  1. Good luck to the Cats. Wish I was able to skip work and watch another squad in the 'Boro. If our guys can box out, rebound, and be smart, we could pull the "impossible." They just can't get intimidated and realize they belong in the final eight as much as the other seven teams do. At this point in time, your record, where your big stars are going to college, and who you've beat before doesn't matter. It's a brand new season, and anything can happen.
  2. Great effort by the Cats tonight. There's no better feeling than winning the ones that matter. 2-25 or 27-0, there's only four wins that matter: Sub-State, Elite Eight, Final Four, and the Championship. This team has the opportunity to make some noise if they get more active on the defensive boards. Box out, guys. Shot selection was good tonight. Really impressed with the intensity on D in the second half. It couldn't have happened to a better coach, either. Coach Franks is a great dude and he deserves all the success. Morris and Lance make for a great supporting cast too.
  3. All it takes it four quarters of good basketball to get to the ultimate destination. Playing one more at the house helps. There's no way a Coach Franks squad won't be mentally and physically prepared for Monday night.
  4. Sounds like it's an incredible game at half so far.
  5. As a part of the Wayne County team during CPA's sub-state runs of 04-05, it was a blast going to y'alls school and playing two years in a row. Wayne Co/CPA played two great games, splitting one each, and we were treated very well. Those two games are something that'll I'll remember forever.
  6. PC Fans having no class? Shocker. Blaming everything on someone else and waiting for next season: A new PC tradition.
  7. Congrats to Coach Franks and the Cats. Close games with Culleoka and PC is just like the olden days.
  8. 1A wise, for the sames I saw, they really wasn't calling a lot of loose ball calls like backside. And they wouldn't even come close to calling hand checks or holds, say for instance, when being pressured while dribbling up the court. In the Wayne Co/Clay Co game they called everything that wasn't fouls and didn't call any fouls, even when they looked right at the play. It didn't make any sense. But they were calling good charges and blocks. All in all, I guess the reffing to me was about 50/50 as always
  9. Well, technically, the score would have been different had we not put the reserves in to let them have a reward of playing on the Murphy Center floor for a year of hardwork. They scored at least 6-10 points right there during that spot, making the score higher. But depth killed Wayne County, you just can't play a high tempo game with a six, seven man rotation unless you're freakishly athletic. Union City is a good team, and I wasn't knocking anyone. All I was saying was in response to all the people who said Wayne County didn't belong and that we were garbage.
  10. I thought we were going to do it, guys. It looked good in the first half, we were showing Union City and everyone who said we were garbage that we belonged in the Boro for the second straight year. Union City is a good team no doubt, but we gave them a good first half. Just nothing you can do when a team like that gets hot to open the half. They were good, but they're going to get more than they bargained for with Grace tomorrow, they were very impressive. I liked the way they played today against Humbolt. I could get on here and say a lot of stuff about it's easy to win when you used to be 2a and everything, but we gave ya'll a whole heck of a lot better game than anyone else thought we would, even to the point of taking the lead. We just didn't execute shots and play 32 whole minutes of basketball. For a team no one gave any hope for at the beginning of the season, I couldn't be more proud of the guys from Wayne County...What a heck of a four years that was. Two-straight Final Four appearances Three-straight sub-state games Region championship Two Region Runners-Up Two Straight District championships District third place and this year District runners-up That's an impressive resume for four years of hard work. It was great being along for the ride. The number one fans, and you guys know who the real number one fans were, are proud of each and every one of ya'll...From the starters to the managers, thanks for a great season and some awesome memories this year.
  11. What's this I'm reading? Wayne County is garbage and they should only be watching the games from the stands? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa big man. Wayne County is in Murfreesboro for the second straight year for a reason. We deserve to be. We've played some great teams and some great ball this season when nobody thought we'd do anything with the loss of three main players and a heck of a manager last year. To say we don't belong and that we're garbage is a joke, because we're the only single A team this year to make it two years in a row I do believe. Last year against Peabody wasn't a blowout. I was there, Doaks and crew played great, which is why he's at Tenn-Chattanooga, and he made the difference in the game. It wasn't a blowout, we played them solid and could have won had we changed some things and etc. It's easy to talk crap about being so awesome when you come from 2A down to "lowly" ol' single A. Wayne County is not garbage, not this year, or last year(the best year in WCHS history). We've not lost more than nine games in a season since Franks has come in, so you'd better check some stats before you call us garbage. No 30 point blowout tomorrow. No 20 point blowout. Only a tight game.
  12. Nobody's shutting CJ Hammack down. It's one of those things in life like the grass always being green and the sky blue. It's not going to change. Wayne County can play with that team, we didn't play our best game against Clay County, and I'm sure this is the only game most people are judging us by. I know for a fact my boys are coming out tomorrow as a different team. I was with them last year, I know what type of routine they had last year, and I know they're in a gym right now working hard and getting themselves ready. So Union City doesn't need to be clearing space in a trophy case back home for a gold/silver ball just yet. We've beaten all the teams we weren't supposed to beat in situations we weren't supposed to overcome. I wouldn't put anything past Coach Franks and Coach Morris, especially when you get a motivated Daniel Doyle and CJ Hammack on the court. #23 and #40 aren't weak links. In fact, AJ Bell #23 sealed the game against Clay County yesterday for the record. So everyone needs to stop hating on AJ, he contributes with hustle plays, scoring isn't the only stat to look at. And #40 Daniel Warren comes off the bench for AJ and supplies a solid 5-10 points, including a big time pressure defense. Hammonds #44 is going to have to have a better game tomorrow than he did Wednesday, he just wasn't playing like himself, but I know he'll change it around. And you're talking about us having no other ball handlers, #10 Andy Beckham is one of the best dribblers in terms of handling skills Wayne County's had in a while, it's just CJ runs the point and he's so fast. Wayne County has everything needed to pull the upset, it's just a matter of doing the little things and getting the job done. I'm not writing my boys off like everyone else. Anything can happen in the Murphy Center.
  13. Keep talking. Union City looked impressive for sure, and they're nothing to diss, but seriously, Cloudland looked like they didn't even belong in the State Tournament the way they came out and played today. I guarantee the game's going to be closer Friday morning than Union City's game with Cloudland was. I'm proud of my boys, they hung in there with some badly missed calls on both sides of the ball for both teams. Seemed like the refs for our game called calls that weren't fouls, and didn't call stuff that were fouls. Clay County was a good team, and well, here we are again, familiar waters for Wayne County...We have some banners in the gym that say Final Four on it, but how about we try adding one that says Finals? It can happen, but we'll have to play hard and smart to handle Union City, but it's not an impossible task. Wayne County's played the role of giant killer all year when we were told we didn't have a chance... Including eliminating a Mr. Basketball contender from #2 Culleoka, we eliminated #2 Clay County today, and I'm all for taking out Union City. Take care of business guys, two more left.
  14. Here we go, for the first time ever we're in the Boro in back-to-back years, and I know we're not going to Murfreesboro on Wednesday to stay for a day and be done. That was the days when we were working on getting closer each and every year. You can talk about athleticism of guards all day, but our guards are as good as anyone's. CJ's speed, Beckham's offesnive ability, Daniel Warren coming off the bench and being a huge boost, and my boy #23 AJ Bell is the man you got to play defense on. Our post players are great, Daniel Doyle is money from the free throw line and a good shooter, and Hammonds is a beast in the paint. Obviously, everyone's good to make it this far, but I'm going with my boys from Wayne County. They were here last year, made it to the final four. They know what it's like to be the underdogs and they be fine. We'll all be there in full force Wednesday morning.
  15. Big win last night from my boys from WC. #4 is a great player for Nash. Christian, but he couldn't do it alone. Proud of the Cats in making their second straight State Tournament appearance, I don't think any WCHS team has gone in back-to-back years, I may be wrong. We stopped one game short last year, let's go in this year and make some more noise.
