  1. It's kinda nice when you have the presence fo mind to stay on track and take care of this past Friday's business, while knowing all along that the match-up you really wanted was the one you Cyclones earned for this Friday. Sullivan East. Knowing that is what the Cherokee game was all about (getting back to East) was the carrot that hung out there for the Betsy boys to get after. That carrot from up in Bluff City. Well, now you are where you wanted to get. To avenge two unexpected loses to a very good East team. Nice little piece of motivation. There should be no problem being right for this game. Go to work, this is business. thumb PS Be sure to have some fun too!!
  2. Think Cherokee has played 3 teams with above .500 wins. Also 3 teams with only one win each. Betsy has played 5 with .500 or better and the worse team on the schedule had won 3 games. It's like you said though, it's all on the field Friday between two pretty evenly matched teams. Different, but well matched. Just my little opionion. Disclaimer: facts and figures may not be correct. Please feel free to correct me.
  3. The IMAC will be swept by the MT. Lakes Conference with the exception of Greeneville upsetting Sullivan East. TN. High beats Morristown West Elizabethton beats Cherokee Sullivan South beats Morristown East Greeneville upsets Sullivan East Only Friday night at about 10P will anyone know for sure.
  4. Burrrrrrrr, I know that Cherokee won the IMAC, but I hadn't heard that they were favored to win this match-up. I do know that the MT. Lakes tore into the IMAC this year which was a reversal from last year's results. Being that the IMAC did not fair too well against outside the conference teams, I feel this game is against two totally different styled teams, but teams that should be pretty evenly matched when put head to head. A win by either should be no surprise, even if it takes 4 overtimes, which I seriously doubt. If Elizabethton can slow them down between the tackles, they have the game. Otherwise, it will be a long night for the Cyclones. I'll go with Nave to cover that territory in the middle, counting on the interior defensive line to keep people off of him. That is a must for a Cyclone victory. Cyclones 23-21 Should be the best game in the area to watch this Friday night.
  5. Somebody go fetch the Unaka posters from the basketball forum. Heck, this isn't any fun!
  6. 1 Elizabethton 2 TN High 3 Johnson Co 4 S. South 5 S. Central 6 D. Boone 7 S. North 8 Unicoi Anybody's guess except the top two. 3 & 4 will be a battleground.
  7. THIS IS FINAL BURRRRRR TN High vs. East winner gets first, loser second third goes to South fourth goes to Elizabethton (South and Betsy both are 4-3 in conference. South gets the tie-breaker with an earlier win over the Cyclones) Johnson Co. is out. Their conference record is 3-4. again, final standings and they were set before these last games.
  8. Well, I thought it would be close in the first half, but Think I said 31-24 Cyclones What we got was 16-7 Cyclones and it was tied 7-7 at the break. Not exactly what the faithful were looking for. No execution. Way too many breakdowns. Good "pick me up" Smith. Should have seen more time, but thanks for the effort. Betsy at Cherokee might mean trouble for the Cylcones.
  9. The Scout says, look out in the first half. Cyclones won't pull away until the second in a closer than expected game. Unicoi has been waiting on this game for 3-4 weeks. It is like a playoff game to them. Cyclones 31-24
  10. Hope you do better in '05, but there are a few front runners and that doesn't include the Cougars. Maybe '07 might help out, but -05 &-06 are going to be black & orange in the MLC. It is spelled CYCLONES. Good luck in your quest and hopefully a win this year will bring back a bit of pride in Blountville but don't count on it. Boone 28-14 Truthfully, good luck. You guys need it.
  11. Enjoy THS, cause the party is over after this year. Same for East. Good luck to both Friday night and I hope everyone comes out in one piece.
  12. You Patties aren't going to be very happy late Friday night. Sorry.
  13. Just how tough is Betsy? Unicoi is looking to upset the Cyclones. Can it happen? Is Betsy's defense ready for the post-season? Can the offense take care of the ball? Is there a communication break-down in the Betsy camp? What's your take?
  14. Good point Dog. No height in the recievers, but speed and "shiftyness" is abundant. Now on to the Scout's prediction. In an upset, Central got you on that one. Cyclones 24-14 (Central gets shut out in the second half)
  15. Lander33, Jeffers is having a nice 2nd half of the season. Good for the Cyclones, but you must me forgeting about Eads at East. Smith, the second stringer, has the looks of Eads, but needs to grow a bit. Eads leads the conference by far and is also an excellant runner, much like Smith. Smith's day will come, until then, on with Jeffers. How ever you get it done, GO CYCLONES!! CONGRADULATIONS TO THE JV-UNDEFEATED!! and led by Smith, the QB and safety. He had one heck of a season, but was proped up by Shavers, Harmon, Hutchins, Taylor, Z. Potter, T. Potter, Turley, Burke, man, you could go on and on about sophmore players, but there isn't enough room. They'll leave a mark before they are out of the Black & Orange. Great season guys! This is kinda like a group you Landers had two years ago, Lander, but with more athletes. Keep an eye on them and good luck to you guys. thumb
  16. Elizabethton has a shot to be in the race (play-offs) and the Cougars are trying to save face. What have you got?
  17. Getting a bit personal Lander. I know the talk has been going on because I know them, but nothing is in concrete and won't be for awhile as far as #8's move goes. For now, that's a dead issue and should be left that way. We are on here to talk football. Cyclone football and I'm at 17-14 Betsy. And you "wish" you could have played the Cyclones last year. Well give us a call and I'm sure they will let you pick the years you want to play. Go Cyclones, one at a time! thumb
  18. Burrr, You need to stay with Fulton. Although it will be a very physically tough game, the Cyclones have proven every week that they will bend but will not break on the defensive side. Don't know if the Cyclones #7 can stay somewhat mistake free, but if you can't run at QB you had better be able to get the passes of a bit quicker against the Longhorns. You could end up with a horn in your side. Kinda like the running of the bulls in Spain. We have seen that there is a very capable back up to 7, in #8, so get it going Jeffers. Cyclones 17-14
  19. I have to say this morning that Jeffers had his best game. As he said in the Press this morning, "In the first qtr. I was a nervous. The second qtr. I kind of calmed down and got used to the game." You have to be fortunate to have coaches that stay with you no matter what. Big #7 did have a much better game and made better decisions. Good luck next week. He will need to deliver this way to season's end and he will gain some "mo" in the non-existant QB race. 12-17-0 187 yrds. Good job, but a little better play calling would have helped him thru the entire season. Still with you #8.
  20. you did some homework. Well, what's the answer now? I kinda think like some of you non-creekers. I want to see some numbers.
  21. That was a mouthful Truth, but I agree, as do many others. Guess the fans and the coaches are watching different games. Dunno??
  22. Wrong on that one Burrrrr. Patriots will not be able to stand up to the Vikes. No doubt about that and I've seen them both. And yes, they all get better as the season goes.
