  1. If anyone needs to focus on English, it's you. With sentences like "I seen you're other posts" I can really tell you're bringing up the rear in your class. Also, if anyone has a lack of knowledge in football, it's you. You can't even back up your statement on who's going to beat Tyner, because you know NOTHING about their season, or who they're playing in the playoffs...So I say to you, have fun at the concrete plant, because that's where you're going to end up. (If you're lucky, you'll have a promising career in the lawn-care business). Now if you don't mind, I'd like to talk about Marion vs. Tellico, not your incompetence. AC
  2. Ah yes, I have one question...Do you have an idiot check on your computer? You should. It'll prevent you from posting...Also you say I know nothing about football? Who is Tyner going to lose to? Their only loss this year was from McCallie, and that was only by 8. So tell me, since you know so much about football, who's going to beat Tyner? AC
  3. Your comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You need to re-word it, because 95% of your post is typed in fragments. Next order of business, it's Urlacher, not Urlacer. Third order of business, just like you, I am not responisble for how our team plays. And the last order of business, the CoachT homework comment was retarded. I hope you have a nice day, because you need one. AC
  4. Good point Shawn-O. I figured that statement was takin' shots at you..Watch yourself Bill, you don't want to start a war. AC
  5. Good luck in the future coach, and Lord bless you man. AC
  6. AC from Marion here. When it comes down to statistics on who's won more state championships, it doesn't come down to which type of school..public or private..is better. It comes down to the number of each winning the state championships. It's clearly obvious that public schools outnumber private schools by 2 to 1 or even better, so it's obvious that public schools are going to win more championships than private schools. 926 said it best, it depends on the ratio of public/private schools in the state. AC
  7. Fender, I played at Whitwell from 78-81.. At that time, Marion wasn't much different than Whitwell. As a matter of fact, Whitwell was a lot better. In '78, we were 7-4 and Marion was struggling to get 5 wins if I remember correctly. SP still ruled the county. Colquette was at Bridgeport, AL. and had a reputation of winning there. In 1978, we beat Marion 20-0 regular season and lost 12-0 to them in first round of the playoffs. Then, in '79, Whitwell hired Landon Pickett (from Marion, BTW.. also a Whitwell native). We beat Marion that year 6-0. In 1980, Marion hired Colquette and immediately they were better. I know some of the players on that first team (played summer baseball with/against them) and I noticed a big difference immediately after that first spring practice in their attitude. He made believers in them. Something we didn't have at Whitwell and we were really the same kids. They beat us 28-6 that year and 24-0 in '81. The '78-'79 Marion teams were totally different than the' 80-'81 teams. It's like comparing the TN. Titans to the Atlanta Falcons today... 2 teams headed in opposite directions. It was Colquette who made the difference. Marion started having success and it wasn't long before they were in the playoffs and on to their 4 state championships. Success breeds success. I agree Marion had the talent in the early '90s. That's obvious. But that train wouldn't run without Colquette shoveling the coal and punching the levers to make it roll. Marion owes a lot to him. He certainly has my respect. He is responsible for bringing top quality football to the Sequatchie Valley. I agree whole-heartedly Whit..Coach Colquette worked those players hard, and it showed. And I agree that coaching has a lot to do with how you play, but, some amount of good coaching can be sacrificed as the talent of the team increases. If you had a team full of Eric Westmorelands, then all you'd really need to win games is a coach with common sense...Now don't get me wrong, a team of Eric Westmorelands with a coach like Colquette could beat a lot of teams outside of their division. But I honestly think if Marion had the talent now that they had back then, they'd be strong contenders for the state championship. Anything can happen, though. AC
  8. I agree, but I think when you compare highschool conferences with college conferences, you run into a HUGE contrast. I think the region champs (which right now is the state championship) should all be matched up in a single elimination bracket, and the last two in the end play for what would be the state chamionship..That way, instead of having A-5A champions, you just have one state champion, like college has one national champion...But the contrast is with college, there's one over-all ranking for the nation. There are no regions, or anything like that...You just play and whoever #1 and #2 is ends up playing in the national championship. I don't believe that highschools could use that format..but, using the regional champs in a bracket format seems like a fairly good idea...It could work..? AC
  9. AC from Marion here. Coach Barger seems like he's done a great job for his first year in Tiptonville..5-3 overall so far, if I'm not mistaken. That's pretty impressive for the first year. 1-3 in the region..not outstanding..could be better, but also could be worse. What needs to improve in the future to make Lake County a top contender? What about the rest of this season? How will Lake County finish out? Do Lake County fans feel like Coach Barger is the right man for the job? If you ask me, don't fix what ain't broken. Any team Coach Barger was a part of would be far from broken. The team has a winning record overall, and that's a great achievement..Something most coaches don't achieve their first year at a new head coaching job...He's a great coach, and that aspect is only surpassed by the amount of sportsmanship, and how great of a person he is. Not only that, he's probably the best teacher/coach I've ever had in class. (Most teacher/coaches end up with P.E., or a class that doesn't require any work. Not only is David a good coach, he's also brilliant in the classroom. I hope you're liking your job coach, 'cuz we miss you here in MC!) AC
  10. Couldn't have been any closer to right than this statement. I agree completely, good call Coach. AC
  11. I'm sorry that you feel that way...Use your reasoning skills dude, I wasn't bashing Pittsurg, they were bashing us. I believe you said it best, don't overlook any team..I was warning them of the same thing you're warning us of. And you say I know nothing about football? I know that Meigs is a game behind Marion in the region, and you're sure to have one more loss against Tyner...How about that for not knowing anything? Do your studying, then get back to me. Until then, Marion 28 Tellico 0 AC
  12. Bill, Keyshawn stands on the sideline during the games...He's out from knee bursitis.
  13. I think what my friend is trying to say here is: true love is blind..No seriously, I understand what Stew is saying, but Stew, we're not looking at nationwide bowl games..We're looking at Statewide bowlgames...TSSAA isn't going to get MBA to go play Brownsville Highschool in Texas...That costs too much money, and it's too big of a hassle for highschool.
  14. Dude has a point, our road record doesn't look too good...Then again, Tellico's over-all record is at a big goose-egg for the win column..Don't flatter yourself Meigs1, you're going to be dissapointed after this one. AC
  15. When's the last time you kept up with Lookout Valley's schedule? It's easy to confuse their wins, because they're few and far between. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this, because I went ahead and shamed you in another post. You should check it out, you might learn something (it's obvious that you haven't so far in life). AC
  16. My bad...I thought LV took that one
  17. Marion County #66 Dustin Paris. I can't even count how many sacs he has this season..He's a playmaker on defense, and gives it his all in the trenches as center. You ask me who's the best player in the SVC...Dustin "Cecil" Paris. AC
  18. I agree Coach Phil. In another thread, I chose that game as the best one ever. Brentwood left their runner-up trophies in the stadium that day...Talk about shell-shocked.. AC
  19. What everybody from Grundy, and Marion has to realize, and Colquette especially needs to realize, is you'd have to want to lose in order to do so with the Marion teams he won his state championships with. Any coach would've won the state championship with the teams Marion had in 90, 92, 94, and 95. They were unstoppable..The only way they wouldn't have have won the championships in those seasons is if the coaches would've made them lay on the couch and eat tater chips all the time...Everyone thinks Colquette won those state championships..He's a great coach, but he didn't play the game. His talented team won those state championships. AC
  20. You're the first one I've heard of that actually acknowledged anyone from Marion County. I remember Brentwood was so shocked, they left their runner-up trophy. And my fault, I said that game was either 94 or 95..it was 92. I stand corrected. AC
  21. Oh yeah, Lookout Valley beat ND. Should be a good one. Good luck. AC
  22. AC. You are way behind in the news and need to be updated on the REAL story about CPA, before you lose respect for them or question the honor of their coaches or program. After blowing out Nashville Christian, McEwen and Ezell, Coach Pack found out one of the bench warmers who played a few minutes after the 3 games were decided in the 4th quarter had played JV basketball at his previous school prior to transferring to CPA and because he had not played football, Coach Pack accidently overlooked the report of the transfer to the TSSAA. This mistake was discovered by Pack and he turned himself in to the TSSAA. He could have ignored it and possibly no one would have ever found out, but he wanted to do the right and honest thing - knowing it might cost him the playoffs. The player in question only played because Pack believes in letting all players play in blowout games and he respects the other teams and coaches too much to do otherwise. If Ezell had put up a better fight, or if Pack wanted to run up the score, the kid wouldn't have played and CPA would still have that game as a victory. If you really kept up with 1A football, you would know that Pack was, and still is, highly respected by all coaches in 1A, his players and their parents. I am very proud to have my son play for him. He believes in winning, but not if it means dishonesty. My apologies. I was under the impression that he had intentionally used an ineligable player...Seeing this topic was weird because I had started it on a different board at about 8:00 last night, and figured it would be the opening post..Apparently it's on a different board, and my post just got stuck in a weird order, so my phrasing was way off..But anyway, CPA is a highly talented team, and you're right, it takes a real man to perform that task. I respect anyone who choses public embarrassment before dishonesty.
  23. Hey Whit, who does Whitwell play this week? AC
  24. AC from Marion County here. CPA forfeits three regular season games to go to 2-3 at this point in the season..one of the forfeited games going to Ezell-Harding, who they beat (and E.H. was undefeated before this game, I might add) last season to play Boyd, and defeated, in the state championship. This was a HUGE shocker for me, as CPA was one of the teams I GREATLY respected. I preached for hours last season on how Ezell-Harding would not beat CPA, and CPA would make it to, and win the state chamionship for their division. Now that I hear about this ineligible player, I lose all respect for their coaching, and team. What do you think? Did they get what they deserve? Was it too little? AC
