  1. Guess this will all be settled on Saturday. I don't think anyone is saying Bradley or Cumberland is not capable of winning but I am calling right k ow the best chance to dethrone a team is Bradley winning at home vs.Stewart's Creek. Riverdale will beat Cumberland at home most likely by double digits on Saturday. Agree or disagree you heard it here first.
  2. 6aaa If I remember correctly cause I was at the games didn't Cumberland Co. Lose to Blackman twice this season? They were never really in it at Blackman as well. This Riverdale team is a more complete team than the Blackman team in my opinion Blackman just had the Best player in TN and one of the tops in America. Stewart's Creek is a very scrappy and athletic team playing really well right now. As far as Bradley Central dont k ow much about them since I haven't seen them in person but I know they are traditionally very good. It will be a difficult task for either to go there and win but I feel these teams will have the athleticism to do it.
  3. You are right pioneer42. If both win their first round games Riverdale/Blackman will play in a win or go home regional semifinal. A shame two teams as phenomenal as these both can't play in the glass house but it is the nature of the beast in basketball. And Vandychris I hear Lawrence Co. Is a pretty good team but they must get by an underrated Stewart's Creek team ( with wins over Blackman and Riverdale this year) and a very good Oakland team before they can think about knocking off the Blackman/Riverdale winner. Should be some great basketball in the regional tournament.
  4. Ok gonna jump into the fray! Lol 1st 7-AAA is the best girls basketball district int he state hands down. 4 teams in top 10 state wise. It also growsand cultivates some of the best talent around. Stewarts Creek for example plays with girls zoned there. Do others move in?/absolutely they want to play against great competition and on a national level. These teams play a national schedule. Are there girls teams out there that can knock them off on a given night. Absolutely. With that said I expect to RuCo teams to play in the finals but Memphis East, Wilson Central Dickson Co. Etc could sneek up andplay spoiler. There are many reasons that 7-AAA is a competitive district other than talent coaching alsoplays a part. Not that there is not good coaching in other districts but the DEPTH of coaching in RUCO is impressive. Good luck to allduring tourney time
  5. Jealousy is an ugly trait we should all try to avoid. There are alot of deserving players and in the end there are only 3 finalist and 1 winner. To make generalized comments like play in a weak league or beat people by 40-50 points is just sad and inaccurate. For example Crystal Dangerfield and Anastasia Hayes of Blackman and Riverdale play in the strongest district in the state of Tennesee. The top 4 in that district were all ranked in the AAA top ten last week in Blackman, Riverdale, Oakland, Stewart's Creek. They both play on teams that are nationally ranked and play a national schedule. The surprise to me was the girl from.Dickson Co. Who is a McDonald's All-American not being in the final 3. With that said It doesn't mean the others are not deserving. Those that were not it doesn't take away from their accomplishments, they should use it as motivation as they head into tournament season.
  6. 2016 I would seriously doubt that. Dobbs I am certain new Coach A was leaving Riverdale before he accepted the job at Moore Co. It is also said that the Riverdale folks are looking to go outside the former staff for their next head coach. So I don't think the folks in Lynchburg need to worry. They need to get behind Dobbs who is not only a very good football coach but good man as well. Congrats on the hire and good luck.
  7. as far as 2 kids getting tossed what really happened was kids got into a scuffle. Pushing and mouthing so hey were sent to sideline to cool off and let coaches calm them. They were allowed back into the scrimmage. Seen lots of scrimmages and believe me seen alot worse with fights etc. Than was on display that day. Again there was trash talking and things happening from both sides no cheap shots I remember just a couple tempers flare g from a week a fall camp from both teams. Don't think Page or their coaches lack discipline because of it nor the Creek.
  8. Boohoowiseman you must be getting g your information from the page folks who got dominated in a scrimmage by Stewart's Creek. I will tell you first hand that the discipline at Stewart's Creek is solid. Look at my posts or ask some on here and not hard to figure out who I am. There were some fights and stuff during the scrimmage mentioned before but I promise the talking and cheap shots went both ways. Especially when the Creek jumped all over them early. So remember there are 2 sides to every story. Coach Martin runs a class program and tight ship. Bottom line and I will vouch for that any day.
  9. In AAA no doubt the winner is Crystal Dangerfield. Last years winner and if you have not had the opportunity to watch her play you missed out. The best player I have seen in maybe all my time watching girls bball in TN. She is special. #1 point guard in the nation, signed with UConn and a McDonalds All-American!!
  10. I would not underestimate Stewarts Creek. Obviously Indy will be the favorite, defending state champ, and will be top dog till someone knocks them off. As for the Creek they return 7 starters on each side of the ball I believe including their entire backfield with exception of QB. Also with his being year 4 of the program Coach Martin will have his first true Senior class that has been with him for 4 years. This region was one of the most wide open last year with a 4 way Tue for second so should be another exciting year of football.
  11. Wow, the way I hear it there is a monkey wrench thrown into the works.Come on WOMG fill us in. Is the cat out of the bag and a former guy from across the boarder coming back to Bobcat country?? Was this in the works the entire time? If true gonna look really fishy
  12. Not gonna divulge the 3rd person's name because he is a friend of mine and not sure if he would want it put on here. Second heard from a pretty good source a decision has been made and the 3rd person mentioned wasn't the choice so it really doesn't matter. If what I heard was true will be surprised to see what the Giles faithful think of their new skipper.
  13. First off bobcat93 if you can't spell principal then I am not sure you are qualified to make a response. Secondly, the PRINCIPAL Mark Cardin is not the problem in GC. As a matter of fact he is a good man and loves GCHS. You will not find a better supporter of Giles Co. athletics. As for the coaching search, which I thought this thread was about, heard a 3rd guy not mentioned here interviewed Monday as well as the final two. When will a decision be made? Will the 3rd man take it if offered or is it going to be 1 of the 2 original finalist?
  14. 1323, I got it from a very good source that you are correct. Word I got was Kriesky withdrew from consideration for the Giles Co. job so that means unless they call someone else in for a final interview it is now a 2 horse race between two young coaches.
  15. justagoodoleboy, not sure who GC is going to hire but from the info I have got they have some very good candidates including Blair and Flippo. My advice would be look for long term stability the program is about to have its 3 head coach in a 4 year period. 4 if you count interim time with Blair. For that to happen the good folks in GC, and there are many, must step back and let the new HC do his job and run the program the way the coach sees fit. OC had his ways and agree with how he did it or not he was very successful. Can't argue that. With that said there are more than one way to skin a cat and because a new coach may do it differently doesn't make it wrong or doesn't mean he can't be successful. Good luck to the bobcats great community with many great people there.
  16. I think the more correct response is Coach Blair left because he did not agree with all the underhanded rule breaking policies of the previous staff. If practicing illegally is considered out working the oponnent then alot of coaches sure don't work as "hard" as the old staff. Coach Blair is a good man, good coach. As far as the his working "hard" mentality heard a Coach named Gary Rankin, won a few state titles and just got inducted into Coaches Hall of fame, say your wasting your time if you practice more than 2 and 1/2 hours. Said if you couldn't get it in in 2 and 1/2 hours then you doing too much. After that time you just spinning your wheels. I would tend to agree with him
  17. Yep looking at the list let's fire the coaches with losing records for most of those teams because it must be coaching!! Those teams have such a track record of winning with multiple head coaches! In my sarcastic voice.
  18. Being involved in high school football for a long time I can honestly say I have only saw one situation where the basketball coach worked to convince kids not to play football. I can't ever really remember a situation where a football coach tried to stop his players from playing basketball many of the ones I knew were multisport athletes growing up themselves. I believe the kids should be allowed to enjoy their high school experience and play all sports they are capable of playing because most will not play beyond high school. I have told many an athlete my biggest regret from high school was not playing basketball my senior year after playing the previous years because I knew I was going to college to play football. I missed being with the guys, bus rides, games etc. My honest opinion is the real reason we see less multi-sport athletes is not necessarily the school coaches but you aaau, summer league stuff. That help convince kids they have better chance to get a college scholarship by focusing on one sport and doing all this travel stuff to get seen.
  19. Again not crying here just stating I think the playoff tiebreaker format could be better. Didn't realize stating an opinion was crying but thanks for pointing that out. If tha Creek would have won Friday then they wouldn't have had to worry bout it but they didn't. So as I said earlier good luck to 5-5a teams in playoffs
  20. Again it is all well and void to say just win your region games! Every coach I know says the same thing. In this instance Stewart's Creek won their regions games or just as many as the 3 teams in their region Lavergne, Shelbyville and Lincoln Co. They were tied for 2nd in the region with those above mentioned teams it not like they won 1 or 2 region games. It just a shame the teams that played the easy schedules out of conference got the benefit over them heck Lincoln finishes 2nd ahead of LaVergne who beat them 34-8 just a couple weeks ago. It is what it is good luck to the 5-5A district in the playoffs and congrats to Stewart's Creek on a good year in only their 3rd year as a program. Use it as motivation to get there next year.
  21. not insulting g other teams I k ow very well how good Giles was 2 years ago. Believe me but this is not two years ago even then they would have had a hard time beating s team like Smyrna. Just saying there should be a better way to determine seedi g than overall record because it can be misleading. If we are OK with teams with losing records in ayoffs then why not make opponent overall wins the 2nd tiebreaker after head to head instead of overall record??
  22. that is OK Midtenn football doesn't matter as Smyrna still a very good 6A team.second nr grizzlies you right SC lost some good seniors no doubt but they return entire backfield on offense besides QB. They return return 5 of their front 7 on defense and 2 of 4 DBs. The Seniors will be missed but they left a legacy at the Creek and provided a work ethic and standard I expect the younger guys to take and run with
  23. Football 51 SC did finish in top 4 of their region technically. They were actually tied for 2nd with Lincoln Co. LaVergne Shelbyville. All 4 teams had identical 4-3 region records. They round robined their wins so no team beat all the others. That is when they went to overall record Shelbyville who Stewart Creek beat benefitted from a non region schedule of Tullahoma (0-10), Lawrence Co(3-7) and Giles Co. (3-7) to go 7-3. Lincoln Co. Did the same thing by beating the above mentioned teams as well. While LaVergne and Stewart's Creek both lost a 4th game to Smyrna, who beat Oakland last night if I heard correctly. So Lincoln and Shelbyville placed above LaVergne and SC because of 7 wins instead of 6. Then LaVergne beat SC head to head so the get 4th spot. It is disappointing the Red Hawks didn't make it but they have off season motivation and a bulk of returning players that can get them over the hump next year I believe.
  24. they will need to start it running before they leave for the game!! Lol
