  1. WHAT? There went your credibility. DCA beat CPA at their place, 28-7(really should've been 35-7). How can you condone saying CPA is better?
  2. DCA beats Wayne County tonight 38-16. Wayne County definately kept this a good football game for 3 quarters. -DCA took the opening kick and Wooden finished the drive with a five yard TD run. The drive was highlighted by a beautiful 33 yard run by Jim Fenwich on 3rd and 8. -Wayne County ran the triple option and picked up small chunks of yardage against an unusually porous DCA defense. C.J. Hammack broke loose and nearly scored before the ball was knocked out and recovered inside the DCA 3. Fenwich slipped and fell in the endzone and was downed for a safety. Wayne County scored on what I believe was their first pass of the night to Hammack out of the backfield for a 20 yard touchdown. 8-7 Wayne County after 1. -DCA drove down the field again and Wooden capped with a great 15 yard TD run. Wooden appeared to be sandwiched in the backfield but somehow manuevered out, sprinted to the corner and dove to the house. -DCA stopped Wayne County on a 4th down and drove deep in WC territory on a long run by Ryan Fields. Wayne County stopped DCA on a fourth down, though, and it was 13-8 at halftime. -DCA smashed Jo Ruddle in the backfield and recovered his fumble on WC's first second quarter possession. DCA came back with a very long run by Wooden, and Wooden finished it off with a TD plunge. -WC came back and scored on a Ruddle TD lunge after Ruddle took an option 50 yards to DCA territory. They fake the extra point and threw a conversion pass to Nutt. 21-16. -DCA came right back with a 30 yard TD pass from Fenwich to Austin Garrett. 28-16. -Wooden finished his night with another TD run and a FG finished the game's scoring. Final is 38-16 and i'll be back with stats.
  3. Yep, the same Cascade team that a week ago, region 6 fans said could challenge DCA. The same Cascade team that came within an inch of beating Mount Pleasant. Yep, that same team.
  4. Apparently, you didn't pay attention to the game as well as you should have. Jim Fenwich, DCA's QB had the following stats: 8 attempts, 8 completions, 273 yards and 4 Touchdowns. Nope, Its not always the best bet.
  5. Then they have a serious probem. DCA's line is bigger, older, and more talented than DA's. No one has been able to run on them all year. As an example, CPA's Luke Landers has averaged about 120-150 yards a ballgame on limited carries(CPA runs from the shotgun, and Landers gets far fewer carries than someone who averages that many yards usually would). DCA held him to zero yards and the CPA team to -2 yards rushing as a whole. I also know that Wayne's QB, Ruddle is a talented runner, and the closest thing DCA has faced to him was probably Luke Jerkins from NCS, who did pretty well against DCA. So I don't know Ruddle will factor in this game in regards to how DCA plans to stop him. Either way, Wayne County had better plan on adding some variety to their offense if they plan on pulling this out.
  6. Haven't seen MP play this year, but they had better be ready for a Fun 'n' Gun offense from CPA. They play totally from the shotgun and are darn good at it. They have a tremendous amount of speed and play totally two platoon, so they will have a great depth advantage. CPA, however, has shown a weakness against the run, which appears to be(from reading some about MP) the Tigers offensive strength. Close game and I actually won't predict a winner at the risk of looking like a fool because this game could go a lot of different ways. EDIT: Question: Have these two teams ever played each other?
  7. Region 5 will once again overcome. DCA has too many athletes at the skill positions and way too much size on the line. DCA 38-Wayne 14
  8. Exaclty, QuikPik, but public school complainers don't listen to that, they just keep complaining.
  9. DCA wins easily against Cascade, 42 to 7. Here are some notes. -DCA QB Jim Fenwich was a perfect 8 for 8 with 273 yards and 4 TDs in his best passing performance of the season. He would also account for a fifth TD rushing. -After Cascade punted the ball down to the DCA one, Fenwich opened the scoring with a 99 yard bomb on DCA's first play from scrimmage to Justin Hall. Fenwich dropped into his own endzone and threw a perfect spiral 55 yards to a streaking Hall who raced untouched for the score. -After holding Cascade again, Fenwich directed another drive and finished it with a bootleg for a TD from the 5. -Cascade actually drove to the DCA 40 on the next drive before a FG try was blocked by Austin Garrett. Fenwich completed two more beatiful 20+ yard passes to Hall and Garrett before Sophomore fullback Tyler Acker finished off the drive with a TD plunge. -On DCA's next possession, Fenwich hit tight end Reagan Ingram on a 28 yard TD pass. Fenwich took the snap with an empty backfield and threw another perfect ball(notice a pattern?) right over the arm of a defender into the breadbasket of Ingram who backpetaled into the endzone. -Fenwich would hit Garrett for 2 more TD passes before it was over. DCA played very well although had some tought times with Cascade QB David Gallagher who is a talented player. DCA moves on the play Wayne County next week.
  10. #6's brother is M.J. Garrett, the all-time leading receiver at DCA and former Vanderbilt wideout. He is on Real World this season.
  11. My post earlier didn't mean to indicate that I think DCA could beat Riverdale by any means, Eagle, I was just responding to the guy that said DCA couldn't compete with Maryville and Riverdale by giving him something to think about. Doesn't mean I necessarily believe it.
  12. Riverdale beat CPA by 20 at home, which was by far their closest game this year DCA beat CPA by 21 at CPA Just some fruit for thought.
  13. 1A-DCA 2A-Lipscomb 3A-AE 4A-Maryville 5A-Riverdale
  14. Mount Pleasant shouldn't have much trouble with them. They are quite a step behind the top 3 teams in Region 5.
  15. Like I said, I left at halftime and the only people playing were Sophomores and Freshmen. Very few regular starters even played. And the ones that did were out fast. By the way, I don't believe Fields is a starter. Wooden wasn't playing so he started for him and only was in for a few plays while I was there. Fields has only started one other game this year, one when Wooden wasn't playing. Either that newspaper thing was a typo or Goodwin put Fields in again in the 3rd quarter. But like I said, I was already gone. PS: By the way, the paper still said he(Fields) only had 2 carries so I doubt that anything unsportsmanly was intended.
  16. DCA ended their season at 10-0 last night in a glorified junior varsity game last night against Grace Christian Academy. I left at halftime. I didn't even bother to post about it until now. I personally think an out of state game or a game against a better opponent would have been better. -DCA's upperclassmen played 2 series at the beginning of the game, scored 21 points in the first five minutes, then left the rest of the game to the freshmen and sophomores. -Many of DCA's starters weren't even dressed out to play and those who were played limited snaps like I mentioned earlier. -Chris Wooden obviously didn't play, and his backup, Junior Ryan Fields had a statline that reflected the game perfectly-2 carries, 94 yards and a touchdown, and the other carry was actually a touchdown on the opening offensive play that was called back. -Sophomore Fullback Tyler Acker carried the ball 5 times for 92 yards and a 41 yard touchdown. I thought it was worth posting since DCA is now 10-0 and is the #1 seed in the West bracket of 1A.
  17. 1)They play a terrible schedule. 2)They ARE in a weak region. Every year Region 6 is pummelled in the playoffs by Region 5. 3)Why would they be in the top ten in the state if they aren't even the best in Class A?
  18. Whew, I just got back from this game. I understand that this game was closer than some posters are letting on, but DCA played awesome tonight and this win was a total team effort. CPA is no slouch though and they played right with DCA until DCA scored 21 in the second quarter. -CPA was held to -2 yards rushing and DCA had 230 yards on the ground. That was the ball game right there. -DCA had two great interception in the second quarter and controlled the time of possession in the second half. -Chris Wooden got 22 carries for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Not great, but steady and they were very hard earned yards. Considering he was held to 18 yards in the first game last year before having a career game against them in the playoffs, its perfectly adequate. -CPA threw almost exclusively even when the game was close. They gained 164 yards total. They tried some direct snaps and flea flickers to keep DCA guessing but could get nothing going. Luke Landers had ZERO yards. They should've tried him more. -Fenwick had a very good night and was the MVP of the game, IMO. Some big scrambles to go along with the big, backbreaking run. He was 6 for 12 for 83 yardss and a touchdown through the air. -The biggest problem CPA faces now is that they will have to go through Mount Pleasant, who thrashed Wayne County tonight and is undefeated, just to get a rematch with DCA. And with this victory, DCA has clinched the #1 seed. Good night everybody, I enjoyed it.
  19. bigcountryhick06......DCA actually sent CPA home "crying" because they won the game in the playoffs against CPA. Do your research before you talk smack.
  20. I had no idea he was a senior, my apologies. I guess it must be Harrison.
  21. Since I have nothing better to do, I think I'll further analyze: CPA Run Offense Vs. DCA Run Defense-Landers is a speedy tailback, Harrison is a good fullback, and CPA is good at picking up chunks of yardage by spreading the field and using draws and using dump passes to their backs as long handoffs. But they will be facing a very large and athletic defensive front with a D1 prospect leading it. No one has been able to run on them this year and DCA's pass rush heavily affects the opposition's passing game. Landers will get most of his yards by pass catching because no one runs up the middle on DCA's line. EDGE:DCA CPA Pass Offense vs DCA Pass Defense-As good as DCA's line is, I think the strength of their defense is the secondary and linebacking corps. Their secondary lacks size and thats a real disadvantage against Sikes, but they are very fast, are hard hitters, and were successful against Sikes last year. DCA played one team that relies as much on the pass as CPA this year in Jackson Christian. DCA recorded 4 interceptions and ran one back for a Touchdown. CPA has a D1 prospect as their go to guy, however, and their pass offense is not the same as the one DCA played against last year. I believe it is more similar to the Ezell spread offense of 3 years ago. DCA may hold it at bay for a while, but Pollock and Sikes WILL get their numbers. EDGE:CPA DCA Run Offense vs. CPA Run Defense: This is, with all due respect to CPA the easiest of the matchups to handicap. DCA has a monster offensive line and they are averaging about 10 yards per carry as a team. Wooden himself has averaged as much as 25 yards per carry in some games. He hasn't, however gotten more than 20 carries all year and that was by far his most carries in a game. He will undoubtedly carry the load against the Lions, but DCA weilds more weapons in the running game this season than last. Last year, they were a one man offense;this year, they are somewhat of a committee with a focal point(Wooden). Ryan Fields has averaged about 20 yards per carry in the last 3 games and is the speedy change of pace to Wooden's pound and ground. Fenwich, the quarterback, is a great athlete has evolved into a run/pass dual threat and DCA likes to use designed runs for him. CPA's defense is suffering from injuries and they have struggled to stop the run all year. EDGE:DCA DCA Pass Offense vs CPA Pass Defense: This is the most difficult to handicap. DCA's aerial game has improve drammatically since last year. They don't use it like CPA; they use their run to set up the pass by play action. Fenwich has shown that he can throw a beautiful deep ball and , while CPA has one great wideout in Sikes, DCA has two very solid one in Garrett and Hall. Their All-State tight-end is also a very good pass catcher. DCA uses the the screen pass to its wideouts as well. CPA had trouble against Ezell stopping the pass, and DCA will surely test them through the air. This one is a total guess, but I have to say...... EDGE: Slightly to DCA Special Teams: DCA has used two kickers this year and have a punter who can absolutely boom it out of orbit. DCA has only returned one kick for a toucdown this year. Luke Landers of CPA is a marvelous kick returner and returned two kicks for scores just last week. The kicking game is even, but Landers by himself is the tiebreaker here. EDGE: CPA Coaching:Goodwin is the dean of coaches in Region 5 and Jay Mathews has never faced DCA or Chris Wooden before. EDGE:DCA Homefield:They Den is as tough a place to play as any in the state. EDGE: CPA Schedule: As Divepix said earlier, CPA has a much tougher non-region schedule, but DCA has done considerably better against common opponents. DCA's toughest opponent is No.6-Ranked Jackson Christian. DCA handed them their only loss in a systematic 28-7 spanking. CPA put 28 on RIVERDALE. That alone gives them the edge, here and then some. EDGE:CPA Prediction=.........DCA 24-CPA 24............. You actually want me to pick a winner?
