Any updates for the 11U/15U State Championships?

AAU for the SE/TN association has been in a decline for the last two years, AAU has two problems. AAU has somewhat become its own worst enemy, the level of competition and the requirements for athletes to compete at these levels are very high. Everyone doesn’t want to make the type of commitment, financial and time that it takes to compete. So they play MAYB, YBOA, YMCA, Jr. PRO or other Church/Recreational Leagues. Second, financial and family impact, it takes $$$ and families that are willing to give up vacation and personal time to support the teams. With our nations current economical state most people are just cutting back and choose to do the least expensive. My thoughts. . . .

The YBOA nationals in some age groups is fairly competitive, but not at the level of Div. 1 AAU, it would compare more to Div. 2 AAU. It mostly depends on the teams, some of the top AAU teams also play YBOA, MAYB, BCI, PrimeTime Sports and President/State Games. There are several National sanctioning organizations, but AAU appears to be the 'cream of the crop' in girls youth basketball. I was at the YBOA Nationals 2 years ago, it was run fairly well, the gyms were far apart though.

Is this Wings team part of the West TN Wings from the Martin, TN. area? I think that Kevin McMillan from Westview was a coach with? Didn't know they had a 12U team this year.

This will be a good State tournament, the West TN Tigers will be hard to beat. A few exceptional players on some really good teams. Predicitions: 1. West TN Tigers 2. SSS Nike or Memphis Elite 3. TN Team Pride GOOD LUCK ALL thumb

Haven't had a chance to see this age group this year, I saw this team last year and I heard they looked really strong at the Shelbyville SRT. I guess there's a THREE-PEAT in the making What are some of the other teams in the state that will pose a challenge. GREAT JOB KGC

As a word of advice only, officers within any organization would probably want to exercise reservation concerning accusations toward people or responses in a public forum. Sometimes the actions/words of leadership can make an unfair reflection of an organization. No problem though, I hope and plan to meet you at one of the state championships. I have moved on, it appears you have an ax to grind with someone, I would suggest you work your issues out with them. If there was no ax to grind, then why the long dissertation to my brief direct closing response? As far as my affiliation with Coach Jackson, I've never met him personally, I do know his daughter was on a AAU team that beat us by 50+ not to difficult to remember. Second talk to any major college or recruiting service about upcoming underclass football players from the Memphis area. Also I would suggest you not use this board to make personal references towards anyone , if you must, use their email for this type of discussion. I wasn't able to make over the the West substates this weekend, what was the results? I don't know who you are but I will make sure to find you and introduce myself, will you be at the 16U or 17U states?

The last time i checked I was Sam Parmenter, not sure what is meant here. It is OK and you have every right to defend your organiztion. But not in this way against others, I think this why fewer people post here than in the past. Good luck to your teams.

Didn't know there were hosting a tournament this week. . . I went to one of the Boo Williams events last year, the competition was at the level of AAU nationals, good event, and good competition.

The Coach, Elitebball and Ptguard12. How do you all know so much about this new Memphis Glory organization? If this is their first year then how can anyone know so much information about them? And further more WHY are you so concerned? Is there something the rest of TN doesn't know? I know of several new organizations and teams that I haven't heard anything about so what’s up with this? Elitebball, I don't see how you can boast about your organization accomplishments when it appears, from your own statements, that the majority of the Lady Elite program has been built from the Waves and West TN Tigers programs. All of your players and coaches are from other programs, which means you haven't truly developed anything, you've just taken/recruited from other successful organizations and relabeled them. Can you explain this logic? The Coach, How and why would you compare any organizations and their coaches? elitebball, I would assume you're with the elite, did your team play in the SRT at Shelbyville last week? I don't remember an Elite 11U from last year, is this a new team also?

elitebball, You seem to know quite a bit about the Memphis Glory, what ages do they have this year? The Waves 11U team from last year was pretty strong I would assume the 12U Glory team with players from last years team will be strong to, who's coaching them? ptguard, Did you get a chance to see any of the games at the Shelbyville SRT last weekend? Specifically the 10U, 11U, 12U and 16U age groups.

Will the pool play/brackets be kept up to date on the Shelbyville WEB site? fishfan, Sometimes teams will pre-register but backout at the last minute, or say they'll attend and don't show up. So don't be so tough on the Shelbyville group.

martell, To be truthful the parents of some of the players told me and coaches from other organizations. robpride, I agree it was unfortunate that your program or any other progam would be attacked in a public forum, my statement was not meant as an attack. philtenn, This may not be the forum for this type of discussion, but check with your other borad members and parents to verify. If its just a rumor then squash it, but if other board members and administrators are promising or giving monetary compensation and other things to recruit players and coaches then that might be an issue. robpride, I think you are misinformed. . .
