  1. Heard he was suspended for "a violation of team rules" concerning an incident before last week's game. Will he play against Hendersonville? How long is the suspension?

    McGavock Raiders

Alzado says change your team colors to SILVER and BLACK, then yall could be real Raiders! Congratulations and good luck.
  3. How about Arnett Bodenhamer. I heard he applied yesterday. McGavock grad, and better football than basketball coach anyway.
  4. Yea, he would have fit in great in Panther land, and he will now too. Maplewood will be coming for you McGavock! Be ready Broome/Spears/other.
  5. Hey Yo, nice poll, but there is only one vote that counts, and that's the vote of the Executive Principal.
  6. Now that the job has been posted, who are the candidates for the head coaching job at McGavock?
  7. 1 Charlie Anderson - a winner everywhere he's been 2 Winston Gamble - 20 wins per year for 20 years (at MPW) 3 Doug Bontrager - does much with little 4 James Shelton - call him what you want, but he's a winner 5 Troy Allen - tough, hard-working
  8. OK, let's clear this up. Stratford has a lot of talent, but they or most any other team, could not defeat Franklin when O'Rourke shoots the 3 like he did. I think Winrow did all he could, and made many adjustments. His team continued to battle back until the final second after being ambushed by a very hot Franklin team. He has won more of these battles than lost, yet can get no respect. Mystery to me. All you bashers are ignorant. Franklin shot the lights out. Harris was great as always, but got little support from Orr, who was dominated inside by Barnes all night. Franklin played really well and has just as much basketball talent as Stratford. Their 1-2, inside-out punch is tough! Give Franklin credit.
  9. This was a great game. The role players really stepped up for both teams. Pellham and Frierson for Maplewood, and Riley Howard and Kemo and Quan Taylor for Stratford. But the beginning of the third quarter was Henry time. Down 14, 15 points, he took over and made his teammates play at his level. His back to back 3's, followed by Howard's 3's ignited the Spartans. Henry makes others around him better more than any player I've seen. OG, don't forget Louis Roberson of Stratford. He had some great teams lead by Joe Campbell, Cory Fleming, Reggie Moore, and Henderson Kelly.
  10. The championship game was great. Both squads played their butts off. Game goes back and forth to the buzzer. Henry and Bubba are both special talents and fierce competitors. Good luck to both teams next week.
  11. Hey CobraFan, I realize that Wright, Bodenhamer, and Simms are young and somewhat inexperienced. (But they did defeat Nollner, Collins, and Mangrum in the first round, all of which have MANY years experience.) Even though you could say that the 11-AAA coaches may have an edge over those young guys, you can't include Stratford's Winrow in this group. He has had 20+ win seasons for 4 years in a row, never finished below 2nd during the regular season in those past 4 years, has been the regional coach-of-the-year twice, lead his team to the final four of the state tourney (and was robbed or they would have been in the finals), and has been selected to coach the Tennessee TACA All-Stars vs. Georgia. Additionally, his players play hard, are tough as nails, and have class. What else does the man have to do? Also, the man that pulled off the big upset in 11-AAA was a 12-AAA coach for 25 years. He was dealt a team with practically nothing and knocked off the Hicks in a hurry. Furthermore, I predict another 12-AAA sweep next week! 12-AAA has always dominated. Nothing is different with the new breed of coaches.
  12. *Glencliff may struggle, but can Antioch beat them? Glencliff has too much firepower. Antioch's only shot would be to slow the game and pound the post, but Glencliff's press will negate that *Hunters Lane will upset Maplewood. Remember, Sewell and HL knocked Stratford out last season in the district. *McGavock has had a great season, but Coach Nollner is heck at tournament time. Upset game??? *Stratford is peeking at the right time. 8 wins in a row coming into the district. Stratford wins this one. These are the best games because they end somebody's season.
  13. Congratulations Coach Gamble. Good luck Tuesday night. If anyone can lead his team to the upset, it's you.
  14. AAA Henry Harris Stratford Watch him lead his team, like a coach on the floor. If more selfish, would average 30 per game. True team player, no weaknesses, excels at every aspect of the game.
  15. Yea maybe, but what about all the private school vultures and their B.S., lies, and promises that are seeking these kids. There could have been a private school meeting during this tournament with all the scumbags in attendance.
  16. Hunters Lane's Head Coach Anthony Sewell (Tennessee) and assistant Todd Lark (Cincinnati) can both still play, and play at a high level.
  17. You better just worry about the green people at your 'wood and leave Maplewood alone. By the way, be prepared for some serious problems if you don't leave the kids at G-M alone Paschal is a good guy, but you showed your ignorance with that comment. And what qualifies you to criticize B? You're a legend in your own mind, a joke to all others.
  18. In Nashville, East Lit is the best team I've seen. Much talent, play together well, and well coached.
  19. The reason he took himself out of the game and left the building against Stratford was because the best player in Nashville, Henry Harris, was d-ing him up and he couldn't score. Henry played him straight up, man to man, and stopped him. As for the busted lip, it was minor and he could have returned but he didn't want to, Henry was waiting for him. And he did leave the building before the game ended. That's a shame and a disgrace.
  20. Guess you spent too much time on the playground and not enough time in class. How can you comment on middle school teachers/coaches when it is obvious from your post that you never reached middle school. Is the English language a foreign concept to you?
  21. WHAT'S THE SCOOP? WHO ARE THE FINALISTS?
  22. Henry Harris and Red Wilkerson STRATFORD
  23. You people at Hillwood don't deserve Coach Gamble! He is one of the finest coaches I have ever encountered. He has averaged more than 20 wins per year for 20 years! The problem at Hillwood is that you have a mix of undisciplined kids and some soft mama's boys who have never been coached before, never worked before. What tough kid would go crying to mama and daddy that the new coach said we stink? Yea, he likes Moreland, because he is the only tough kid on the team. He is Coach Gamble's type of kid ... blue collar, hard-nosed worker. Who else on that roster can play defense, rebound, or fights for loose balls ... none of them. They are soft. He is trying to do the impossible. You people keep bitchin and complaining and you may get your wish ... another loser coach like you had. Coach Gamble undertook this challenge after being courted by the Hillwood administration and AD. How can you people criticize this man? The only ball handler he has is ineligible. The only scorers have been dismissed because they were turds. Davis had some talented losers. Coach Gamble is trying to create winners. Give him support or you deserve to lose him. Coach G, don't forget the year you won the district (12-AAA, the toughest in the state) with 9 players after the others quit because they lacked heart. You perservered, stood your ground for what's right, ignored ignorant parents, and made champions out of 9 average kids that refused to quit and believed in you. Those kids loved you ... after the season was over.
  24. Joseph "Frog" Campbell Stratford High 1985-87 Graduated from Stratford as the all-time leading rusher in the history of Nashville, lead the Spartans to their first playoff appearance ever, dominated even though every opponent focused solely on stopping him, also excelled on defense and special teams, he even played noseguard on goalline defense at 160 pounds! Greatest, fiercest competitor I've ever seen. Went on to be a 2 time All-American at MTSU and is still their all-time leading rusher. Played professionally for years, and is now coaching at Hunters Lane.
  25. saturday's games Whites Creek vs. Hunters Lane 5:30 for 3rd place Glencliff vs. Stratford 8:30 for 1st place
