  1. I don't really disagree with anything you've said here but just want to make an observation. I think statements like these could be what ruffles some feathers in the CHS community at times. The phrase "legit shot" might be true, and would probably be agreed with by many especially if using it to imply 4A basketball is even harder for a rural school (even one with 2200 kids) to win in. I think some might take it as a shot at coaching, or the kids in general (and i'm sure you aren't implying that). Sadly , CHS was done a disservice when the powers that be decided to make it a huge school. This means ultimately now that they have to drive an hour to find a district opponent. And it means they have to play other huge schools that aren't as "rural" to get to the glass house. (BTW, i'm not saying baxter has it easy either..especially in 3A now. Clearly they've built a winning culture there.) Hopefully this team can break the mold and do something no CHS boys team has ever done. Go Cavs.
  2. Lack of talent? Complete guess here on my part.
  3. 18-3 might be the best start in school history. That was a big win Wednesday night vs LaVergne. I was really impressed with the Wolverines.
  4. some of these results have been wild. I would have thought It was Beech and Green Hill way ahead of everyone else. That is why games aren't played on paper.
  5. ding dongs are a hostess brand chocolate cake-like dessert. Maybe that was what they filled up on. All that cream filling will make you sick!
  6. why do you think they have a required seating capacity ? You'll say so fans have a seat. fans = money. they make each district submit multiple sites so they can choose the one they see fit. aka... the one where the most fans don't have to travel far ..... aka... $. I'm aware of the rules. Nothing I said was wrong.
  7. Good luck with that.... all the T$$AA cares about is money. They will let any school host it as long as they think they are getting the best gate. For the record I agree with you. In a perfect world all tournament games starting in the region would be neutral site. But that isn't going to stuff the pockets of said organization.

  9. good game between two good teams last night. Lady Cavs switching to the zone seemed to slow York down a little bit and allowed CHS to fight back and take the lead. Still a lot of talented youth (although some experience from last year) at the guard spots for Cookeville. They will only keep getting better. I thought the difference was just York clearly had the best player on the court.
  10. Might as well just open up legal recruiting for everyone.
  11. You are right, I'm sorry and wrong. baxter boys are the best team in the state. This is a girls basketball thread. Can we stop now?
  12. I am as well. I think we all are as fans. Heck that is what makes it fun sometimes.
  13. We've been through most of this before. 1. baxter will not play Cookeville in basketball. You stated your mind won't be convinced. Is what it is. 2. baxter would not "dominate" in boys basketball. It would be a very even series through the years. It would be competitive now although i'd argue CHS boys are better this year. 3. the exodus you refer too has already happened. we've been through this in other threads. how Upperman is not "baxter high" and yada yada yada. That is fine. I don't think talent will be flooding that way like it has in the past. Do you want to keep going or can we drop it since this thread is about how sparta girls won't play CHS?
  14. Tell me you are biased without telling me you are biased. The thread has now become another baxter/Cookeville thread. I think we all know how this is about to go...
  15. I disagree. I think it would be such a great rivalry. I really think it would be very even across the years between both boys and girls basketball. Very competitive games . We could play 1 game a year at the Hoop. Split gate. How cool would that be? But , sadly, it doesn't seem to be in the cards with those currently in charge of these things. Maybe one day we can have a good baxter/cookeville rivalry to replace the one we lost in sparta when they quit playing us!
  16. I feel like I've said this several times over the years. My understanding was always that "Mindy & Dana" were the reason for no baxter/Cookeville games. As in , I was constantly told by people who should know that the girls coaches didn't want to play each other. I don't know if it was more one sided or not. I don't know why they wont play each other now. new girls and boys coaches hired at CHS in the last several years. But not at baxter. I'm not insinuating anything but people draw conclusions ya know... Anyway , Go Lady Cavs.
  17. I wasn't there but I was told we beat Livingston in a scrimmage. You can laugh all you want to. Hide behind your Lol's and your emojis. When it comes down to it, everyone knows.
  18. Great season Cavs. Good luck to Riverdale moving forward. We lose our best football player in Mason Taylor. Also graduating will be 7 or 8 other starters. (only a couple were really 2 way players like Taylor) Really proud that senior class took that step forward this year. Solid core returning including our best OLineman, Quarterback, Running Back, and several skill guys. Excited for the future.
  19. I ultimately do think Riverdale wins. They are just at a different place in their program. Let me say how proud I am of my Cavaliers this year...they have made tremendous strides. If the Cavs want to have a chance, they will need to play keep-away and run the clock. They have the type of offense to try it. They have really been able to run it on everyone they've played this year. This , obviously, is a different test. I'd love to see us shock the world!
  20. Well, I hate to say I told ya so..... but I told ya so. Where the haters at? When I tell you its a given, its a given. @jhawk23 @eers @thegreatone36
  21. Hey we are 11-8 in home playoff games since 2001 thank you very much. That is a winning record . As far as I can tell , Siegel has only won 1 playoff game on the road so I'd say if anything History is very much on my side here. So yea, I'm awfully confident.
  22. write it down, mark my words, etc. Cavs move on. Listen, that is great that the stars decided to play Beech and get drilled. Good for them. And they hung in there with Hendersonville. Well done. Aren't they on their backup QB? Cavs by fiddy
  23. I think its a "given". Write it down. Cavs have all the momentum in the world and those guys don't want to stop playing football together. What a turnaround. Credit the coaching staff for sure but what a job by those players to buy in and keep working. The last few years have been rough so that has to be gratifying for those seniors and juniors.
