  1. The Rowdy Rebs will go 3-7, or 4-6 if they can get a good break or two. I'd like to see them go 6-4 and make the playoffs. But having Gleason and Greenfield under their belt doesn't show they have moved to the playoff level just yet. Keep up the good work in "Sturt County."
  2. Congrats Lions on a huge win. My hat is off to Huntingdon and their fans. They don't lose many and were a class group tonight. Now let's go Lions, and work our way through the region. And yes, 93% who vote on the BIG ONES can be wrong when they don't know the leaders on our team. And we have been winning for three years without much press from the Jaxon Moon newspaper.
  3. Baldie's boys will get the job done against Tiger High, by 15 as the Huntingdon gospel continues to spread.
  4. Where did Fuller go? Is he still at Cumberland County or did he go to Stone? He usually helps out where ever he is.
  5. My name is Mickey Watson. Those Spring Lions are so fast, as the ran by they blew off my hair piece for men.
  6. Camden is rebuilding and will have a long season. Waverly, however, surprised me. That is the worst Waverly team I have seen on the floor in years. They will have a long season too - especially against the likes of Dickson Co. I hope both teams gain some depth rapidly.
  7. Huntingdon will probably be the 2006 Carroll Co. Champions again next year.
  8. Congratulations to Huntingdon, Carroll Co. 2A Champion, 2005 When's the parade?
  9. Camden is getting ready to welcome Huntingdon to Wright Field in August (about 250 days and counting). 2005 is in the books, 2006 is in the making.
  10. You went to a different game than I did. The Goodpasture fans were first class and their students were too.
  11. The only stat that mattered to me is that Camden had a great year and I'm proud of them.
  12. I'd like to thank all the Camden Central High School players, managers, and coaches for such another great run this year. Not one, not two, but three home playoff games at Wright Field. Ward is now 20-6 over the past two years (.769), with 5 of the 6 losses coming from top ten teams. (26-11 or .703 in his three full years at Camden) I'll put that record against any coach in the history of the school. My hat is off to this year's seniors who kept playing and winning even when almost everybody counted you out. Congrats to the junrs. and sophs. too for stepping up when you were called upon. Let's work hard over the winter and keep in competition with the big dogs.
  13. Camden fan here. I've seen Goodpasture and Huntingdon both this year and I think it will be a tremendous game for both schools. I'm giving the edge, based totally on how they both played against Camden, to Huntingdon. I'm not knocking Goodpasture but I think Huntingdon can score enough points on them to get the job done.
  14. Jim Swafford would fit in down at Adamsville very well. He would be a great coach for Buford Pusser Country. Ya'll should try to get him, unless one of the asstistants wants the head coaching job - do they?
  15. McKenzie is a class school with a class football program. Keep up the good work over there.
  16. Adamsville is in a tough situation. There's not a team out there that will scrap you any harder. Don't let the locals or anyone else get down on you. One bad year will not ruin the guts and pride the Cardinals have. If you think you had a bad coach, you never looked at him from the bleachers across the field. And I'll bet he lands on his feet where ever he goes.
  17. I was worried about the Lions until the tornado approached Camden from the west Tuesday afternoon. As it got near the high school the boys were practicing for Friday night's big game with Goodpasture. (Ward can do a lot of things but he can't coach against a tornado I thought.) The tornado huffed and puffed and got to 641 just as McDowell was finishing one of his famous MacArther speeches. While the rest of us good citizens of Camden were hunkered down in basements and under our duck blinds, coach Ward and his men went to work. McDowell directed the troops into the school and to the secret rooms where the janitors usually hide to sleep. Ward ran for the lawn mower and started mowing the practice field. I was amazed because Knott didn't even get mad as hail and dead grass flew out of the lawn mower all over his ham sandwich he had been trying to gulp down during McDowell's speech. About that time, Wyatt raced across the parking lot in his suv with sparks flying out from under the back. He had obviously run over a shopping cart and it was stuck under the transaxle. In the middle of all of this confusion, Coach Blow ran to the field house as fast as he could. Ward cut the lawn mower off and yelled, "Coach Blow, where you going?" Coach Blow looked back over his shoulder and said, "I'm going to the bathroom cause they never had tornadoes like this in Huntingdon." Just as things were getting really exciting and it looked like Camden was going to be stormed away, the clouds split and one went north and the other went south. The tornado was scared to come across the Lion's field because it knew Ward had a plan to beat it, even though it was bigger and badder than the whole Lion team. Now that's the end of the tornado story except one thing. The only one missing from the playoff practice picture was Coach Hollowell and we all knew where he was and not one single one of us blamed him.
  18. The east fence at the football field was blown down. The ads on the fence turned it into a sail. Beaz and crew will have it repaired before the game Friday nite. If necessary, Freddie Dean and I will help him today after school. Freddie can get jobs like that done in a flash.
  19. I'd like to see Alcoa grow and play in the division with Maryville all the time.
  20. How much do the Camden Lions mean to us? I'm going to go down Fri. evening and get my grandmother out of the nursing home, put her in the car and prop her up for the game. I'll park the car next to the east end zone so she can watch her Lions from the comfort of the car and hear the voices of Flash Melton and Kenny Cooper, the best radio announcers in high school football land. She might not live to ever see the Lions get to Murfreesboro - but she thinks she will, and we hope grandma is right. I just wish now we could make her stop checking out Coaches Ward and McDowell. You see, she's a wild old thing and we can't convince her that they are both happily married men who collectively have 23 children. She thinks they're college boys and wants to go out on the town with them!
  21. Are you sure about Madison or could it be C-a-m-d-e-n?
  22. The field goal was not good for sure. As it was sailing by the goalpost, it was on the Camden side by 3 to 4 feet.
  23. I don't have anything to say. I just wanted to post with my new Plus Membership. I just wish I'd have done this earlier. Free membership is like a TV antenna; Plus membership is like the best cable money can buy. Come on Camden Fans, let's go Plus and take it above these trash talking boards.
  24. I like the way everybody had counted Milan out and here they are again.
  25. My hat's off to Coach Taylor and the Richland football team. They are going to be around region the 6 AA title hunt next year. They're a young group of players that have as much heart as any team Camden has played this year.
