To add to the complaints can't believe no NW Tennessee representation with Reedy(Union City) or Shamon Pearson from Lake Co. not making it. Both were very deserving.

A great event. Lake County attended last year and will be there again. They will have a 7 on 7 competition where you are guaranteed 4 games. While the 7 on 7 is going on the lineman from each school will be matched against each other in a series of events such as Bench Press competition, Sled push etc. Good work for all teams involved.

Smith has had some good teams no doubt but remind me of how many Gold Balls or even Silver Balls they have up in Carthage. If you are satisfied with a program that wins 7-8 games, goes couple rounds deep in the playoffs then why was Sequatchie so down on their last Coach? Just asking. I think last year was the first year they did not make the playoffs under him and his playoff win was the first in a long time at SC. Nothing wrong with developing a program BUT to do that the community MUST be invested in it and allow the HC to do just that. Fans are fans everywhere some good, some not so good. Coach B has moved on, Sequatchie has moved on so hey let's all move on!! Good day.

I maybe a little of a homer but I would have to say Coach Dawn Barger at Lake Co. is one of the top coaches in the state. In 3 years as a head coach she has made 3 straight state tournament appearances winning the Class A title in 2011 and finishing runner-up in 2013. Made it to the final four in her second appearance upsetting No. 1 Booker T. Washington along the way. She has a 6-2 record in the state tournament with 3 sub-state wins, 2 Region titles and 2 District 14-A titles. Not a bad record as a head coach.

Indian, you proved my point for me. As I was saying other than Marion Co. and South Pittsburg how many valley teams ; Bledsoe, Grundy, Sequatchie and Whitwell have consistently won when playoffs rolled around or made deep runs. Seq has 1 title appearance I know of, Bledsoe has a couple of Quarterfinal appearances, Whitwell made it to the Semis once that I remember, lost to FRA I believe, and not sure on Grundy. My point was that Sequatchie has had some great coaches examples Sid Fritts, Faulkerson, Mackersie etc. but none have made the championship game. Two years ago Bledsoe fielded as good a team as they have had in some time and what happened when Alcoa came to town? At the 3A level it will be difficult to get out of the 2nd round when you have to play a CAK, Alcoa etc. Ken will do a good job just like Barger did just understand the challenges faced at Sequatchie Co. They have good facilities, a great stadium and good support and following just limited athletically like most valley schools in my opinion.

Raheem Flowers- Lake Co. should have a chance to sign Div. I with a solid senior year.

Single A- Defending Champ Humboldt returns entire starting line-up so will again be a force. Lake County loses both post players Devon Jones and Justin Kimble but return Zay Coleman and watch out for upcoming Sophomores Darius Johnson and Stavonski Wilkes to step in and play well next year so I would not count them out just yet, 2 title game appearances in the last 3 years. Union City will return almost everything as well as South Fulton so 14-A will be a meat grinder once again. Also I see the usual suspects from the other region BTW, TCA,Middleton and now add Mitchell to the mix as well. All very talented teams capable of winning it all. Which teams make it from the west is anybody's guess, could honestly be any of the above mentioned teams, but I feel whoever does has a very good chance at winning it all!!

copenoc, no problem we all let our emotions get the best of us sometimes so not a big deal. I will say if they are kids moving here then it is because of some other reason than Coach B recruiting them. Family or other reasons I promise you that. I also agree 2 wrongs don't make a right but it is what it is, but hey again it is in the past and everyone has moved on. I have enjoyed most of your posts but just wanted you to know that Coach B is not like McCord or other coaches and is NOT out recruiting, if someone says she is that is completely false. She works hard with the kids she has and has been able to get the best out of them, that is it. May or may not make it back to the boro next year but with LC"s track record the last 3 years would not count them out.

Le's see where to start again with you copenoc, First, I guess it was not classless for UC Coach to throw the football up in the air like a grenade and every player fall down on the ground after beating Trenton the week before they played LC, especially with Coach Scott on the hot seat at the time, or when they beat LC in the playoffs. If you ask Coach B this is why it was done b/c he and Coach Scott are good friends and he thought that was classless and decided to return the favor if they won. May or may not have been the right decision but sometimes people let their emotions get the best of them. 2nd was not his knee that got injured but achilles tendon and it was not from dancing but actually from turning to run when leaving midfield, so if you gonna post at least get the facts straight!! Seems like you are now the one all messed up so get over yourself. If you say Coach B got what he deserved then I guess OC got what they deserved with Jackson running off after the recruits ran out. Heck everyone in NW TN knows he was a classy guy!!LOL As far as the recruiting goes heck I'm said to be kin folk and I am not even in the loop on our latest recruits?? Really? Kids moving in from not around here?Wow little ole LC must have gone nationwide!! If they are not from around here where they from cause I am sure Coach B and the kin folk, me, would like to know!! Seems you in the rumor mill and know more than even the head basketball coach herself so enlighten us. LOL

Loved Coach Mac. He was a fine man and excellent teacher of football and life. Enjoyed our conversations at coaching clinics through the years and I was blessed to have had the opportunity to compete against his teams. May he rest in peace and my prayers are with Coach Mac's family as well as his Lipscomb family.

Again ghettozero, you didn't answer my question about what else the school should have done. Hire a PI, drive to the town and stake out the address? what? Since we need help here in little ole poor west tn impart some knowledge on us. Also Lake has not made this mistake multiple times, it happened 1 time, I REPEAT 1 time. The player in question played at Trenton against Lake Co. and enrolled in LC with a trenton address. What more infor did you expect the school to get? Were they supposed to assume Trenton was playing an ineligible player and cheating? Just don't understand your rationale.

A million coaches? really? Have you ever had a basketball conversation with coach B? If not then how do you know how much Basketball she does or does not know? Yes she can communicate it to the kids but she is also a student of the game that works hard at her craft. As coaches we can always learn and definitely do not know it all, because when a coach quits learning or thinks they know enough it is time to get out of the game because it will pass you buy.

No everyone, ghetto zero is right ALL school officials should assume everyone that comes into their school and enrolls is not telling the truth about their address and situation, they should in turn hire a private investigator or go out themselves and stake out the people's house and travel to the former town just to make sure everything is on the up and up before they allow them into school or on any athletic teams!! Don't expect parents or guardians to tell the truth or be honest because that would be asking too much. Because calling the former school, getting addresses and documentation together is not enough for ole ghetto got to go above and beyond that!! hope you got the sarcasm cause I was laying it on pretty thick!

Thanks tradertwo you are correct. If someone didn't know that Coach B was female they would say heck of a 3 year run. As I said on another thread I don't understand why fans from SOME area schools can never give LC credit for any accomplishments and just say good job. Got to try and tear them down, then they wonder why LC fans are so defensive and have a dislike for certain schools and fans in our area. This was an incredible run by a team most had written off as rebuilding and not very good. Most fans, even the most diehard LC fans, probably felt the season would end Feb. 12 at Greenfield but these cardiac kids played with great heart and determination and provided alot of special postseason memories for the LC community. Bigster you are right, not one player on LC's roster did not live in Lake Co. Now if you go to Obion Co. and look I believe that their previous football coach was a heck of a recruiter as well. Parr from Dyer Co., Fair from Fulton Co., the youngest Hyde from UC, seems they need to look in their own back yard before throwing stones. You are right that the Lewis kids came from South Fulton I know LC played football vs Khiry at South Fulton 2 years then against him at UC the next 2. Seems everytime LC has some success instead of congrats fans from area schools want to tear them down. Then wonder why LC fans dislike UC and certain other area schools so much.

copenoc, I have lost ALL respect for you with that garbage post you just made!! Coach B recruiting?? Really? You sir are an idiot!! There is NO and I repeat NO recruiting going on in LC, guess the jealousy is just showing through. If Lake County is doing ANY recruiting at all it is the recruiting of our own kids!! Trying to keep them in Lake Co. instead of Dyer Co. or somewhere else. Show me one shread of evidence you have that Lake Co. is recruiting! Heck even the ineligible player that the Falcons had to forfiet games for was a Lake Co. kid who went to school in LC from elementary through middle school, was living in Lake Co. and attending Dyer Co. So you can't even use that incident as a valid point in recruiting. As far as that goes didn't the UC girls have to forfiet some games last year because of an ineligible player?? Think so. Guess that means they are recruiting as well with her and the Reedy girl playing at UC. Drop the green envy glasses and post realisticly and with some shred of facts to back it up.

warrior2024, as for arguing with topper06 remember what your pops told ya, never argue with a ignorant person they will only drag you down to their level. No matter what you say he will never understand because the envy and dislke for Coach B will not let him see any other point of view. As for you topper06, I have 2 things for ya, not arguing just asking, 1st why did you not answer my question about where you are coaching and the great job you are doing? You said if you had been on the bench for Humboldt they would have beaten LC by 25 so I am still waiting on that answer since you are so great. 2nd, You said you think Coach B is a good coach but we ALL know that is not true. Because you cannot just say they Coach B can coach or she is good with out coming back and saying she needs to coach girls or its an ego thing or she should have known the player was ineligible. Always must end with something negative so remember that tells the entire story about you.

Be careful about throwing stones when you live in a glass house!! East TN are no angels when it comes to elgibility rules, Signal Mountain in Chattanooga forfieted some football games over an ineligible player just last year. There have been others as well so it is not just a west tn issue. Maybe in basketball heck the west probably doesn't care if the east is using ineligible players because then they might at least be competitive. As for this situation, TSSAA found NO wrong doing on Trenton's or Lake Co.'s part they were victim's of misleading information. That is good enough for me. The only reason the games were forfieted was b/c by rule he was ineligible and that is what it says to do in the bylaws. Even though the TSSAA had ruled him eligible based on the same information that was provided to Trenton and LC. Heck they are school teachers and coaches not private investigators. When people come to you with information I guess you expect the AD/Coach to drive to Trenton or where ever and stake out the address and investigate to see if the people are telling the truth?? Really? Let's drop the holier than thou crap and be realistic, but I am sure being the great one that you are ghettozero you have never overlooked ANYTHING or messed up on ANYTHING at whatever job you have, so you are the perfect person to pass judgement on others.

Vikingalumni, enjoyed debating and talking ball all year with you. Congrats to your Vikings as they beat my Falcons for the state title. Great game and great effort. The Vikings beat us straight up and definitely earned that gold ball. Enjoy the moment and see you guys in the fall and next basketball season!!

Where to start, 1st Topper06, thanks for proving my point by saying if you were coaching Humboldt they would have won by 20. Everyone with 2 eyes could see that Humboldt had better overall players this year than LC. The falcons had a chance to win because a. Their kids played with tremendous heart and effort and 2. They are well coached. The kids play hard because they respect and love their coach which is a big part of being a great coach. The coaching boys is not an ego thing, that is the most reidiculous thing I have ever heard. She has coached middle school boys, high school girls and now high school boys and said she prefers to coach on the boys side. What about the men that coach women's basketball, guess they not real coaches since they only coach girls!! Get over yourself. As far as coaching circles around Coach B you are living in your dream world. Since you are such a great coach put your record and accomplishments out there for us PLEASE!! This lady played college basketball and has been a student of the game as far as I can remember. So unless you know such your mouth. As far as copenoc, Whitby built?? Really?? How many state tournaments did he reach in over 10 years at Lake Co.? None. With more talent than has been on the last 3 teams combined. I was there and witnessed the Tony Tyler, Jay Warlick, Channing Geanes, Brandon Springer, Carlos Young, Kevin Copelin, Sep Valentine, Jackie Johnson and Andrew Wallace team not get out of the sub-state or Region semis. in back to back years. They were 9-10 deep, tall and long. He NEVER hosted a sub-state game and made 2 in his career at LC. This lady has been to 3 state tournaments in 3 years with much less talent. Heck you take Cannon Whitby off the OC team and the coach you speak of doesn't win his 1 title. How many did he get after that? Gold or silver basketballs? Hate talkng about him because I think he was a good coach BUT so tired of hearing from the OC folks that she is living off Whitby players, heck none of these kids that brought the silver ball back to LC played for him on the varsity level, they were freshmen.

That was a great game and even though I am a Lake Co. fan the vikings beat us straight up for the gold so congrats to our fellow District 14-A member. LC has nothing to be ashamed of they played hard and had a chance to win in the end, all you can ask for when two good teams are playing. So know time to move on and look forward to next year, with what UC, Humboldt, LC and South Fulton have coming back should be another great year in the district.

Topper06, why do you feel so threatened by a female coaching boys? I know you say your ole-fashioned but guess what it is 2013 and hey women can vote, run corporations, and even coach basketball! Again as I said I would put Coach B on the court against any coach A thru AAA. Just a quick story for you from the tournament Southwind, AAA state champ, practiced at Riverdale after our Falcons and as they were coming on the floor J3, the 6,10 player for Southwind, asked Coach B if she would take a picture with him and told her he was a big fan of her and what she had done coaching boys. Their coach even told her he liked what she was doing and had borrowed some of her plays to use himself. A college coach stopped her mom after the championship game and told her to make sure Coach B new that she was a heck of a coach. Hate it all you want but boys are boys in Single A or AAA and she can teach the game and relate to the young men and that is what makes her a great coach. As for the girl's comment we are ok in that spot as well since Coach Johnson has taken LC to 3 of the last 5 state tournaments and finished in the sub-state this year and Regional semi's the other year he did not make the dance. So he does a great job and we are proud of our Coaching staffs in little ole single A Lake Co.
