  1. To "football guru" Check your facts before you make statements. You should know that since you were Central's "stat man". Lorenzo missed several days of spring practice for no apparent reason. Coach Campbell gave him a second chance by coming to summer workouts. He did not live up to his end of the bargain. It is too bad for him and for Central. However, coaches should be in the business of teaching lifelong lessons such as responsibility. They should be commended for this. That is the "new attitude" someone referred to. Responsibility and accountability.
  2. I am not from Ooltewah or Cookeville. (or Bradley) My prediction is Ooltewah by two touchdowns. They are much better than Cookeville this year.
  3. That's what I was thinking. All you OOltwah fans stop crying. You can play Dobyns Bennett and Riverdale. Just get past the first round of the playoffs. It's really a simple solution.
  4. This should be a very good game indeed. Maryville and Melrose are both strong teams, and both schools have a rich tradition. I am not from either school, but I am a fan of high school football. I think Melrose's speed should give Maryville a run for their money. In the end I think Maryville will win, but it will be because of the kids out their busting their tails on the field, not because of trash-talkers like "MaryvilleRebels". I also believe Melrose will bring a fairly big crowd. Should be a good one. Good Luck to both teams.
  5. I believe Hayes and the Pounder defense are underrated . They will shut down Rhea's ground attack. Central will roll.
  6. The kid from McCallie is very good. Fabry from Red Bank can do it all. These two are the best.
  7. Jamborees mean nothing. Most of you talk like you know a lot, but really don't. To say Rhea and Cleveland looked awful is a joke. They are good teams with tradition, and they will beat teams this year and go to the playoffs. Teams like Hixson and Notre Dame are not very good, you will see. Hixson has speed, but no depth. By week six, they won't be very good. Preseason polls are meaningless and a waste of time. There is only one poll that matters, the last one of the year.
  8. The last time I was at Central, I believe that they had a large parking lot. Should be plenty of parking.

    top 5 pitchers

Wilkes was clocked at 95 this summer at a showcase. He has qualified and signed with Kentucky. I have seen Higdon pitch for Ooltewah twice, and I would defintiely put him in the top five or six in the area.
  10. Bull Durham. The scene on the mound where the pitching coach goes out to talk to the team is one of the best ever.
  11. Wilkes hands down is the best middle infielder in Chattanooga, probably the state. Cofer at Red Bank is good. Turner at Walker Valley is also very good. Rende at Soddy is excellent as is the Moore kid from McCallie. Ooltewah has so many infielders they don't know what to do. Maybe they can platoon them each inning.
  12. Ooltewah has all the talent in the world, even though some of them are young. McCallie is very solid. Cleveland should be outstanding as well. Soddy Daisy also has a load of talent.
  13. Great Job Mo. West! Congratulations to Maryville on a great season. THE STREAK IS OFFICIALLY OVER.
  14. I say Melrose will win by 12. Call it a hunch.
  15. Elephants and Rebels aside, I don't think Maryville will be in Murfreesboro this year.
  16. James is a good one, although I don't think East Ridge did all that well this year. They didn't make the playoffs. I believe White is an assistant somewhere in Middle Tennessee.
  17. I think it will be a doozy! I would like to see Tyner win, but I'll say Lipscomb by 14.
  18. Very philosophical Tech. I believe there are many great coaches in the Chattanooga area who guide young men's lives and such. I hear Daniels at Red Bank is a great coach who coaches the fundamentals well and has the boys' best interests at heart. The Lions only won two games this year though. I believe the post asked who would be the "Coach of the Year" in the Chattanooga area. The sportswriters and people who vote for these type things usually look at what you seem to think are meaningless statistics..... Wins and Losses.
  19. What was the final? 27-9? I heard Chatt. Central kept it close for 3 quarters, and then let it slip away.
  20. Great win Tyner! Get ready for next Friday, because Lipscomb will be tough!
  21. After reading these comments, I would have to agree that there are several worthy coaches in the area for Coach of the Year, particularily Potter, Akins, Jones, and Turner. It should be a close vote and should come down to who goes farthest in their respective playoff race.
  22. Purplepounderfootball, No one really cares about your thoughts or inner feelings, so do everyone a favor and keep them to yourself or write them on paper if you have to. You are making everyone at Central look bad, and I'm sure there are a few decent folks over there.
  23. Turner has great athletes, but he gets them to play well together. Jones at Central has fallen into a great crop of athletes, but his talent pool looks like it is getting ready to fall off. If he sticks around at Central long enough, we will find out what kind of coach he is. Akins at Boyd is a great coach, but they play weak teams. As much as I hate to admit it, Potter at McCallie is probably the best overall coach around Chattanooga. He does have some nice athletes, but they play the toughest competition around, and win most of the time.
  24. Who is Houston County? :justwrestle:
