  1. YES IT IS ALRIGHT FOR STUDENTS TO HECKLE PLAYERS. IT'S PART OF THE GAME AND LIFE OF GYM'S. AS A STUDENT I ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO GOING TO GAMES TO HECKLE THE OTHER TEAM JUST TO SEE IF I COULD GET IN THEIR DOME PIECE OR GET SO FAR AS TO GET A REACTION. I BELIEVE THE FUNNIEST TIME WAS WHEN WE GOT THE GREENEVILLE WATER GIRL SO FIRED UP THAT SHE CAME UP INTO THE STANDS TO FIND 30 OF US STANDING AND YELLING AT HER EVEN MORE. AWWW THE MEMORIES. I THINK THEIR IS A POINT THAT YOU MUST NOT CROSS BUT ASLONG AS ONE DOESN'T CROSS THAT LINE THEN IT IS ALRIGHT.
  2. I would like to question the person/group that was in charge of scheduling the games, I realize they were trying to cut down on days to travel up to kingsport, but honestly who has 2 teams play back to back games? I've never seen a tournament set up this way. If the travel was their reason for having Daniel Boone and Jeff. Co. play 2 games on a day then why not have them alternate games so they can have a chance to relax and hey get something to eat? just a suggestion to those in charge of scheduling.
  3. can't wait for the 2005 season to begin. even though i've graduated i will keep in touch especially with my beloved patriots from jeff. co. On the basketball topic, i think baseball players are the best at bein rowdy toward the other teams. A lot of baseball players enjoy goin to games and bein loud and crazy. I enjoy watching basketball and football, but baseball is my love. can't wait for the 2005 season to start in february for H.S., but my season begins Jan. 29.
  4. Sounds like the UTC signee had another great game. She is impressive to watch. Also excited to hear Lyke had another great shooting night. Those 2 complement each other well. Actually the entire rotation complements each other well b/c you can't really double someone b/c the open girl will burn you. Glad to hear that the Lady Pats won and I hope that Sinard can make a quick recovery from an injury that doesn't sound too bad, but I know that Damika can step in and fill the 2 gaurd slot just fine. Glad to hear the Tish is back and ready to prepare for Greeneville. Sounds like the Lady Pats are off to another hot start and can keep it going tuesday evening as they play their toughest game probably of the year w/ having to travel to G-ville and everyone knows that Greeneville doesn't get beat very often up there. Good luck Lady Pats and keep me informed DZ and Raiderray.
  5. I think that all 3 programs are probably the best 3 in the area by far. I'm going to be partial to Jeff. Co. b/c I'm an alum, but in either Jeff. Co., West, or Greeneville you can't go wrong with girls basketball. All three have great coaches who respect one another especially Greeneville and Jeff Co.'s coaching staffs. PTC I'm sure Coach Potts would love to have your daughter become a Lady Patriot and Jeff. Co. is a great school. You might just want to check your options, but if you are dead set on Morristown West then good luck and we'll see you probably 3 times a year.
  6. I don't know who #14 is for DB, but man that kid was lights out in the 2nd half of the central game tuesday night. But the real reason I'm writing is to ask why does the coach t schedule have DB playin home games at Viking Hall and App. State? Are y'all remodeling your gym or is this just a joke?
  7. I know that it's kinda early to start talking about the showdown between these two Region 1 powerhouses in women's basketball, but it truely is the biggest game in east tn at this point in time. All 4 of last year's meetings were classics especially the last 2 at Morristown East. If this game is anything like last year's playoff games it will be the game of the week across the entire state. I hope that game is kept clean and that fans don't get too bad, but I'm sure there will be some words exchange between these two fierce rivals. I know both student sections last year had police officers around them to prevent anymore than just words exchange. Just wanted to hear some people's opinions of the upcoming game.
  8. Well the Karns game was a tale of two halves. JC did whatever they wanted in the first half against Karns holding them to 4 points in the first quarter and I believe they scored just 13 in the entire first half. The second half Karns came out and just seemed to want it more than Jeff Co. I give Karns credit it was very easy for those ladies to just roll over and take a beating but instead they came out fired up and wanted to prove that they just had a bad half. With the big game against greeneville in 2 weeks, Potts will have his girls ready for the lady green devils. They will need to play an entire game against this tough rival. In the first half jeff co's fab 5 played great basketball with Huff being the star inside. She made several great catches over defenders and had the soft touch to lay it in. Lyke seems to be well on her way to another great shooting year. Ashley Kyle played tough d and shot the ball well. Sinard ran the offense well. The entire team was patient and looked smooth. In the 2nd half, Karns came out and put high intense pressure on the ball and got several 5 second calls but the lead was too much and the Lady Patriots got back on track in the 4th quarter and made their free throw to pull away comfortably. I look forward to the matchup against Farragut friday afternoon with the lady patriots coming out to prove that they can play 4 quarters of great basketball. Good Luck Lady Patriots.
  9. OMG A JEFF CO TOPIC THAT SECOND GUESSES A COACH OR COMPLAINS ABOUT THE COACH! WHAT A SURPRISE! I don't know too many coaches out there who pick the worst team in their opinion on purpose so they can lose. I mean most coaches want to win and keep their jobs. I think the people that are getting on here and talking about how Coach Sinard should have done this and shouldn't have done that are just getting their feathers ruffled because, probably for the first time, their "political" pull inside the athletic community has been denied and they are realizing that lil bobby isn't as great as you thought he was. I'm not saying that the players that Sinard picked are better overall players than the ones he cut, but obviously in his mind the players he kept this year and last year were the ones he felt were not going to quit on him, be trouble makers at the school, or will be coachable and play inside of his system. I do believe the player who got cut instead of Mr. Holt also threw a hissy fit and quit in the middle of a game the previous year so maybe that had something to do with it. Everyone wants to win and it is very possible that Sinard decided that he was going to sacrifice having a down year this year for having a great year in a couple of years. I'm sorry that the seniors this year have to go through this kind of year, but those things happen. All this talent that Pip keeps talking about is great pick-up game talent, but they aren't running an offense and you hardly see tough d played in those type of games. Last year was probably Jeff. Co.'s shot at going deep into TSSAA playoffs, but they couldn't beat upper east tn, but then again no one in the IMAC beat the big 7 or 9 or whatever they are. Everyone knows that region 1 basketball belongs to Science Hill or Tennessee High those are the 2 schools with the most talent. Everyone knows that Jeff Co. football is THE sport at JC so until you have kids specializing on basketball then you are going to have an average team every year.
  10. How bout some Big and Rich-Save a Horse(Ride a Cowboy), AC/DC-Thunderstruck, Eminem-Just Lose It, the new snoop dogg song, Switchfoot-Meant to Live, and the teenage muntant ninja turtle theme song just a thought.
  11. Jeff. Co has 3 freshman dressing on varsity this year that will continue to improve as the year goes along. Jeff Co has a great starting 5 so unless some injuries occur or disciplinary actions happen(all if's) I wouldn't see these 3 girls starting but they will play throughout the year. The three freshman are Katisha Mattison, Kelsey Elliott, and Laura Potts. All three girls are great athletes and have a good understanding of the game. All three of these girls are in the 5'6 to 5'8 range. As the season goes along the 3 girls will adapt to the pace of play and skill level of their opponents. Mattison-great leaper, quick, the ability to play both the forward and gaurd positions, and was a great scorer at the middle school level. If Mattison will play inside of Pott's system she will be a great player and I would look for her to be a go to player in the up coming years. Elliott-smart, good vision, good 3 point shooter, hard worker, plays good d, boxes out really well. Elliott lacks confidence in her shot after a couple misses, if she can get past that she'll be a great scorer and weapon to Coach Potts. Elliott plays all 3 gaurd posistions. Potts-quick, smart, plays extremely hard, plays, tough d, plays the gaurd position, sees the floor well, and looks to get everyone involved. Haven't gotten to see much of Laura play over the past few years, but when I have seen her play she plays with a lot of heart and determination. She'll gain experience this year, and I see her being a great player for coach potts in the upcoming years. These 3 freshman have a great group of seniors and juniors a head of them to guide and teach them. These 3 will learn a lot about the system and pace from kyle, huff, lyke, sinard, and rickard.
  12. Alright this is just from my knowledge. I use to live in Texas and both my parents graduated from high school in the dallas area. Texas is divided into 16 regions. In both 5A and 4A, each region sends 3 teams. As an example, in 5A 2 teams go the 5A playoffs and the largest school of the top 3 schools from each region are placed in the Super 5A playoffs which is basically like 6A. So just from a numbers stand point 16 teams should be better than Riverdale just b/c of the numbers plus you have to add in the top 4 teams in regular 5A so that makes 21 just from the state of Texas. If any of you have seen Friday Night Lights and have seen the amount of money goes into the football programs in Texas you would understand why its a religion down there. Everyone talks about how football is life in tennessee, but if you are ever down in texas on a friday night you should go to the high school game near you because it's almost like going and seeing a junior or d3 college play football. Those kids play football from about the age of 4 until they can't or won't play anymore. Businesses really do shut down on friday nights to go watch the high school kids play a simple game. Riverdale might be the real deal, but I seriously doubt that the people that do the USAToday Top 25 would miss Riverdale if they were good enough to be in the top 25 in the nation. If TN teams have been in the poll before, then they aren't just looking at certain states, they are taking a look at TN and just don't see the talent that is being produced in other parts of the nation. Just because one team last year isn't as good as your team this year, means that other teams across the nation have just improved that much.
  13. wtf on the boola boola crap! what is this science hill language? come on speak some ENGLISH, we are in America and English is the native language for our country. I say that Jeff Co. will win just b/c it is a must win and plus its at LeRoy Shannon field in the heart of Dumplin Valley. I would expect the fog to start rollin in around the middle of the 3rd quarter like always from mossy creek. Its always comforting to see that fog come over LS field and look at the score board and see the good guys up and the ball stayin on the ground grinding out the clock. Looking across the field and seeing the opposing coaches realize that they need a stop and for the clock to stop, but don't want to burn a timeout but this year shiverdecker will keep that clock running and get in the endzone to put Jeff Co up by 7 more and put even more pressure on the opponent and the fog getting thicker and thicker over the visiting side of the field. Go Pats and take one to the house for the JCT.
  14. Why the heck are we back on this QB thing again? I thought we had this discussion 2/3 weeks ago. Coach U put Ben back there, End of story. I don't understand why we keep coming back to 1 kid winning or losing the game for JC when i takes 11 guys to play each down. I really wish people would get off their soap boxes and realize that Ben is playing with all his heart and skills, yea he may not be able to throw the ball 60 yards, but he's doing what coach u is asking of him. Enough said. Go patriots and good job Ben keep up the hard work.[/size]
  15. first question, Who does Karns have left to play? I'm pretty sure they play db the same night JC plays SC, and I'm not sure if they have CC left or not. Well I see it as Jeff Co. plays really well under the lights in Dumplin Valley so they should be able to win against both Science Hill and Sevier Co. in the valley. If they can get away from the goose egg on the road and beat both Bearden and South Doyle i believe that they will end up finishing second b/c DB will beat Karns because they are looking for some revenge from last year plus i believe its in Kingsport so they'll have the Fred rocking. I believe that Karns will slip up somewhere and lose another game which will put us in 2nd. Even if CC ends up w/ just 2 loses, we own the tiebreaker on head to head and therefore JC will get the first round game at home.
