of their lives. The calle were terrible aganist the home team. I dont really understand that but there were some very questionable calls. I did however loose some confidence in the Cats. Lets hope this was their bad game for this season. If they had played like they did tonight aganist a decent team the W could have easily been a L. The Stone Kid needs to get out of Clinton. If had some help he could lead a team with a coach to some post season play.

I havent posted in a while, so hello. I have however been keeping an eye on the board. I hope Heritage plays a good game it takes a lot of commitment from all these young men no matter who they play for to work out all winter, go through spring practice and report to two a days in the hottest days of the year. then continue to get out here in this heat day after day giving everything they have for no other reason than the love of the game. I am not trying to say I told you so or maybe I am cause of all the crap I took last year from some of my fellow OR fans wearing their rose colored glasses. And then there were the ones who just didnt like the head coach and loved the fact OR was loosing in hopes of getting a new coach. I happen to like Stevens and think he was the right man for the job. This year and next will make my point for me. Oak Ridge is looking pretty good so far. They are making my predictions from august of last year look pretty good too. people thought I hadlost my mind when I suggested they would go 6-4 and could go 5-5 last year. I also said the guys that beat us better enjoy it. My prediction was this year would be completly different. I said they would go possibly 9-1 or 8-2 regular season and advance 2-3 games in the play-offs they may get lucky and make it to the big dance in 07 Just for the record Stevens and his staff will have a very talented group in middle TN in 08 with or without any luck. All you guys have lost your minds. Last year was the exception. This year it's back to the rule. Once again the region goes through OR.

Just wanting to get this on here for reference later on. As I stated last year Irby is the kind of QB Or needs he has a strong arm and can and will stand in there and deliver the ball. He looked a little questionable last year in a couple games but I think these kids mature a lot between their soph and junior year. Although a passing league is just that.. it doesnt really mean much as far as the season goes. Qbs rarely have 3 seconds to sit in the pocket with the only thing on their mind is throwing the ball. We will see when he has the big uglies runnin in to smash him in the mouth. Personally I think he may prove to be one of the best QBs to come through OR. Time will tell. After last year as an OR fan I will take a passing league win or two or anything else positive as an improvement and be happy about it. Early season prediction. OR makes the playoffs and finishes 1 or 2 in the region. They will win some playoff games and will be back in the semis in 87 and back at the boro in 88.

I was dismal 10-6 last week SC 21 OHS 17 I guess we will see, I am not real confident with this pick. I have seen the owls but not the bears. SC has a passing game and that seems to be an OHS weakness. Homefield advantage but neutral refs. should be a very good game.

Its tough to go home again. Its crazy that anyone would suggest giving up. My team went 5-5 but there is always next year and the year after that. I am sure most DB faithful dont and won't ever give up. I have always respected DB and always will. There are reasons for that and to suggest giving up is not one of them.

Hats off to The Govs. Nice Job. Hey pass the salt, will boiling water make it easier to get the feathers off. I was 10-6 on my 1st round games. several upsets. Two 6-4 teams take out two un-defeated teams. Another 6-4 team beats a 8-2 team. There is also a 5-5 regular season record team playing next week as well. Very special night for those young men.

Ha Ha Don't worry amigo I am still here. Just had to go pick up my daughters. and get the black feathers out of my teeth. 3 outa four aint bad. Lot of upsets tonight in 5a across the state. Hey thats why the play the game. Ravenwood wins that was an upset. Wb over Db ..upset. I thought bearden might take out FHS too. Do you think I am gonna run out and commit harry carry because I was wrong. I am not wrong very often so I really dont mind admitting it when it happens. I picked DB to win it all too.... Maybe a noose a strong limb and a chair might be in my future. I will let you in on a little secret I know you look up to me but I am human I pull my britches up over my hind end just like you do. ha ha
