  1. Don't know how you say they are clearly best team in district when they only beat Bradley by 6. I would think Bradley is about the 5th best team in district behind the likes of Cleveland, Walker Valley, and McMinn. From what I've seen so far everyone better look out for the Lady Mustangs.
  2. They didn't run out of gas, they were just outcoached. McMinn will have a 3 on 1 fast break and it never fails at least one of girls will just drift to 3 point line instead of taking easy layup. McMinn just puts 4 girls around the 3 point line and then tries to dish ball inside to Harris who is double covered. They have almost no offensive movement. Everything they do is based on 1 on 1. Way too much talent to be underperforming like they are doing. If the object is to get ball down low to Harris at least take some pressure off of her by putting in the Crittenden girl so they can't front and back her all night. Lady Cherokees have a long way to go to get where they need to be. Good news is the talent is there for at least one more year.
  3. going to college? Was he a senior? Very good player.
  4. mention that head coach gets around $100,000 is this true? How much do assistant football coaches make at private schools such as Baylor?
  5. I predict alot of turnovers and missed shots, neither team is very good. I say Sweetwater wins by 7.
  6. True, I did mean that district. Anyway, there are going to be some battles.
  7. My bad, got Georgia on my mind.
  8. Actually, Jackie may win it now that Cait is hurt. If she is truly deserving of the honor it will show this year as that region is a monster. Cumberland County, Cleveland, Walker Valley, McMinn, and Bradley can play with anyone in state. Here's wishing Jackie a great season!
  9. Stone Mountain- new school in Crossville.
  10. AD is a friend of mine, great people to work for at Tellico. They are a AA school playing up to AAA (for travel reasons I suppose). Not much speed at all on team and that hurts them in every game. They do have several players returning that have been two-three year starters, but I think someone would have to plan on building the program over time. Talent tends to run in cycles at small schools such as this. Best of luck to Tellico and all that apply.
  11. Do you really think Quarles would win 10 games a year if he was coach at Red Boiling Springs? If you don't think talent has something to do with it then there is no use in discussing. I agree that Quarles is a great coach, my point was that wins and losses don't define who is great and who's not as easy in high school as in college. In high school you coach the players that are in your zone. 95% of the time the team with the most talent will win. Also, I didn't say this was a thread on who is best coach- I just stated that I hate seeing so many on these boards as it almost always lists the same three or four guys whose schools have far and away more talent than many others.
  12. Supplement is $3000. They pay it over 10 months in a separate check.
  13. No, I think I'll leave that to someone else. What about you? Has Brandon considered applying?
  14. Coach resigned to pursue other opportunities.
  15. Rumor is that he may have opportunity to be Superintendant or Asst. Superintendant at Rhea County. The people at Bradley should be begging Coach Bennett to take the job. He's a class act and a very good coach. It's going to take anyone a few years to turn program around. Just have to be patient.
  16. Coach resigned, wanted to pursue other opportunities.
  17. I'm not an Alcoa fan. I simply stated in another thread that Alcoa should win by 21 and I was called crazy by TynerRamFan. Nothing disrespectful to either side. I was asked my reasoning and I said that I felt like Tyner had as many athletes every year as the teams that put them out, but every time they play a team with equal talent they lose. To me that comes down to coaching. Tyner runs alot of plays that work when playing inferior talent, but these plays don't work when playing a team with equal athletes. Good luck in the future to both teams.
  18. How do you like your crow? I told you I wasn't that crazy. Tyner once again was outcoached, not surprising as it happens every year.
  19. TynerRamFan Just be sure you come by to get your crow dinner Friday night after the game. In all seriousness, best of luck as I really don't care who wins.
  20. The facts- 1) Tyner loses to everyone that has equal or better athletes as they always get outcoached. 2) Alcoa has better athletes on the whole than Tyner, even though Tyner does have some special athletes. 3) The only reason Tyner is in final four is because they haven't played anyone with nearly equal athletes yet. 4) I may be crazy, but Alcoa will still win by 21+ points.
  21. Even Walker Valley beat Brainerd. Only win of year for them, yet Tyner lost by two touchdowns to same team. Go figure, yes Tyner was much better last year. Alcoa by 21 or more.
  22. I completely agree, but how many top teams are there that have very little talent? I agree you must have a coach to harness talent, but if you don't have any talent it doesn't matter how good the coach is.
  23. "Boyd would have drilled Polk last year. By the way that was LAST YEAR. Polk would have finished in 3rd in the region this year, maybe 4th." That's funny. Polk returned 18 starters this year, how do you figure they would have finished 3rd or 4th in region? It took Tyner stopping Polk on 4th and goal from the 2 to just beat them last year. Also, I think Tyner was better last year with Rutley in lineup. Also, I didn't say anything about how good/bad BB was last year- you need to reread my post.
