Series of the Week Lexington vs McNairy Right out of the gate and this series could play a major role in the standings at the end of the year. Rest of the series Scotts Hill vs Adamsville Riverside vs Southside Chester Co vs Northside
  4. They will have to mainly find some WRs and DBs. They lose 1 or 2 LB but they have depth there. They return most of their lineman, QB, RB, TE who was top receiver, and All-State LB. I believe Westview will be much improved. They made a great hire in their coaching search.
  5. I wouldn't put them in the top 5 because last year was the best year they have had in over 10 years. But, I believe McNairy will be in the mix with Milan and Covington. They return a lot from this past season and will be led by a number of seniors.
  6. We are just a few weeks away from the start of the season. We had a nice little thread going last year, so we will try it again this year. Let's get some one-season predictions. I'll start with 13AA and this district is the least I know about, so some may be able to fill me in or correct me. But I'll give it a shot 1. South Gibson- Won regular season and district tournament. I know they lost a few key players but I believe they return some good players as well. 2. Westview- Made the region tournament and I believe they return most of their team. Finished 4th in the regular season, so I predict them and Milan battling for 2nd. 3. Milan- I believe they were a young team last year. A year of experience and improving this year, should help the battle for the 2 seed. 4. Crockett Co- Finshed 2nd in the Regular season but I think they lost a couple of guys especially at pitcher but I could be wrong on that. 5. Dyereburg- Coaching change and a few bad years. Usually a strong team, so it will be interesting to follow what happens under the new coach. 6. Obion Co- Not a good year last year and I dont know much about them. Now 14AA. Last year, Riverside went on to be AA State Runner-ups and McNairy blew a lead late against Covington in the Sub-State game. All teams lost some good players due to graduation. Like going into last season, I think this district is wide open again with a handful of teams able to win it or finish in the top 2 of the district tournament. 1. Scotts Hill- They lost some really good players. They are going to have to replace hitting and pitching. But, they have a number of good players returning and they probably will have the Top pitcher in the district returning this year. 2. McNairy- Defending District Tournament Champions. Going into last season, McNairy strength was going to be the pitching they brought back but having to replace all but 1 player in the lineup. Coming into this season, it's the exact opposite. They lost all of their pitching from last season. Only return about 10 innings of varsity pitching. But, they return almost their whole lineup from last year. They have some guys with potential to pitch, if they can get them going and the lineup builds off of last year, they should be able to contend in the top of the district. 3. Lexington- They lost a couple of players but especially a their big bat in their lineup. Overall, I believe they return a majority of their team which will help them be contenders and why I am putting them in the top 3. 4. Riverside- The State Runner-Ups were hit hard by graduation. While they do have some players coming back, they have a big hole to fill in losing their big 3. The three carried their pitching staff and they were also their top hitters. But, Riverside is always a threat and play fundamental baseball and that's why they are still a threat in this district. 5. Northside- I expected a better season out of Northside last year and predicted a better finish that what they did. I'll give them another chance this year as I believe they return most of their team. They got some talent on the team but they have to become consistent. They may surprise some of the teams above them this year. 6. Southside- They lost a few of their top players from last year off a team that wasn't very deep. If what I have been told is true, they lost their No.1 to Tommy John in the off season which will be a big blow to them. They got some good players but don't believe they are deep enough to make a run. 7. Chester Co- The defending Regular Season Champions. I predicted last year that they would be rebuilding in Henderson after they were hit hard by graduation. Well, they went on to win the District in the regular season. This year, they were hit hard again by graduation. The difference, they still had a group of really good players to build around last year and I believe they lack that this year. They may prove me wrong again this year, but I dont think it will be a very good year in Henderson. 8. Adamsville- They were overall a young team last year but they lost some of their best players. Specifically, their No.1 pitcher who was probably the best in the district and gave them a chance to win each time he was on the mound. I didn't see them being very competitive this year to begin with. Now throw in the fact they have lost their head coach, it makes it tougher.
  7. Yes, wasn't a good game. McNairy up 11-8 at halftime. Lots of turnovers. McNairy is going to be streaky. They have played a couple good games and a couple bad games. Win over Dyer Co was good with Warren scoring 37 then Alcorn Central. The two bad games, Hardin Co and Adamsville. The other games, they have were in and led at points in the 1st half, Dyer Co that they lost and Gibson Co. But, just couldn't maintain it in the 2nd half. They have to become more consistent and a couple other players are going to have to emerge as consistent scorers to go along with Warren. Teams that neutralized her, have came out on top. Hopefully, as the season goes they will keep improving. They lost quite a few seniors that played a lot of the minutes last year. They have no seniors this year, so a lot of players are getting their first extended amount of playing time and they are playing some young kids as well. Hopefully, by playoff time, they will be a lot better team.
  8. I thought the Aville/Bruceton 63-16 score was the girls game. I could be wrong on that, I know I saw that score in the Jackson Sun for the girls game.
  9. McNairy did lose some to graduation, mainly 2 starters and 1 that was in and out of the starting lineup. But, they played a bunch of players last year and their starting lineup was always changing. They will be led by the return of Omari Robinson who the Jackson Sun has as one of the top returning players in the area and Michael White who had multiple games of 20 and 30 points last year. Also, they will be getting back two players that missed about all of last season, one of those in Hunter McCullar who was probably going to start at guard. Although, they may have taken a hit in the Post, as Latham who started playing a lot of minutes toward the end last year got hurt in football last Friday and waiting on an MRI on his knee.
  10. No, Browder is not back. But, I believe there are multiple factors that play in to this. Franks has brought in some good assistant coaches. Some people may disagree, but I've never believed in the excuse of lack of talent. Coaching and too many hands wanting to run the program has been the biggest issues the last 10 years. McNairy is not losing really many kids to Aville especially the top players anymore. A lot of kids like Franks plus McNairy other sports are better than Aville which is keeping a lot of players there. Another factor has been that Aville has had a run of good talent come through just their junior high. You add them, players choosing Aville over McNairy, and kids coming in from out of county and they were able to produce good teams. But, it seems like we are hitting a period of decreasing talent potential county wide and Aville is being hit hardest by it. Their Jr High teams have not been good the past few years and I think you are fixing to see that with their teams at the high school level the next few years. Not saying they are going to be really bad, but the coaches will have their work cut out for them in developing players and I dont see them being anywhere near as good as they have been.
  11. They did. They have been saying for a few weeks now, they wanted another shot at Covington. They didn't like the way they played the 1st game and believed they could play with them. Hopefully they have turned the program around and we can get back to being competitive and winning consistently again. It's been a rough past 10 years. We are bringing back a lot of pieces next year. We have to replace some WRs, DBs, and a couple LBers but we return almost all of our lineman on both sides along with our QB and RB. They got a lot to build on for next year. Covington runs the Wing-T with such precision. It's fun to watch unless you are on the other side. Lol. Plus, you have the threat of throwing out of it too. Good luck the rest of the way. Really like their chances of getting back to the finals.
  12. Yeah, that's what I was expecting them to do. Maybe try and draw offsides call a TO and come out and do it again but then finally run a play especially with the way you guys pick up positive yards on most runs.
  13. That they do. I'm just tired of you guys breaking our hearts. LOL. Tonight, Baseball last season, basketball over the years. We can't get over the hump against you guys when we run into you. I just want to know, do you think yall was going to run a play or punt the ball if they didn't draw us offsides on the 4th and short?
  14. Covington draws McNairy offsides on 4th and short. Covington wins 35-30. Great season for the Bobcats. No one predicted them to have this type of season. Good luck to Covington the rest of the way.
  15. 4th 3:25 Covington 35 McNairy 30 McNairy stops Covington 4th and short at the McNairy 14
  16. 4th 8:35 Covington 35 McNairy 30 McNairy drives the field and scores on a 3yd run. 2 point conversion is no good.
  17. 4th 11:05 Covington 35 McNairy 24 McNairy snaps ball over punter's head, 1st play a 20 yd TD pass
  18. 3rd 1:36 Covington 28 McNairy 24 Covington took over at midfield and ran down the field scoring on 3 yd TD run
  19. 105.5 depending on where you are in West TN. That's a Selmer station
  20. 2nd 2:00 McNairy 24 Covington 21 McNairy 3 play drive capped of by 23 yd TD QB scramble
  21. 2nd 3:10 Covington 21 McNairy 17 Covington runs down the field scoring on a 30+ yd TD run
  22. 2nd 6:11 Covington 14 McNairy 17 McNairy drives the field and throws a 10 yd TD.
