  1. Thanks for the post! Please keep us up to date on how the tournament goes.
  2. Feel free to post any/all local district+ tournament information you find out. TSSAA State Tournament Schedule Tournament Directors and Sites
  3. Wow! Sounds like Loretto is still packing heat. I'm eager to see what you have for us, PageMan. Loretto, I would think, is favored to see regional action. Should be a good insight into a district we don't hear a lot of noise from.
  4. I can confirm that Community is district host this year.
  5. He is one of the funniest people I've ever run into on a volleyball court. I hope he never retires and becomes a fixture in Tullahoma volleyball. Wait, he already is! I always enjoy having Bill on my court. You can always pick out which kid in the crowd is his!
  6. Siegel #2- Stephanie Cutter (great hands!), ER #22- Laura Brock, Siegel #5- Amanda Horenkamp, FR #33- Emily Teegarden (sp?)
  7. I almost posted this same question earlier. Therefore, I will bite. A- Germantown (1), Blackman B- Siegel (1), Eagleville C- Father Ryan (1), LaVergne/Ootlewah (depending on how they each play) D- DCA/Collierville/Riverdale (don't know how Collierville is this year) E- Cookeville/East Ridge (how well they play determines #1.. will be a good match) Should be a good opportunity to see teams we read about, but don't see often.
  8. Not all tournaments necessarily have all-tournament teams.
  9. Never heard of a MS team playing in a high school (albeit JV) tournament. Make no mistake though, Page MS fields a pretty good team and is likely to suprise some folks.
  10. That's gonna be one hot match! Page had better come loaded for bear.
  11. WOW! Congrats to Siegel for doing what few TN teams can claim in the last several years. Did Parrot somehow return early? Was Brentwood playing flat? Game scores? Fill us in!!! ComPassion- I love that pic AND the caption. I'm probably the most humored out of anyone that sees it.
  12. Gonna be a really good match! Provided that Page plays their 'A' game, the edge goes to them. Could go either way depending on who's on.
  13. For the record- HS Tri- 25-25-25 HS Single/Dual- 25-25-25-25-15 Most MS- 25-25-15 Metro MS- 21-21-15 HS Tournaments- by adoption, but most are 25-25-15 MS Tournaments- by adoption, but most are 25-25 pool, 25-25-15 elimination JV (all)- 25-25-15 Some conferences (MS and non-TSSAA) adopt their own variations, but this is, for the most part, how it's supposed to be!!
  14. Congrats on the good wins, bruinfam. Regular season 3rd games in HS go to 25 here as well. JV 3rd games go to 15.
  15. Quite frankly, I'm not sure. We don't get a whole lot of data on matches out of that district (used to courtesy of PageMan, but Page got moved from that district) and even if we did, I feel we'd have a hard time really comparing notes. Summertown and Loretto usually make good benchmarks for that area, as they are best known. The only schools I'm aware of that compete much outside the district are Culleoka and Summertown- and that's at tournaments. It's been an interesting year with district realignments, and as always happens this time of year, the plot will continue to thicken.
  16. In certain parts of the state, I regret that I must agree with you. In other areas, this is not usually true. All I'll say about that (to continue, put it in the "Different Region, Different Call" thread on the main board).
  17. I have a sneaking suspicion that Community won. Shelbyville actually provides pretty decent coverage of volleyball down there. It looks like they run a few days behind getting it put online, but complete with an occasional photo, here's the link.
  18. I'm completely speechless. Even after being shown the rulebook?! Amazing. Simply amazing.
  19. If it is something you would permit, I'd like to have the option.
  20. I'll do myself (and other posters) a favor by shutting this thread down before it even gets started. Before posting on the volleyball forum again, read the Board Courtesy thread.
  21. In a nod to PageMan, I've tabulated the final points earned/allowed, games won/lost, and matches won/lost. PageMan, you do a lot more for volleyball fans than I ever realized. I have a new appreciation for what you do. Thanks again!!
  22. And the growls before Brentwood's serves! I got a real kick out of that whole group of dads. The final was spectacular. The first game (27-25 Brentwood) was maybe one of the best technically played single games of volleyball EVER played. Ball handling was nearly flawless, attacks were smooth, digs were great, ball chasing was amazing, and efforts were exhaustive. In 30+ years of officiating, one of the most senior officials in the state said it was perhaps the best single game she'd EVER seen or watched (and she's had some excellent collegiate matches over the years). Same official noted a single play: This is a true rarity in our sport. Taylor Parrish had a kill that can not be described any other way besides the fact. Brentwood floated a ball over (big mistake) that Taylor promptly crushed. She jumped very high and just hammered it. And where did it land, you ask? If the floor was measured and marked in precise measurements, it landed at the foot of a Brentwood player at approximately the FOUR FOOT LINE. The ball was spiked almost straight down! To paraphrase what the official said, her eyes widened (read: popped open) and gave her partner one of those "Did you just see that?!" looks. THAT, in 30+ years of doing volleyball, was a first. (Wording is mine, but facts are at face value.) Although HH lost the final, I want to say thanks to Brentwood and Harpeth Hall for a real treat. It was one of the best matches, and especially that first game, that this fan, official, line judge, and spectator has ever seen regardless of level or what's on the line. Taylor & Co. fought for, and almost took away, a game from Brentwood. The tournament was well thought out, well organized, and as always, well enjoyed. Until next year...
